Sunshine & Rainbows Day Care Center

Sunshine & Rainbows Day Care Center

This center embraces learning through play like none other! The quality of care is top notch, with…read morestaff members holding degrees in every room. The director holds a degree in education and in nursing, so the cleanliness is above satisfactory. My child come home happy, clean, and singing songs she learned at school. She also has a daily craft/ art project and says how much she loves she friends and teachers! I'm so thrilled to have the comfort of knowing she is in good hands while I'm at work!

The director was very generous to the staff, and follows strict guidelines set by the state of PA. The center is located in a safe neighborhood with locked, fenced in yard and security cameras installed. Home cooked meals are prepared daily for the children. The owner has been operating for 33 years and is a certified nurse. Weekly news letters and daily communication to parents are through the class dojo. However, it is up to the parents to read them. I still the center from time to time to do evaluations and the program is amazing. I always leave there in awe of what the kids are learning. I am also friends with them on Facebook. I make unannounced visits and there is never a classroom out of ratio. The children have many centers that are loaded with play materials enough for more than one child to play at a time. There are play areas set up that offer many learning experiences including STEAM and a computer area. I think this is one of the BEST daycare and preschool centers in Northeastern PA. I would highly recommended it.

I go to the Scranton center every Wednesday. I take an exercise class and have a delicious lunch…read more I am not of the Jewish faith and still they welcome my friend and I. I always enjoy my afternoons there. I recently read a post where someone was complaining because the center is closed on certain times and dates. Perhaps he should learn a little about the people and their religion before he decides they take off to many days. My thanks to the staff and volunteers.

Horrible lot . It's closed early and often. It is closed on all Jewish holidays, all federal…read moreholidays and every Saturday. It is basically closed 25% of the year. It also closes early every Friday and sometimes it inexplicably opens late and/or closes early on Sundays. It has a pool, but it is frequently booked for private parties or cannot be used because there's not a same-sex lifeguard on duty. It's also very small and people do not respect the lanes. They recently replaced all the equipment, but the new equipment is already malfunctioning. It's also all made by the same manufacturer, so if you don't like it, you're out of luck. Kids are constantly in the gym, hanging out and monopolizing equipment that they are not actually using. Calling staff enforcement of gym rules lax would actually be generous. The staff is more interested in socializing or exercising than actually doing their job. The locker rooms are often disgusting, with wet floors and clothes strewn about a common occurrence and there is no respect for boundaries or hygiene. Gym goers will sit on locker room benches completely nude, without even a towel, and think little or nothing of it. You pay a lot of money for a gym that can't be used because it's always either closed or just disgusting.

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE! Former staff speaking here!…read moreThe playground there is a black top nightmare. It reminds me of a prison school yard. The kids can take out the toys, but there aren't many options for the small black top yard. The lack of kitchen is another thing. All the food is microwaved and there are no fresh meals except peanut butter sandwiches sometimes. The staff are rude to the children and talk bad about them constantly in front of other children. Some of them play favorites and it shows. Some of the staff are also lazy. Miss Martha would leave an autistic child strapped into a high chair for hours on end just so she didn't have to keep him out of trouble. She would leave him in a soiled diaper all day long, not changing it unless absolutely needed. Then would also send him back to the toddler room so she didn't have to watch him. The toddler room teacher let this boy roam free and just kept an extra close eye on him, which he needed. Another one of the teachers would complete her school work while she was supposed to be monitoring the children. They constantly over ratio the students and the lack of toys and books is disgusting. The toys are kept out of reach of the children and they are not allowed to play with them unless the teacher says. They only have a slim selection of toys as the owner does not want to keep buying them after the kids break them, a typical expense of running a daycare. The books are nonexistent for the same reason. If a child's play breaks anything, she doesn't replace it and leaves no resources for the kids to engage with, constantly getting them in trouble with the teachers for misbehaving due to boredom. And don't even get me started on the lack of care. I witnessed illegal issues and brough it up to the owner only to be ignored after providing the documentation requested. The owner's sister is a joke. She only cooks and never helps with the kids properly. When she does, she's short and rude. Her daughter is also a huge bully to the other students and she tantrums when they don't what she wants to do. The teachers were instructed not to make copies of resources to teach the children. We were told to only print when needed but were expected to keep the children educated and entertained with no resources, educational videos, or worksheets/activities. Some of the staff were very friendly and loved the children like their own, Azra, Pashtoon, and Badriya in particular, but the rest of the staff were short, rude, and cared for only the money. Do not send your child here if you care for them!

As a parent, entrusting someone else with your child is one of the hardest things to do--but from…read morethe moment we walked into ABC KiddieKampus, we felt an overwhelming sense of warmth, professionalism, and genuine care. Our 4-year-old had struggled with separation anxiety and was behind on speech milestones when we first enrolled. We were nervous, hopeful, and honestly a bit overwhelmed. But the team at ABC didn't just meet our expectations--they exceeded them in every possible way. The teachers here are incredible. Patient, intuitive, and clearly passionate about what they do. Within weeks, we saw huge changes: our son was communicating more, excited to go to daycare, and coming home telling us about his "friends" and "Miss A." They took the time to understand his unique needs and strengths and truly partnered with us every step of the way. We especially appreciate the little things that add up to something big: the detailed daily reports, the frequent pictures of his learning and playing, and the way the staff greets him (and us) by name every single morning. They celebrate his milestones like they're their own--and as a parent, that means the world. Today, he's more confident, socially engaged, and hitting his developmental milestones with joy. And honestly, we couldn't have done it without ABC Kiddie Kampus. If you're looking for a daycare that feels like an extension of your family, this is it. Forever grateful, -- A Happy Parent
