Now that the hard times are behind us, I am writing an honest, long review about my experience with Jekalo. The review is long, but in an effort to fully warn those about this business, I feel that a detailed post is the most beneficial way to help a vulnerable person avoid being jerked around by Jekalo. The pain that Jekalo caused me is indescribable-- pressuring my husband and I with a fake sale, tricking me with false photos, lying about having to bury her grandfather and taking a trip to Hawaii, trivializing my trauma and making herself the victim, ghosting me and my wedding coordinator, not equipping their business properly with an LLC--and most importantly, running away with my money and not showing up to shoot my wedding. The company ran off with our money, didn't show up to shoot our wedding, and never gave us a refund, all while my mother in law was dying of cancer.

I had this day reserved 9 months ahead and paid in full and they just tossed us to their associates. Not only did they show up almost 45 minutes late, but then when they had to stay over there contracted time (because they were late to begin with) they held our photos and video hostage until we paid them more money. If they weren't late, they would have been out on time. So now I left on my honeymoon worried that I wouldn't get my pictures or video. Basically a total disaster.

We are extremely thankful to have come across Kaiel and Stephanie. They are such a balancing, power couple that make taking photos so fun, exciting, and yet calming in the midst of the beautiful chaos. The way they engaged with not only us but with our family, guests, and other vendors is amazing. Kaiel made planning photography for the day of the wedding feel way less stressful and, of course, lots of fun. Even just hearing them walk through the door put a huge smile on our faces! Our engagement photos were incredible and we've received some of our sneak peeks from the wedding which are stunning already. Cannot wait to see the rest of the gallery and relive the day! Also, the edited highlight reel was beautifully crafted and perfectly captured the feeling of our day. They helped us feel comfortable and have fun, and the final videos are something we will treasure forever! We recommend them 10/10 :-)

Weddings, regardless of how big or small the scope or guest list, can be nerve-wracking, stressful…read moreexperiences. There's always a litany of reasons, but typically, the most common unifier boils down to one element: the people involved. Unprofessional staff or say, more volatile family members or friends can make or break the experience and the memories. So, I'll stop before this gets too autobiographical and I'll add that, yes, this long-winded intro is my roundabout way of contextualizing Zhihan's amazing service: her amazing professionalism, excellent photography and, above all, her penchant for navigating trickier interpersonal waters were all highly appreciated by my wife and I (and my family!). Zhihan showed up 20 minutes before the time we originally gave her, and she immediately started getting a sense of the work ahead: which family members would be joining later, how many people were onsite at the courthouse that day, and she was also super-nice to our dog. From the first few minutes she started working, I could sense her warmth and enthusiasm. She got a sense of the relationship my wife and I share and sought to capture the essence of our relationship within that short amount of time. In between shots, she gave us enough room to breathe and acquiesced to our weirder demands while slowing down to give us honest, candid advice on which shots would work and what would work even better. I still look back on the great shots she took that day and I'm still all smiles. And then, the interpersonal aspect. I have two sets of step-parents, whose relationship to one another can be best described as poisonously lukewarm. Again, not trying to get too autobiographical (too late?), but it's a testament to Zhihan's intuitiveness and emotional intelligence. The way she worked to devote equal amount of time to each "faction" while ensuring the other group was being adequately communicated to for next shots really impressed me, and like I said, it really went a long way to putting some of my anxieties at ease. In summary, Zhihan was an absolute pleasure to work with and I highly recommend her for her professionalism, her passion, and most importantly, her empathy and ability to be a positive presence in an important family event. Awesome work, Zhihan, and thank you so much!

It was such a fast process with all that was going on so at the end of the day I was just so thankful we had her and received gorgeous photos! I'd definitely hire her again!

Chanelle was more than happy and willing to first take my getting ready photos at my grandmothers home. She was able to capture such beautiful photos in my grandmothers heirloom bedroom. Once at my venue she photographed every detail beautifully. My mother and I made everything used in my wedding and we wanted that to be showcased and she did just that! She was a joy to work with and made us feel so comfortable! When it came to our family photos I wanted them to be taken somewhere woodsy and beautiful. I didn't have any ideas of where that would be but Chanelle suggested Lake Arrowhead and it was exactly what I wanted! She once again was such a pleasure to work with. She even was able to get my son to smile! It was a great experience and the photos came out beautiful! For my maternity shoot we were both trying something new. We wanted to try out a maternity milk bath. My Grandmother was kind enough to lend us her bath for the afternoon and it ended up being the perfect tub for the shoot! Meeting Chanelle was a pleasure, she has a great personality, we clicked right away and I felt that was very important if I was going to make an investment for such an important event. At our first meeting she discussed her excellently priced packages, she shared her insight on engagement shoot locations and even proposed different shots she'd taken herself in the past to kinda direct us for what we really needed to have on our wedding day, to make sure we didn't miss a shot later. She was accessible and responsive every time I reached out to her and was very prompt to respond. The day of our wedding she was on time and presentable; she and her assistant Ernest were really great with our family and friends too. By looking at our photos I can't think of a single thing she missed. A lot of the shots she took were more than just the subject but also like the backgrounds, everything had great symmetry, I swear this lady has quite the magical eye! Our day was overcast and she felt terrible about how she thought the photos should have looked that she edited my photos twice even after she had already delivered my USB drive. Honestly I was delighted with how they turned out the first time, but that show's her commitment to her art. Overall it was a pleasure working with Chanelle, I even recommended her for my cousins wedding this past September and my cousin is also so happy we found her! I've actually just booked her for our company's website photo shoot, excited to see how those turn out too! We really are happy to have found Chanelle, I feel she's definitely that family photographer you always think of and can count on
