The paver work will last 50 years, the bushes he selected were large and lush and even bigger than I first selected, everything is well placed and level! The sod work was excellent, they cleaned up everything from gravel in the street and yard to any trash or mess each night. For the Sod, they hand and shovel removed the old weeded areas without pesticides and made sure the earth was properly prepared with a layer of sod dirt before they laid it down. Third job: (Last fall) paid for manual pulling/removal of Bermuda grass from garden beds, plus weed control and mulch. Emphasis on manual removal - explicitly was told they would pull all the Bermuda out manually to get all the roots out. Took a bit of chasing around to get them to actually get it on the books, and then when they did come they just buzzed everything with a string trimmed and sprayed weed killer over that. We agreed to still pay the full price on the condition that Gairy would send a team out in the spring once the Bermuda woke up and inevitably came through the mulch since it wasn't removed. He agreed, and we left it at that. Flash forward to this year and has completely ghosted us and been non-responsive. Even tried asking about having a bunch of other services added so that it wouldn't be a totally free trip, but still No luck. We finally gave up on any hope of getting the promised services, hired Mr. Outdoor Living, dropped like $4K on services with them instead and will be sticking with them next year when we do a sprinkler system and stone retaining walls.

The owner, Mr Sweet, proceeded to lie directly to my face about the nature of the work today. I have a sick child at home and wanted to know what to expect. He smiled and told me they'd be mulching and laying grass seed. I said thank you and stepped back inside. An hour later heavy equipment began digging trenches in the space outside my door. Mulch may go down in that area at some point, but today it was a construction project. Why lie about that? It's none of my business what someone chooses to do on their property or who they get to do it. But it's been my experience in this world that a man who will lie to one person will lie to other people. Especially when he knows that lie will be evident very shortly. That's a man who just doesn't care. That's not the kind of man I want working on my property. I don't have a choice about him working on the property next door. Mr Sweet was entirely unconcerned when I asked him why he hadn't been honest this morning, laughing it off as a joke. How a man acts in a minute says a lot about how man will act in the broader world. An honest man will always be honest; a dishonest man will lie to you too. Be careful who you pick to work for you.

We had a chat with the owner of the place & she was great. We probably talked with her for about 10 minutes or so, about everything from her business to politics. She really made you feel welcomed in this place that is an old house transformed into a store.
