But this was first time I have had no pain, or anaesthesia . They use water at a fast action to clean tartar! Brilliant. However, I must say that this dental surgery have handled me wonderfully this last year. Unfortunately I found myself in a position where I needed quite a lot of dental work. First came the x-rays, which my dentist, Matthew Mullan, showed me and explained what I was seeing, and told me exactly what needed to be done. I was in for the magic of root treatment and a crown! Not what you want to hear, but better than having the toothache. During every session, Matthew would recap the plan and explain what needed done on that day. He would make sure that when I was in the chair and he was working on my mouth, he would explain exactly what he was doing and always checked that I was doing OK. Matthew would also tell me that if I needed to take a break, all I had to do was let him know. Nobody likes going to the dentist, but the care was excellent and my teeth look and feel great.

I had avoided dental practices for five years due to a severe case of phobia!! I was always sedated fully for any treatment and it always took three or four attempts to even get me in the door for a check up. I was recommended this practice and was advised to see Colin. The receptionist was lovely over the phone and in person when I went in to check in. The practice is welcoming, fresh looking, light and warm. I have honestly never experienced a dental check up like it before. My dentist was extremely attentive, listened to all of my fears and concerns and somehow very quickly assessed how to handle the situation. I had even advised that one of my main phobias (as silly as it is) is with the probes they use, so he didn't use any and still performed a full and detailed examination. He even explained everything that was going to happen, what the results were (not as bad as I had thought) and what was going to happen next. Once he came up with my treatment plan over a couple of appointments he then shocked me further by actually asking how that sounded to me! I managed to go from utterly terrified and almost walking straight back out to perfectly happy and laughing by the end of it. I am honestly going to recommend this practice to anyone who asks and for the first time in my life, I am setting a goal to have any treatment I need in the future done without sedation! This is something of which I am thankful for seen as this is the only dentist I can ever remember going to. You might think that my review may be slightly biased. However, I am one of the few people (that I know of) who harbour no fear, resentment or anxiety towards a visit to the dentist. So, in my books this is a good thing. If something fear, anxiety or resentment worthy was lurking in here, I would have encountered it at least once. Instead I've only witnessed a small, local and friendly dental surgery. It's got a small waiting room, sectioned off by a glass partition, with a row of comfy office chairs lining the whole area. This reduces the likelihood of having to sit next to someone (big plus) and there are plenty of magazines - with surprisingly recent publication dates. The only points that are holding back a final star are waiting times. Do not think you will get taken on time. You will probably have to wait about an hour extra. I have found out - sadly only last month - that the best way to tackle this is to make as early an appointment as you can (on your day off too!) and to turn up even earlier. Likewise, the glass partition is not sound proof so everyone in the waiting area will overhear you getting scolded and/or whimpering when it comes to the very vigorous scrap and polish routine.

Well, it's a dentist. How can anyone write a good review about a dentist? They're the stuff of…read morenightmares, the monster under your bed, the angry monkey in your closet. But they are a necessity. Actually, I don't mind the dentist. My recent toothache has taught me a valuable lesson. Go to the dentist regularly. Seriously, the pain of a regular trip is insignificant compared to the agony of a rotting tooth inflicting itself upon nerves. If I had a gun, I'd have blasted half my face off to stop the pain. This practise has been around for a while, but has recently been given a scrape and polish. The staff are friendly, polite, professional and not at all like the murderous creatures your mind conjures up. During my tooth troubles I felt I was dealt with quickly, in fact, on the worst day of the nerve pain (2 days after the dentist tried to fill a hole with a regular filling) I had to go back in. I asked to see the dentist again and was told I could have an appointment in 4 days. I told them in no uncertain terms that half my face would be blown off if I had to wait 4 days. I could have handed the lass at the front desk a cheque and asked "how many zeroes do you want? END THE PAIN!!!" They understood immediately and I had the first part of root canal done just 3 hours later. Bury your fears, go to the dentist.

They are an NHS dentist predominantly and their standard is very high and (more importantly to me) they don't rip you off with treatments you don't really need. I always get a (very thorough) check-up by my lovely, caring dentist Margaret and usually a scale and polish (because I loooooove the way my teeth feel afterwards!) which feels amazing and the Hygienist is always cheerful and super lovely. Great reception staff too and it is never a problem if you ever need to change an appointment. Good selection of magazines too in the clean and comfortable waiting room. If you're living in or near the East End then I would definitely recommend Whitehill Dental Practice. My teeths feel HAPPY! :D

Today I had to see Sarah the hygienist who is as gentle as a lamb and had to jag me up after infection had set in ( my Fault). The whole team from reception to dental nurse are cheery and always have a smile, bottom line is great dentist, magic professional staff. Can't honestly say anything negative and this comes from a very picky. NHS and Private.
