I truly can't say enough amazing things about Ralph and Ramsey from Discoboxx!!…read more One of our top priorities for our wedding was the DJ, and I spent a lot of time trying to find a DJ that I trusted to create the right vibe because we weren't looking for a typical "wedding DJ". I can now confidently say I have absolutely no regrets about picking Discoboxx! Our DJ was been one of the most talked about things after our wedding. So many people have told us how much fun they had dancing, asked me how I was able to find this DJ, and told us they've never seen so many stay out on the dance floor. Ralph was also so amazing to work with in general. He was always very responsive (...something I definitely learned isn't the case with all wedding vendors, haha), and he always seemed so excited to be part of our day. His energy was overall just a positive addition to our wedding! P.S. Get the lights!!! They really amped up the vibe.

The food was so good that we ended up happily paying extra for additional sides and appetizers. April and her staff are super friendly and accommodating and have great attention to detail, even coming to our venue walkthrough. The temperature of the food was just right, and we received so many compliments on the food. We did a Southern BBQ style and both the out-of-towners and the local Southerners were raving about it. We will definitely be using Unforgettable Food Affairs again in the future!

The catering company has a great variety of food options to choose from. My husband and I picked the assorted cheeses, spinach dip, crackers, and fruit displays for the cocktail hour. They were all beautifully set up and tasted amazing. For dinner, we had a roast beef carving station with assorted sauces, cheese and mushroom stuffed chicken breast, vegetables with sauce, whipped potatoes, and rolls with butter of course. We are STILL receiving compliments about how great the food was on the big day! Just thinking about it is making me hungry right now! I would HIGHLY recommend using Unforgettable Food Affairs for your wedding day. April really makes it an UNFORGETTABLE experience!

Whatever you do, do NOT hire this DJ! Wesley was my only vendor that was absolutely awful. He…read moreplayed multiple songs off of our do not play list, he only played about half (13/18) of the songs we gave him to play, and he repeatedly tried to make our reception all about himself. I told him specifically no line dancing, but the second song of the reception he played the conga line. I tried to make the best of it and being the bride I went to the front. But no Wesley got out of the booth, mic in hand, and cut me off to be the leader of the conga line. We told him specifically we did not want him to be on the mic at all. All of our friends are 20s-30s, know how to dance, and we didn't need any announcements. He repeatedly ignored that, came out on the dance floor with the mic, trying to tell our company how to dance. He told my extended family that they couldn't sit in the front 2 rows of our ceremony because they were for "immediate family members." But my immediate family was in the wedding party, so in all of our ceremony pictures it looks empty except for my parents sitting by themselves. He also spoke very rude and condescendingly to multiple guests and family members of me and my husbands. He played Mambo number 5 a total of 2.5 times! I had a special song I wanted the last reception song to be, but he ended it with a different song, and played the song I wanted as he ordered people to go outside for the exit. I apologize for this rant, but I waited months to write this review to let my emotions calm down from how hurt I was. I didn't want this happening to another bride! Instead of offering an apology or any sort of refund, all Wesley did was give me a bunch of excuses as to why he did what he did. Do NOT trust this man. He will RUIN your wedding!

Wes helped us pick up new dance moves for our first dance and we wow-ed ourselves as well as our friends and family! Wes even did a mini-dance lesson during cocktail hour for interested guests - definitely a hit with our friends! He kept everyone interested in dancing and took song requests. My husband and I selected a popular wedding venue in downtown Raleigh, The Merrimon-Wynne House…read more Once you sign the contract for your wedding date, they require you to select 4 vendors from their curated vendor list (catering, planning, rentals, & florals). We were shocked by some of the minimums for some of the vendors so we had to spend our time reaching out and gathering invoices from every vendor to find the 4 that match our budgets best. We decided on Hathaway Floral Design as our florist because she offered a lower minimum and her inspiration/website catalog matched the wedding day vision we had. Lauren Hathaway, the owner of this business, did not talk with us much. Her assistant, Georgia Hodgson, corresponded with us most of the time. Both ladies were pleasant and easy to get in touch with, however, there were multiple hiccups during the planning process. There was a miscommunication at one point about delivery fees and extra charges that dramatically increased our invoice. Lauren did offer a discount on these fees after we expressed our concern about the floral budget and stated that the quality of the florals wouldn't be affected. She could achieve our vision with the florals and greenery at her disposal. However, looking back, I feel like the quality of the florals was not in line with what we paid (close to $7000). A majority of our budget went towards the arch & reception florals. The bridal & bridal party bouquets, men's boutonnières, aisle meadows, and aisle petals were perfect! Those were priced fairly and the quality was there. The altar arch was not close to what we had envisioned- it was droopy, lacked greenery & fullness, and wasn't the shape we asked for. I had asked at the beginning of the planning process if I needed to buy and bring the arch shape we wanted but she assured us that she had it taken care of. We ordered 8 table garlands that weren't even on the tables- I later found out that there wasn't enough room for them so she placed them elsewhere in the house but I didn't really see where they went. I also noticed that around 12-12:30pm, she hadn't arrived yet and our ceremony started at 3pm. It was weird as well that she never stopped by to introduce herself or say hello- we haven't met her face- to- face. We had met all of our vendors except her. It felt like for the thousands we spent for florals, the quality was here and there. I must say her quality in other weddings is breathtaking so I am sad to see the quality was laid throughout for our wedding.

There's not really too much in the way of shopping -- a nursery, a cute two-story store with accessories, a cafe, a bookstore -- but the atmosphere is really inviting. Fearrington has several venues for events, including the main house, the Barn (which sometimes even partners up with McIntyre's for open-to-the-public author events), and smaller meeting rooms. THe place was covered in pumpkin carvings and turnip carvings hanging from trees! SO cute. If I ever plan on getting married, this would definitely be an ideal spot for a reception, and possibly a ceremony. I've read about the Barn, and it was featured in the Today show. This would be a dream spot for any bride, I would think. Can't wait to go back when they light up for the holidays!!
