Please go anywhere but here. This is going to be lengthy so just buckle up. I had a root canal done in Chattanooga May 1st. They told me to go to another dentist to get a crown. It took me FOREVER to get in somewhere to get this crown done, so I was desperate and finally found A Smile 4 U in Dalton. Receptionist told me I was supposed to check in so in the future I needed to do that. Even though I had already checked in.. During the initial exam, they were slow but I was in there towards the end of the day so I brushed it off. When the doctor started looking at my teeth he was extremely rough. I told myself I was being a baby and just hadn't been to the dentist in awhile (even though it was not nearly as bad in Chattanooga) ... I came back for the crown appointment and he was also fixing a cavity and doing a cleaning. Blood was all over my shirt during the cleaning and water was literally going up my nose so bad I had to tell him to stop multiple times, and he was also gagging me with it going down my throat. He had to stop during my cleaning and go help another younger patient. When we went back to the other room for my crown & cavity, the lady helping him didn't know where any tools were that was needed. I think she had to leave the room 20 times and that is not even an exaggeration, there were a few times he'd have to leave with her because she came back empty handed and said they were out or they couldn't find it. He was so rough with me I was literally begging God to get it over with. I was numb but the way he was prying my mouth open and shoving things in and out, the drilling, he couldn't reach my back tooth well and I was a nervous wreck. So anyway, that was for the temporary crown .. My appointment was at 10 am and I didn't leave til 1:30-2. So that was in July. Ok it is now an October 4th and I have called them for the past 2-3 weeks and texted asking where my permanent crown is. I have left messages, I have called the Cartersville office. I texted them, no response, but my husband texts them and they text back immediately with a response. I finally get ahold of them today. They don't know where my crown is, but they also don't take adults anymore. So I said so what do I do? Because I paid y'all already?? The receptionist said "ummm.... Ummmmmmm.........." For a good minute or two and then said well we'll talk to the manager, because I think we actually do have a dentist here that sees adults. Ok so ??? I called the cartersville office, no response. I'm so fed up. Just save yourself time and go elsewhere. read more

Had our second visit here today was just as good as the first. The staff was super friendly and nice very helpful. Very pleased with the quality of work that was done for my son today. The doctor was amazing my son had several teeth worked on and they look great!!! I highly recommend this place. read more

Our whole family started using this dentist and orthodontist when we moved to Dalton almost 4 years ago and really liked them at the time. They ranked up there with the best dentists we have used and we have been to quite a a few: we have moved about every four years for the last 20 years. They were really friendly, they knew us when we walked in, we never had a problem making an appointment, and we rarely ever had to wait when we arrived. Looking through the pictures, I remember all of those people. Something happened over the last couple of years. All the people that were in this office before COVID are no longer there. It has often been hard to get in touch with anyone in the office (we either get and answering machine which they rarely return our call or keep getting someone in another one of the locations even when I select Dalton). They have changed our appointments multiple times, and it has been hard to get appointments when needed. My daughter finally got her braces off (after an extended time due to COVID) and they fitted her for a retainer and told us they would call us when it was ready. 1-1/2 months later I tried calling about the retainer, but ended up having to walk into the office and was told they could not find it. She had to check out of school and get fitted for another one. We have been considering changing dentists after a year of this, but kept going back for some reason. I think we have reached our limit. I had a capped tooth that started hurting (one they did). I went in early one morning and was told I might need a root canal, but they gave me a prescription for antibiotics to see if that might help first. I was told they could no longer do a root canal at this location, and I would have to go to the office in Cartersville. When the tooth started throbbing after two days, I called to make an appointment for the root canal, and was told I could not be seen for 3-1/2 weeks. I told them I am having a hard time drinking or eating and I was told, "I am sorry, but that is the earliest I can get you in." Bye. read more

Due to the circumstances all went well other than while child was in office they didn't go ahead and pull the tooth but scheduled her 2 weeks out. She doesn't need any anesthesia, is in pain and tooth is broken in half. read more

Didn't seem to know what they were doing and wasn't gentle my teeth hurt when I got out of there. My brother came out with his lips puckered cause it hurt so bad. I never made another appointment either but they automatically set me up one read more

Amy was beyond wonderful. The staff in the back was great. Would recommend to someone who was looking for a pediatric dentist.

I did not like the comments that were made from the dentist himself. I will not be going back at all and sir you need to watch how you talk to your patients read more

I can't speak about the dentist or other staff, they all seemed professional and kind but the guy you have to consult with if cavities are found to set up an appointment absolutely should not be working in public service. My 7yr old was found to have cavities and I didn't want to have them filled that day because she hasn't complained of pain and also had a cleaning done 6 months ago and nothing was found and her teeth are baby teeth still, didnt see the necessity until she actually complained and it was bothering her. The only reason I went there is because the old place stopped excepting state insurance. So instead of being understanding he asked me what dentist did I use before and suggested I go back there since I don't trust his dentist instead of acting like a damn professional so I obviously told him he didn't have to be a smartass because I wasnt being one I was just saying I don't think I want the work done on my 7 yrs old just yet. Considering the fact you can't go back with your kids and his defensiveness to not wanting work done I feel like they do more work than needed to gain extra money. I wouldn't feel that way had he acted professional and said I understand let me get the dentist for you. He suggested I talked to them but when I asked to he told me no, they aren't my dentist so I was dismissed. Definitely find a better office. That really sucks for the ones whose actual reputation/work and report are on the line. They should hire more compassionate people. So I'm going out on a limb and would say if you have government insurance steer clear. I'm paying cash just to see our old dentist because their reputation proceedes them and they are kind. read more

Lucky they rate you 1 to 5 stars I say a ZERO to be correct whoever the new people working i don't like the assistants are great the doctors though I say different . I came in for a X-ray vision supposedly they could of done a clean up for me (lady in the office told me) no charge because it was suppose to already have been included in the check up right ! well I went because I needed a professional dentist or whatever they are because they must not know anything but to get more money off of someone and actually not help programmed robots ! I went to get some answers not for him to tell me to get braces put on or anything extra which felt insulting may need some but I didn't come in there for that . like sir I'm having a real life problem everything your saying sounds normal like there ain't no care for real its whatever they see is the problem TO THERE EYES ! when I know my body and I know something is wrong with me why did I go to yall just for some pictures and no answers about my GUMSSSSS . but try to get me to do another appointment just to top a cavity and to do some other different clean up Thats the same price to my car bill . when the regular clean up was free and yet I didn't get no answers nor a clean up I'm really not even satisfied for real won't be taking my money like no dummy NO THANK YOU . I hope that as many as possible see this and choose another provider for their children's othordontic needs. This office and their corporate office are terrible to deal with. Double billing charging for services not rendered and denying service are just a few of the issues that my family had experienced. We had to retain services of an attorney to get her transferred to a bitter provider. read more

This dental office scheduled me an appointment one week ago. When I arrived to the appointment they declined to see me because they don't take my insurance any more. Nobody from the office bothered to call to let me know they changed insurances policies over the course of a week. Terrible customer service and a waste of time and gas to get there. read more

My work requires me to get basic x-rays and a check up annually to get my wellness discount. Decided on this place because they had Saturday hours. When I got to the office I was told the panoramic x-ray wasn't covered by my insurance. I told them I didn't want the panoramic, only the bite wings that were covered 100%. I was told they required the panoramic, I wasn't allowed to opt out of it. Because I needed to get ut done I asked if I could speak to someone about a payment arrangement since I hadn't planned on having to pay anything at this visit. I was met with a blank stare. I eventually left without having anything done and the following Monday found a dentist that was able to do just the procedures I asked them to do. I don't believe any medical or dental office should be able to dictate what procedures I'm required to have done. My body, my insurance and my money. I will most definitely not be returning. read more

I have to give 1 star just so I can share my experience but they do not even deserve that. I have been taking my kids to the Dalton location for a few years now and about 1 year ago my daughter had a few cavities and they took care of that paid my portion up front and seemed to have done a good job since my daughter had no issues. 1 year or so later I take her back to her cleaning they tell me one of the cavities had a crack and had to be fixed, again I pay my portion of this and her cavity gets redone. A few days go by and my daughter complains about pain when she chews so I figured she was sore and told her to wait a few more days but the pain did not go away so I called to set up an apt and had to wait a few more days since it had to be the same dentist that worked on her cavity that had to see her. According to the front desk girl dentist do not like to look over the work of other dentist. I take her to the apt and I am advised that we have a balance which has to be paid in order to have her seen. I asked why since I have always paid my part upfront. They tell me that the insurance did not pay for my son's cleaning and other things that were billed to them. I asked her to print me a detailed bill of what was not paid and I would call the insurance company but asked if my daughter could still be seen since the bill has nothing to do with her issue but was advised that as long as I had a bill they would not see her. I decided to stay in the waiting area and called my insurance who assures me they have paid their portion of what has been billed to them so they asked me to verify the dates and turns out it was for services from 2018. The insurance company advised me that they never received this billing and I should not be responsible for them not filling this on time. I advised the front desk girl what the insurance company tells me but she tells me there is nothing she can do I would have to call the billing department, she even tells me to try calling them while she does the same because it is hard to reach them (her words exactly). I called many times while still in the waiting room and no answer not even a voicemail where I could leave a message to call me back. I go back to the front desk and asked to please have someone look at my daughter and offered to pay this bill to have someone see her and asked that once the issue with the insurance company gets resolved I can just get the credit or gave them make me a check for what ever I over pay but could not get a yes from her. I left upset but was never rude and just said I would just keep trying to call the billing department. I left with my daughter still in pain. I spent ALL day calling the billing department and never got anyone to answer, again not even an answering machine. I received a call from the front desk girl (not the billing dept) advising me that they reviewed my account and I was still responsible for the bill. I paid it (yes I know how stupid of me) I was never able to take my daughter back because we were leaving the country to go visit a sick family member during the Thanksgiving break. While out of the country I made my daughter and apt with the family dentist. They took x-rays of the tooth that was hurting and turns out they did not fix it they just patched it up leaving the crack on her tooth (I have the x-ray to prove this). The dentist removed everything that A smile 4 you had done and started over. Then he asked when was her last cleaning and I advised him that A Smile 4 u had done it 2 weeks ago and he proceeded to show me how much tartar was in her back teeth and how he had to remove it. I was very mad but just glad someone had gotten her taken care of. We are back home now and I have received the statement from my insurance company showing where they had covered their part of the bill. I continue to call the billing department, still no answer or answering machine. If I go to the office they advise me they can't help me that I have to call the billing department and there is no manager at this location that can help. read more
