There were also nice pieces of stained glass, some pottery and even a framed sports jersey. The back of the shop had a large table where the piece you are having framed could be staged. A huge selection of framing material and mats were available to choose from. Ellen took a great deal of time to show me over a couple of dozen combinations of frames and matting materials that would work with my print. She explained why each piece would work for it's individual complimentary elements and gave me plenty of options. Once all the pieces were chosen she quoted me a price and her current wait time. Could I have gotten a better price at a chain store? Possibly, but her price was pretty good. Would I rather support a shop like this? Absolutely. I did have a tough time finding it at first. This shop is near the Chevy Dealer, and directly across from the Army-Navy Club. This is exactly the kind of shop I was looking for. It was friendly, local, and full of options with knowledgeable staff.

There were immediately several artists that caught my attention. One was the art of Victor Mirabelli whose large abstract landscapes In muted haunting tones were beautiful. The other was H M Saffer II, whose brightly colored landscapes with a pointillist style were happy and joyful. While the gallery contained mainly paintings there were some sculptures that I inquired about (see pictures) but sadly I didn't get the name of the artist. They were beautifully delicate, lacy sculptures of women that showed great motion and expression. I am not sure but it may have been the gallery owner who was there to answer my questions, she seemed to be very passionate about the art and the gallery. I could tell right away that she knew her art and was happy to share her knowledge. I put myself on the mailing list and look forward to visiting again!
