IF I COULD GIVE THIS NEGATIVE STARS, I WOULD!
My husband and I rented this for one night on December 12, 2015 for our first anniversary. We were very excited, especially for the hot tub. When we pulled up to the cabin, which had an unplowed drive, my husband got out and unlocked the door to the cabin, stepped in then quickly back out after loudly exclaiming, "What the f@$! Is that smell?!". I walked in to be greeted by the malodorous stench of decades old tobacco smell covered up by at least ten cans of lysol. Morning Dew lysol to be exact. This was the first of MANY disappointing aspects to this ridiculously over priced ($222 in the off season!) shit hole. After bringing our bags in and setting them on the antique, horribly tarnished, pretty sure it's full sized, bed we ventured out to make sure the hot tub was working. Thankfully, since this was the whole reason we rented this "cabin", it was. We took the cover off to be greeted by eye stinging, nose burning, breathe taking (not in the good way) smell of an over chlorinated hot tub. Typically you wouldn't think it's a bad thing, especially when using a public hot tub but, I'm pretty sure the over chlorination was covering up the fact that they never cleaned the tub. We ventured back into the cabin to see what other surprises awaited us. I'll list our complaints so as not to make this review of the WORST CABIN RENTAL IN THE HISTORY OF EVER too long.
1. I'm pretty sure all of the furniture was picked out of a dumpster behind a thrift store.
2. Early 90's rolling office chairs were the dining chairs
3. The carpet was at least 30 years old, forest green and matted.
4. The kitchen floor was sticky.
5. The toilet seat, I especially enjoyed this feeling, stuck to me when I got up.
6. The shower head was a foot wide which was about the only cool thing about this old shack, but there was NO soap. Plenty of shampoo and conditioner in the dispensers but ZERO soap. In hindsight I probably could have used one of the many cans of lysol that were floating around.
7. The TV was a vhs/dvd combo. I typically wouldn't complain about something so trivial, but it just added to the red I was seeing.
8. We're pretty sure the great rift Valley was located in the middle of the bed.
9. In the middle of the night when we woke up because the foam pad on top of the mattress moved, I went to put it back and fix the sheets and discovered that the mattress was covered in yellow stains. I'm hoping they were just from age but the mattress was one of those really floral ones that you know weren't made since at least the 80's. I'm pretty sure they were pee stains and this also was taken out of the same dumpster as the rest of the furniture.
10. After I called and complained and was told there were absolutely no refunds, I also discovered that we had to leave the room as we found it (not a big deal since I do that regardless) but we also had to take out our own trash or we would be charged a $75 cleaning fee. What. The. Fuck.
My husband and I got the hell out at 7 am the next morning. If you're even remotely interested in renting this cabin, do yourself a favor and pitch a tent in the middle of a landfill. I can guarantee it will be a better smelling and more enjoyable stay.
P.S. After a WONDERFUL dinner at Chinooks, we came back and took the cover off the hot tub to allow the lung stinging smell of chlorine to dissipate. After a bottle of bubbling prosseco courage we got in and did enjoy the hot tub. Although we had to lean over the side a few times to get some fresh air, at least we knew we weren't going to get any infections. I'm a little surprised we got out without any chemical burns though.
P.P.S I'm pretty sure the good reviews were paid for. I don't even think a shiftless hobo would have enjoyed this place. read more
