I really like this spa, my only gripe is with the facials. With every other service the esthetician doesn't leave the room/client. For whatever reason when your mask is on, the esthetician leaves the room (takes a break). I've never had this "issue" at any other spa both in and out of town. I honestly don't understand why. Everywhere else you get an extended head, neck, scalp and shoulder massage while the mask is working/resting since it's only a 45 minute to an hour service. It feels like you get abandoned through the middle of your service. When the mask is done resting, they take it off, add some moisturizer you're done. It just feels straight up disruptive and weird. Last time I had a facial there I was left alone in the room with my mask on for 15 minutes in the middle of my service. I honestly thought I was forgotten about. read more

I've previously had a prenatal massage at A day away spa within the last two years. I paid for our services using a gift card from Spa Week. Apond going we had viewed spa week gift certificate website and noticed this spa was listed as a participating spa. They had used the gift card leaving a balance of $26 left on it. Fast forward to now I recently went in for another massage and went to pay for my service. I handed the receptionist the giftcards who wasn't sure how to apply the payment with the cards and had called the owner. She had told him she wasnt affiliated with spa week for over 7 years and continued to tell him she won't accept the form of payment. I had pulled up the website on Spa week to show them they were listed as accepting the giftcard aswell as informing that they infact did process the giftcard previously leaving me with a balance still left to spend. I managed to call spa week and question them and they insisted the buissness is listed on their website and affiliated with them. I asked to respectfully see if I could personally talk to the owner. Apond doing so I was instantly attacked by her accusing me of lying stating I never used the giftcard there because "she hasnt accepted it within 7 years". She told me (with such a harsh tone in her voice) this was my problem and not hers and that she didn't care to do anything about the situation. read more

To start, I want to say that I had a fun day at this spa. However, the main reason it was enjoyable was because of the group I was with. The employees at the spa were all very kind and the facial was great, but we faced some issues otherwise. First, the massage that we received was literally the worst massage. Emphasis on the worst. When you're looking forward to getting a massage and it turns out being extremely uncomfortable and not at all relaxing, it's disappointing. Second, we booked our appointments two months in advance for a specific price. Unbeknownst to us, the prices increased between us booking the appointments and the actual appointments. The least they could have done was warn that we would be paying an extra $120 for the services. Instead, we did not know until the appointments were complete and we were paying. Rather than honoring the price we agreed on when booking, we had to pay the increased price. Raising your prices is fine, but expecting someone to pay a significant amount of extra money than what they had agreed to was unprofessional and unsettling given the quality of the massage. Third, we all received manicure and pedicures with shellac nail polish. In my experience, shellac lasts at least two weeks before peeling. In this case, all of our nails were peeling off within 1-5 days of the service. We had no intention of publicly criticizing a small business online and even went as far as emailing them our concerns privately first to resolve the problem. However, we were only offered a discount for a future visit rather than a refund for the $120 extra charge. Why would we want to re-visit a place that we had a below average experience at the first time around? We are not interested in returning and that weak attempt to resolve this issue furthered the problem and our irritation. Just based on our experience during and after the spa day, I wouldn't recommend this spa. There's so many other options that, at this point, I wish we would have chosen initially. read more

First, the lady who did my waxing gave me 5 star services. But my customer service experience was horrible. I called two weeks ahead of time to go ahead and cancel My full day of appointments I had booked with the exception of the waxing. No one answered so I left a voicemail, they called me back and confirmed very clearly that she went ahead and canceled the rest of the appointments with the exception of the waxing. I called the morning before my waxing (Jan 4) because I had this bad feeling, I said "can I confirm my appointment for 9am today" and the lady on the phone said "yup we have you booked for a full day of services!" And I said "no. I called and canceled everything but the waxing." And she got defensive and said "no cuz we were closed on Jan 1 and I was on the phones bla bla bla.." and I said "no! I called back in December" .. and she said "well, I guess we are just ganna have to Deal with this when you get here.." Thank god this wasn't my word against theirs because I had the voicemail saved. I let her listen.. I said "I'm really sorry I feel bad.." the lady at the desk did not apologize or say "don't feel bad it's not your fault.." leaving me feeling like somehow it's my fault .. She sat me down in the waiting area, not offering me water or anything as she got some water for someone else. Once again I said "I'm so sorry I feel really bad.." once again no reassurance it wasn't my fault. My appointment was at 9, I didn't get called back until 9:20. I had my dad waiting in the car because he drove me there. When I finally got back there for my wax the lady who did the wax apologized on behalf of customer service. I guess that's the difference between two stars and three stars. I was debating between 2 or 3 but the waxing was a 5 star service. I don't see myself going back there though. read more

This spa is a hidden gem in Port Huron! The outside appearance gave me a not so glamorous first impression from the parking lot. However, I was immediately impressed upon entering the spa. When you walk in through the doors there is a boutique that offers nail polishes, lotions, amongst other body care products. Jessica took me back into one of the private rooms that are off of a main hallway. I liked the privacy because it offered a more personal experience. Jessica did a fantastic job, although I regret not requesting to have thinner French tips.. She was very professional and accommodating. Jessica gave me a shellac French manicure. I enjoyed the soothing music was being played though out the appointment. The room, as pictured has a few chairs and tubs. I was impressed with the how high end of a spa this was because like I mentioned, the outside entrance did not give me that impression. I liked the elegant touches inside the building; from chandeliers to large columns and copper foot tubs. UPDATE: I wish that I would have waited a little longer before reviewing. The more time that I had to stare at my nails the more I noticed imperfections. I also have had these on for about five days and they are already starting to peel up at the edges. Not very thrilled! Shellac in meant to stay on for two weeks. I will still give them 3 stars because of the professional and beautiful atmosphere but I am disappointed with the work. read more

I had made appointments 3 weeks in advance for my daughter and myself to celebrate my daughters birthday. We were scheduled to receive the European package, or so we thought. When making the appointments I had called the Spa twice to to get an available day . I was even asked to give my credit card number to reserve appointments. Are appointments were scheduled for 11am. I made hotel reservations and drove 2 1/2 hours to get there. When we arrived on our scheduled day, we were told there was no record of our appointments. I even showed Kim, my phone records from the day I had called, 3 weeks prior. This was very disappointing, how could they be so incompetent. It didn't matter to the owner. She wouldn't even give my daughter a gift certificate for future use. The owner tried pulling the trump card that she has been in business for a few years. Honestly, I really wanted to support this small business but I feel it's my obligation to warn people to proceed with caution here. First of all, between the time the appointment was booked and the actually date of the appointment, the prices had apparently been raised, but I wasn't told of this until AFTER the service was rendered. I should have been told before the appointment that the price we previously agreed on was now a lot higher. That situation felt very deceiving and sneaky. On top of this, the massage I received was horrible. It was unlike any other massage I have ever received. It was very rough, jerky, and not at all relaxing. I also received a shellac manicure and within 4 days all of my nails were chipping off. I was able to speak with the owner, but all she offered was a discount in the future and refused to even refund the price difference that I wasn't warned about. The girls that work here are very nice, and the pedicure was good, but that's all I can say unfortunately. I would recommend going elsewhere for your spa needs. read more

I spent the morning at this lovely spa yesterday with my cousin. We were enjoying a girls' weekend in Lexington, and this was the perfect start! We each chose a package containing three services. I had a massage, facial and seaweed wrap. All were amazing! From the time we walked in until the time we left, we felt welcomed and comfortable. The facility was clean, warm and very inviting. It wasn't a pretentious environment as some day spas can seem. Everyone was friendly and very knowledgeable. We left after being served a yummy lunch and had many suggestions from the staff for dinner and drinks later that evening. We have decided to make this a "twice a year" pampering trip from now on! I booked a package for a pedicure, massage and facial and was really looking forward to my spa day! The location is kind of hidden but the facility seems nice. I had only seen a few reviews within the last few years but I trusted I would have good visit, given those reviews. In hindsight I wonder if I would have enjoyed my stay better had I said I had never had any of these services. Maybe I'm just used to facials and massages being more in depth but it seems like both were somewhat lacking in attention. I did really enjoy the facial mask and was relaxed enough to doze a little. I expressed some areas of concern for my massage but felt like I was given the standard body all over. I would have preferred attention to even one of those areas I specifically mentioned even if all of the time was devoted there. My pedicure was standard but maybe the polish line is no good. The color on several toes has faded within less than a week and even though I took extra precaution to protect my new color, there were already chips and cracks. That being said, maybe I'm just expecting more because I'm slightly more seasoned to getting massages and facials. I would be willing to try a different package and/or give them another try, but if next experience was like this, I'd definitely move on. read more
