I have used A Cut Above for haircuts for quite a few years now. I have tried many others, but Fiona is by far the best I've come across in the area. The salon itself isn't anything special, and if it wasn't for the quality and skill of the hairdresser I use (who I believe is also the salon manager) then I probably wouldn't bother as it doesn't have any other appeal. In its defence, it was refurbished fairly recently and is a very nice place but then so are most of the salons in the town - good, but the haircut is more important to me, and that's where they score 5 stars. Although they mainly do ladies hair, I've seen the occasional gent or child there, and they have a full complement of services available. It's nice to feel confident in the abilities of your hairdresser, and trust them to actually do what you wanted with your hair without any nasty shocks. Fiona is well spoken about in the local area, and I'm sure I'm not the only person locally who uses this salon because of her scissor skills! read more
