It turned out that…read moreI had programmed some new remotes that matched my neighbor and we were opening and closing each other's garage door. I looked on Yelp and found Local Garage Doors. I called about 3 in the afternoon. An appointment was set up for me for a 5 PM to 7 PM window the same day. I got a text with a photo of the tech who would be coming, Jon-Paul. I was also provided a link to the travel of the truck so I knew where he was When the truck arrived, I got a text telling me the tech was at my house. Jon-Paul arrived and with him was a second tech, Dave. We went to the garage to look at the unit I had. After listening to my problem, I had a few options. The one I chose was to replace the old opener. I'm lucky that I got as many years out of it as I did. Working as a team, Jon-Paul and Dave removed and replaced the old opener with a new one. They worked as a great team and the job was done in no time at all! I now have an opener that is silent compared to the old one, and I can watch video on my app of the garage so I can monitor from anywhere and should I leave it open, I can close it form anywhere. I really appreciate the service Local Garage Doors gave me, and it was very enjoyable watching the two men work together so well that the job seeemd like a piece of cake. I recommend this company. Professional, fast, and knowing crew! Finally, I am no longer playing why's my door open with my neighbor.

Had an awful experience with Mike and Sean from Swift Garage Las Vegas. I'm giving two starts…read morebecause they came same day. Rest of experience was pretty terrible. Low lights included Mike stapling his business card to wall inside garage when I wasn't looking! I told him that wasn't cool and he responded he did it because previous customers said his stickers were too hard to remove! Seriously!?! Like what the actual freak? Additional things that were very disappointing included; 1) Failure to to let me know new opener was incompatible with existing keypad. Of course AFTER it was installed and they didn't have newer keypad and couldn't get for 2 weeks! They should've known and informed me that the new motor wouldn't work with existing keypad before installation. Damage to property: Using a staple gun to attach business card to our recently painted wall is unacceptable property damage. That alone is enough to never let this clown near my property ever again! Poor quality installation: I found compatible keypad on Amazon, that Mike offered to install, but he mounted it backwards and used the wrong screws, was carelessness and showed a lack of attention to detail and preparation. Additionally the camera on motor was not set-up correctly and their excuse was it was new system they weren't familiar with. Then why didn't you learn about BEFORE installing at my home. Lack of preparation: their excuse about the motor being "new" doesn't take away their responsibility to learn the product's basic functionalities (like keypad compatibility and camera) before selling and installing. I've spent hours researching and ordering the necessary key pad and correctly installing the mount myself I would NOT have agreed to a new garage door opener that requires a key pad that needs to be charged every few months or an additional adapter. tl/dr lack of preparation, unfamiliar with product they installed, poor quality installation, & no respect for my home. Summary, would definitely not use again.

I had a hinge that had pulled all the way out of the door breaking the metal that it was attached to. He showed me the diamond shape hinge explained how it worked and why we needed to replace all 5 hinges straight across the panels. I am very analytical ask lots of questions, he answered all of my questions. I also decided to replace the rollers on the 30 yr door. Kyle never once tried to upsell my on anything. I asked him if there was any specials on the roller replacement. He explained both roller types the differences and warrantee etc. I chose the one on the special. He worked very efficiently, he also tuned up the door as I requested. When I asked my hypothetical questions I felt he gave me honest answers. He checked all his work to make sure everything was working. I checked his work and am satisficed with both jobs. My next door neighbor used A-1 to replace their garage door about 7 yrs ago and is going to call and book a tune up and ask for Kyle to do the service. All in all it was an amazing experience starting with Gina who booked the service appointment. Thank you A-1 and Kyle for a job well done at a reasonable price.

Blake is the real deal. One of our garage door torsion springs broke, and I got quotes from several…read morecompanies to have them replaced. I specifically requested information on what torsion springs would be used and how many duty cycles I could expect. Blake was the only one who gave me a transparent, verifiable answer and backed it up with actual numbers based on my specific door measurements. For any garage door, there's an optimal spring configuration (wire size, length, and inner diameter) that's chosen based on the door's measurements, weight, and drum hardware, and scaled up or down depending on how many duty cycles you want. With residential garage doors, which are fairly common and standardized within brands, a good professional can look at a photo of your door, recognize the brand and components, and give you an accurate spec without even physically weighing the door. Blake did exactly that. Every other company I contacted just quoted generic cycle numbers like "10,000 cycles" or "20,000 cycles" with no way for me to verify they were actually sizing the springs correctly for my specific door. Blake was the only one who ran the actual numbers using the industry-standard Spring Engineering app. He sent me a screenshot showing the inputs (door dimensions, drum hardware, estimated weight) and the resulting spring recommendation and expected cycles so that I could see exactly how he got there. Blake clearly knows what he's doing. His pricing was also excellent, and he stood behind his work with a strong warranty. The service itself went above and beyond. While he was there replacing the springs, he also adjusted the tension on the garage door opener drive belt, adjusted the door track, tightened up the sagging lock wires on the inside of the door, and even lubed the other garage door (none of which I had asked him to do). He patiently answered all my questions and walked me through exactly where to apply lubricant going forward to get the most life out of the garage door components. If you want someone who actually knows what they're doing and treats your job like a professional rather than just swapping parts and leaving, Blake is the one to call. Highly knowledgeable, efficient, transparent, and clearly cares about doing the job right.

His pricing was one of the best, but what really set him apart was the customer service. He responded almost immediately through Yelp, communicated clearly the entire time, and kept me updated on the day of service with accurate arrival info so I wasn't stuck wondering when someone would show up. Huge plus. When he arrived, he was professional, friendly, and worked fast. On top of that, he noticed part of my garage door was bent and fixed it at no extra charge without me even mentioning it. That level of care and honesty really impressed me. It's hard finding companies that are both affordable and genuinely customer-focused, but this one absolutely is. Would definitely use Blake again and highly recommend him to anyone needing garage door service.

We had a Chamberlain garage door opener (which was in place when we bought our home). It was 91…read moreyears old (in dog years). On very rare occasions, it would fail to respond to my remote (or my HomeLink) when returning home, but would grudgingly work after repeated retries and incantations. It did not fail inside the garage, nor when the garage door was open. But over the last year or two, that behavior gradually worsened until I could not open the door at all when returning home. (Up until then, my wife's HomeLink was working just fine. Go figure. Our erstwhile Welsh Corgi favored her too.) Eli, from Pacific Experts, came by to check it out and attributed the problem to the aging electronics of the unit, which he determined to be 13 years old (in human years). That does indeed match the average lifespan of garage door openers (according to Chatty McChatface, my AI chatbot), so we agreed with Eli's advice to replace it with a new one. He offered three options for new openers: a basic one, a mid-level one with some extra features, and a lotsa-features model. We chose the mid-level because it could operate over the internet via a phone app (open, close, and check door position). It also included battery backup. Eli quoted this at $650 installed. My pal Chatty pegged that price to the very outer threshold of reasonable pricing; sort of like the von Kármán line on your way to outer space. But when I like a service company, I don't usually like to pit them against competitors in a bidding war. There are weeds you can wander into. Pacific Experts' written estimate arrived by e-mail with just two line items: (1) parts: $650, and (2) tax: $29.33, for a total of $679.33 (labor was subsumed in "parts"). So (by my calculation) their price for the Craftsman CMXB4230 works out to $354. FYI, this model is widely available for $224 (e.g., Amazon, Lowe's). After I whined peripherally about the extra $29.33, PE removed it from their estimate. Back to $650. Mark said that they could install the unit as soon as I wanted, so Eli showed up on time the next morning, Sunday. It took him about one hour to remove the old opener (which went to live on a farm in Winnemucca) and replace it with the new one. Eli is so experienced and skilled at this install that it was fun just watching him, which I did. He did the whole job without a wasted step, set up our HomeLinks and the myQ app on my iPhone, then patiently demonstrated the system, while also filling me in about his background and family. Call him maestro. The assembly part of the instruction manual includes about 30 pages of microscopic text, which of course Eli didn't need. I'd guess that a competent DIYer would require most of a day to accomplish as much. All recent Craftsman openers are just rebranded Chamberlains. You will find two versions of the myQ app in your app store: Chamberlain myQ and Craftsman myQ. Depending on what you read, these apps are either (a) identical, or (b) nearly identical. Eli recommends downloading the Chamberlain version, as do I. I ran into trouble later when installing the myQ app on my wife's iPhone. I had worked with Eli setting up my own app, including configuring it to work with our home router, and I knew the procedure. I wrongly assumed that I needed only to repeat the same steps on the other phone. I called Eli for help but it was ultimately too awkward (for me, at least) to resolve over the phone. The next morning Mark promptly came by and correctly set up my wife's phone. I like the Craftsman CMXB4230. It's quiet (the unit it replaced was also belt drive, so it might have been noisier just because of age). The motor starts smoothly and slows gently as the door reaches full open or full close; very nice. It does not include light bulbs. I put two new LED bulbs in (specifically made for garage door openers - that's important) and they illuminate our garage very well; the unit's wall plate includes a switch to also turn them on or off independently. The CMXB4230 includes a 1-year warranty on parts, accessories, and battery, and a 5-year warranty on the motor and belt. Pacific Experts gives a 1-year warranty (although that is not stated in writing). Pacific Experts Garage Door Service deserves a 5-star rating because of their excellent customer care, quality products, and expertise. Take time to satisfy yourself that their fees are reasonable. Do remember that good businesses are expensive to run. And Eli's wife is expecting their fourth child shortly.
