It was…read moreheartbreaking to walk down the hall and hear people call for help and literally watch the staff just walk by. I have walked down the hall to look for someone to help my mom and they say, "I will go find her" (the nurse or CNA assigned to that room/person). Or, "It will be a minute, she is on break." REALLY? Sometimes I cannot find anyone. My mom needed help in the bathroom and I told her to pull the cord. I went out to see if anyone was coming and check if the light was actually on in the hall. It was on, but no one was there to help. I had to go find someone to help me with my mom on the toilet. As they were getting my mom off the toilet, other patients rolled down the hall in their wheelchairs to tell me their very similar stories. This is unacceptable! I understand working with the sick and elderly is tough, but you applied for that job! You chose to get your education in that field because you wanted to make a difference. I was hoping it was a positive and meaningful difference you wanted to make. Not one that made some of these elderly people's last few weeks or months absolute hell! DO NOT put your loved one in here!
