All things made in store are very beautiful but the older lady in charge is very awful she snatched an item out of my 7 year old sons hands which we were going to purchase. In stores like this I always keep my children close to me and make sure they don't touch anything unless we are paying for it! I hope someone helps this lady with manners towards children! Not impressed with the older woman sitting at the desk, I don't think she tells the truth about the items she's selling.

I discovered Shared Blanket after a friend recommended I take a broken earring in for repair. Shop owner Donna did not hesitate, when several professional jewelry people refused to repair it due to the inlay turquoise and lapis. She did an excellent job, and was kind enough to polish it (pic), and the matching earring & necklace so they look brand new. Shared Blanket has a large variety of authentic Native American art, jewelry and cultural items at reasonable prices. I have since purchased several items (see pics) and am very pleased. Plus, Donna has a wealth of knowledge about local tribes and traditions. Ask her a question and she knows the answer or knows where to find it. For these reasons, I highly recommend shopping at Shared Blanket. read more

This is a great store with many beautiful Native American pieces at great prices, but the woman who runs the store is very rude and unprofessional with customers. She yelled at people who closed the door too hard, was very sarcastic and short with us whenever we asked questions about the merchandise or tribes who made the items. She also snapped at my husband when he tried to step over a couple of things to see paintings in the back room. It's a mystery to me how this store has not gone out of business. I felt uncomfortable in the store the whole time I was there. It didn't help seeing multiple signs on every shelf asking people not to touch the merchandise. One or two signs would have been adequate. Prices were not listed on many items so you were forced to ask the owner who seemed annoyed that you even asked. It's a shame the owner acts the way she does. The Native Americans are the ones that are hurt since she undoubtedly is driving a lot of people away who otherwise would have bought their pieces. read more

A older blonde lady rudely Yelled at my 4 year old son for touching one of her items. I told her I would talk yo my son myself. I then asked if she was Native American since she is selling Native American art.... She did not answer me but instead laughed and replied "was that a joke"! I have been acquainted with Donna Frank owner of Shared Blanket for about 30 years. She has never been rude or short with me, because she wanted my money. I also had custom jewelry made by her, purchased other items and I purchased a Day Bah Nelson weaving. According to her, the weaver's quality work was admired so much that it is displayed in the Smithsonian. (I have searched everywhere I can think of and find no evidence that Day Bah Nelson ever existe, let alone her weaving skills.). The weaving was of such quality that I could call Sotheby's, tell them I had a Day Bah Nelson, vegetal weaving, and they would know exactly what it was. I paid Donna Nelson $2550 for the weaving alone, and she 'wouldn't just sell it to anyone, but she thought I appreciated it and would care for it'. Theirs a big hook. Ha. My insurance company wanted me to add a rider to my policy covering so I contacted Donna Frank and ask about its value. $1800. She said 'these increase in value over time and your weaving's value is whatever you paid for it'. That is contradictory and simply doesn't make sense. My weaving increased in value from $2550 (her full asking price) to $1800?? Donna Frank may be a highly educated archeologist, but buyers should be aware that she's smart, she's greedy, and also she's got a great imagination and is a believable weaver of tales. And apparently grouchy, angry and rude. I have responsibility in this transaction, too. No one forced me to purchase this weaving. I purchased it because of Donna Frank's description of its value, history and provenance. I fell for it. I have the original tag, the email correspondence as proof of everything I've said. I am mystified by the negative reviews as I have been visited this store 4 times, traveling from the East coast and have had great experiences. Donna even remembers me after not having not visited for several years in between. I am not a huge spender but have purchased a ring from her each time I have been there and I have left items on two separate occasions for her to replace stones; the items were repaired & mailed to me within a reasonable time. Her prices are very good. I recognize quality and know a good bit about jewelry and kachinas. Her items are authentic; absolutely. She is a bit quirky but I have never seen her be rude to anyone during my 4-5 experiences shopping in her store. Can't wait to go back! read more

This is not my advertisement and for some reason it got mixed up. But for the person who needed theys items I'm glad they able to get them done so quickly and was so happy with the response, and coming from a complete stranger they sound right on. That they were able to get her items done so quickly and so proud of the results. I'm glad she was so happy with her garments turned out. To me and a stranger living in the Southwest Tucson, Arizona they sound right on. And plan to explore the items they have for sale and I hope to become a buyer from them. My house was broken into and alot of Navajo and especially Zuni jewelry was taken along with tourqouise. They definitely knew what they were after with that along with alot of items that can't be re- placed. So I hope in the close to near future be able to do some good business with them. The lady was very rude and uninformative regarding her business and if her items come from local native Americans or not. Makes me question if her products actually come from local Native American artists. Previous yelp reviews are not wrong, the customer service is horrible. There is an older woman named Donna Frank that KEPT butting into my personal conversations! She wouldn't stop! I used to work in a Native American jewelry store and know my stuff. She had the nerve to correct me on anything I said. I asked her about specific artists and she showed me fetishes, had NOTHING to do with the artist. She doesn't know much about what she sells, thinks it's appropriate to correct you, and lies when she says 100% of the merchandise she sells is native american made. NOT TRUE. Ask for her to prove it, she won't be able to. When I mentioned to her that she seemed offended, she said no, just pensive. There is a younger woman who works there, she's super friendly and kind. Donna snatched a receipt paper roll out of the other woman's hand and threw it, COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL. If the other grumpy woman wasn't there I would have given the store 5 stars. I don't care if she's the owner, her behavior is atrocious- she may have a personality disorder. Either way, she should stick to owning it and let the other woman do sales. She won't be open much longer if she keep this mess up, it's a miracle she's been open as long as she has been. I will see if I can file a formal complaint. You can call BID at 970-385-2900 if you find that her behavior is Threatening or intimidating. Adorable small shop with a GREAT selection of local handcrafted treasures. We were on vacation and I accidentally left my cell phone on the bench out front. We called the phone and the owner answered and promptly sent my phone to me overnight! What an incredible lady and experience. This shop has some nice items. We are collectors of fine Native American Jewelry. After asking to see a couple items the older lady became rude and would not talk to us anymore. It did t make sense. Cute small shop with a variety of items for everyone's taste- a personalized shopping experience. There are a few rugs, LOTS of beadwork from earrings, necklaces, eyeglass holders, to bracelets and beautiful stone and silver jewelry. There are several sizes of paintings and artwork which is both traditional SW and some interesting prints of life in Durango. The lady working the desk was very helpful and courteous. We went into this shop for the first time. The Woman Donna that worked there was extremity rude not just to us but to the other customers. After she snapped at us she moved on to complain about the children in the area being off early for Halloween and how she couldn't stand them. She complained about the children the rest is the time we were in the shop. Very unfortunate they had great items in the shop but the atmosphere was intolerably. When we called the shop to explain our experience she hung up on us. I won't recommend this store to anyone. Enjoy the other shops where the people are nice :) read more

Went there today. Owner was terrific. Loved talking with her. We are on vacation in Colorado and I was able to pick up little gifts for my family back home. Had great little native dolls made by a local woman...all authentic. Also some local soap samplers. They also had some beautiful pottery and got our granddaughter an adorable little sundress...with appliqué and sewn scene. All local. Also some of the most beautiful jewelry I have seen in the area and a great crafted knife collection...varied price range. Run by great friendly people. I highly recommend this as a stop! read more

I have had numerous less-than-desirable interactions at this store. From being yelled at for looking at items in the store, to being judged and getting the ::siiiiiiiggggghhhhh:: from the owner behind the counter, it is an uncomfortable place to shop at. Yesterday was the final straw and I had to create a Yelp account to post a review. The owner refused to give candy (during the annual town Halloween event, where the whole town goes downtown to trick or treat) to a special needs man. He was with his family and friends, and is a 6'5" big kid. He is special needs and has limited communication skills and Halloween is his favorite holiday. While he did not let this negative experience ruin his special day, the way that the owner treated him rudely and refused to give him candy, deeming him too old for the occasion. It was really unfortunate to have a store owner treat someone this way. Do not support someone who treats people less-than human. She is a bully and you should not support this store. read more
