Rather than feeling heard, respected, or guided through an already difficult process, we felt judged, questioned, and dismissed. During our consultation, she made it clear that she serves as a trustee in bankruptcy proceedings, and the way the conversation unfolded left us feeling as though we were being treated with suspicion rather than as people genuinely seeking help. We left feeling as though our circumstances and concerns didn't matter. I understand that bankruptcy law involves difficult questions and uncomfortable conversations. We weren't expecting someone to tell us what we wanted to hear. We were simply hoping for professionalism, compassion, and a willingness to listen. I wish our experience had been different.

My ex-husband wanted 50% of our daughter's SSI ; If you know ANYTHING about SSI, it is federal law that you can NOT give SSI monies to ANY individual under ANY circumstances, including another parent, when you are your child's "Guarantor", or your child will lose their funds completely. Christy, was NOT prepared and lost my case to an appointed Commissioner on the bench. She looked at me and said "That's the way it is", when the Commisioner made the order. I then hired a different attorney, who turned that train around. Now there are laws in place that protect disabled individuals (children) from having their benefits play apart in divorce monies. SHAME on Christy. My experience: She doesn't NOT fight to protect your children. She doesn't fight to make sure the law and your rights are upheld. I believe she perhaps collaborates with opposing counsel to determine the outcome, without you knowing. She was not a good attorney in my case. This was my experience with Christy.

I reached out to Melissa during Covid needing some immediate help and representation, for what ever…read morereason covid had an impact on attorney availability and Melissa took appointment with me right away. I had reached out to at least 4 other attorneys and all were months out. At our first meeting I was so impressed with her attentiveness as I described my situation. She assured me that my case would be approached with the best interest of my children in mind and a focus on meditation not litigation. That is exactly what she's done and her ability to achieve positive outcomes is appreciated. Melissa is easy to reach and always responds quickly. I recently had an issue with the other party not complying with court order on a Sunday morning, I reached out to Melissa by text on her personal phone and she replied immediately! I felt bad for bothering her on a weekend and told her such, she replied, "this is exactly the reason that clients have my cell phone. Don't worry about bothering me on the weekend." That to me is above and beyond! I'm so thankful for Melissa and her expertise in navigating family law and her willingness to not drag every little thing before the court. She will reach out to the other party and try a resolution through conversation and negotiation. Usually with a good outcome. The only time things weren't moved forward was because the other party was obstructive, unprofessional and inefficient or educated on best practices concerning family law. Melissa can only do so much as one side of a two side situation and she works hard. I highly recommend her. Thank you Melissa Atteberry!

In my case, I had just learned my party was leaving the country & I just recieved their adress. I…read moreneeded to serve someone in their home city on a Thursday night and if I had no luck, I needed another process server to serve the person in a entirely different city on Friday. The urgency was that the person was leaving the country on Saturday. I called several process servers in both cities and had difficulty getting a response. Though I worked with a very responsive server in the city for Friday and I paid him (as it was getting late, 5p, on Thursday and I wasn't getting any calls back about serving the party on Thursday... Even the butte county sheriff's office neglected for an entire two weeks to call me back) eventually Amber from AW Legal services called me back. I was frustrated that I had lost the money (due to the lack of responsiveness from several places in Chico) from paying the other processor for the Friday job. However once Amber called, we discussed the entire process, the identification information, and her pricing. I had a fee waiver for the county, but you can't use it if they never call you back so I was happy to find that Amber's pricing is extremely reasonable!!! I made the payment and I advised the Friday process server (in the Friday city), right away, that I might be able to get it done that evening (with AW Legal) but the chances were slim. He told me to let him know if I got it done. Shocked as all get out, Amber, with only basic address info (wasn't 100% sure about the way the apartment # was written) managed to serve the party within two hours. But here's the icing on the cake... My paralegal had multiple misscommunications with myself & Amber in regards to getting the original paperwork from Amber so that it could be delivered to the court. Eventually, I had to cut out the middle man and (2 weeks after service) ask Amber to please send it directly to me. She paid out of her pocket to overnight it to me. This act alone deserves five stars! I was extremely thankful. Amber will send you simple smile emojis, one word answers, and she's not very verbose in her texts (Lol) but she gets to the point, will get the job done, quickly, and correctly. And she is the type that will stick with you until it is done! I couldn't have been happier with her kindness, her commitment to completing the job, her relaxed nature (at a time that is stressful to her clients), and her professionalism.

When my Spouse decided He should walk away with everything we had acquired after the Fire, Catherine agreed to help with my Case. Never having been in a Legal battle, I had no idea what I was doing, but she did, and she kept me apprised of everything happening along the way. When I told Ms. Vance I wanted to fight back, she answered (with class, and confidence,) "I do not fight, but I do work smart, and do things the correct way", and that she did. I can never thank her enough! If you need an amazing Lawyer, I highly recommend Catherine Vance Attorney at Law.
