One of the worst companies I have dealt with. They sold me a used pellet stove that did not work 2 days in a row. They were in and out of my house 5 times in a month before they decided to replace it. They were unprofessional from the start and finished the install at 1am. The manager is condescending, arrogant and has an unjustified superiority complex. One of the helpers damaged my front door to the point it would not close and just walked away without a word. I was told I would get pellets for the damage and a month's worth of aggravation. They gave me 120 lbs or about $25 worth. My mistake was believing in their honor and integrity. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone and the pellets they sell for $550 can be bought for $400. read more

The guys did a good job cleaning our fireplace insert. BUT after they left I spotted several greasy/sooty spots on the area rug in our den, apparently from their industrial vacuum. At least there are no worries with the insert so that's a plus. read more

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING !! DO NOT EVER SHOP HERE! My mother purchased a wood burning stove brand new and needed it installed professionally. The owner Tammy I need another representative went to my moms house to give a quote. After looking at that stove she just purchased the owner and her associate went out to their vehicle and stayed outside for quite a while came back in and told my mom and my brother that the stove was not compatible, Because she was on oxygen. So Tammy convinced and coerced my mother into purchasing a stove from them for three times what she paid for the one she had just purchased. My mom paid in full for the stove and the installation of it which was extremely outrageous. After learning of this I was very upset however my mom wanted a stove installed installed. Last Tuesday we found out some devastating news that my mom has cancer And the outcome is not good. My brother whom my mother takes care of because he had an accident and his paralyzed on the left side cannot operate a wood-burning stove. The stove was supposed to be installed on the 14th of this month. After learning of my mom situation I called the company to have this canceled and my mom refunded. I called immediately and was told that Tammy was not in at the moment that she would return my phone call I explain the situation and said it was urgent that we have this canceled and my mom refunded. Never heard anything back that day. I explained that Tammy needs to call me not my mom because after hearing the news she just heard she shouldn't have to deal with this situation I was going to handle it for her. The next day as I am at the store picking up my mom's prescriptions she calls me from her cell phone telling me that Tammy is on the house phone with my brother Insisting and demanding that she talk to my mom I told my mom that she needs to talk to me and I will be waiting for her phone call. I waited a couple of minutes I never got a call so I called back to the company and was told that Tammy had already gone for the day this was around noon or a little after. I left another message and asked him to call me immediately and that she needed to speak to me. The lady answering the phone told me that I couldn't handle this because I was not on my mom's account and no one can talk to me I explain to her that my mom does not need to be dealing with this and she refused to talk to me and hung up. Things had been hectic and crazy and I was trying to get a lot of other things taken care of so the next day the third day I received a call from a man name Sean Sean immediately starts telling me that there's several things that's gonna happen here and number one is that I'm not on the account so I'm not gonna be the one dealing with this it needs to be her so I stopped him right there and I told him I had him on speakerphone and my mom will tell them that she want to cancel he ignored the statement I made cut me off again and said that since this is a special order there was no refunds I told him on the receipt it's in hand writing that it was not a special order and we haven't received anything yet before I could even finish saying that he kept cutting me off rudely thank goodness the doctor was calling me at the time so I hung up with him. After speaking to the doctor I called Sean back and he was talking very rude to me immediately and cutting me off he kept telling me to look at number six and number seven number six states that everything needs to be paid for in full prior so I told him my mom paid you in full you are not out any money we haven't received anything you are paid for in full, Sean continuously kept interrupting me and told me to read number seven where is says all sales are final. I told him to go back up to Number one where it states no returns after 30 days I told him it hasn't even been 30 days and we haven't received anything I told him again you guys are not out anything he still continue to interrupt me and then he finally stated well we've never had this situation before I need to talk to Tammy and she'll call you back this afternoon. Once again I did not hear from Tammy. On the fourth day I called again this was in the afternoon by the time I had finally gotten to the end of my to do list. When I called again for the fourth day to ask for Tammy I was told that she wasn't in that she had already left and the lady answering the phone said she was already gone by the time I got to work. I thought it was kind of strange that somebody goes into work that late in the afternoon??? I told her again I need her to call me I need this to get taken care of I have other things that I'm dealing with that I shouldn't have to be doing this. On Monday morning I received a call from Tammy And one of the first things she told me was that The only thing that will be refunded is the labor and I can drive to Silver City to pick up the stove and the pipe myself and I can try and sell it and get whatever I can for it but that's All t read more

Terrible customer service. I felt like I was treated as an adversary for asking for advice On installing a stove myself. Although I was buying vent pipes from them, I was not offered instructions on how to put the system together. When I took a picture of an installation diagram they had on their desk, they acted Like I ripped off their property. When the pipes they sold me turned out to be the wrong size according to the stove installation instructions on the stove website, they charged a 15% restocking fee. I asked the owner to waive this fee since this was the size he, the expert, told me I should use. The owner asked me why I didn't exchange for 4 inch pipes with them, I explained that their prices were very much higher then other distributors in town and I had had to figure the problem out for myself so I didn't feel any loyalty to him. He kept over $100 out of my refund as a restocking fee. I highly recommend going to Ace Hardware or tractor supply just down the road for parts and supportive friendly customer service and much better prices. Stay away from this place!!! read more

YELP has this company listed as "HVAC in Silver City." I visited the company and they were dumbfounded by this listing. They have NEVER (in 30+ years of business) done HVAC. They are a Fireplace company. They sell fireplaces, pellets, and service related to...fireplaces! Not HVAC! As a newcomer to Silver City looking for a HVAC Technician to install A/C in my new mobile home, I am disappointed in YELP for their incorrect category listing for this company. read more

Bought my pellet stove there, it is amazing, heats my whole house & is so much better than propane in a plethora of ways!

While the service and maintenance on my stove was eventually completed, the process took nearly six weeks. The delay was due entirely to the company owner/serviceperson's repeated promises to return my calls ("I'll call you back in 15 minutes to schedule an appointment") were ignored. Promised return calls were never returned on at least three occasions; at least a dozen subsequent phone calls by me to the company's staff were required over the course of the time it took the company to complete the job. On more than one of these phone calls, it appeared that the company staff itself was unable to reach the owner despite his stated appointment schedule (i.e., AWOL). The only time when the owner did express an interest in pursuing the repair job was via a last-minute call on a day, stated previously to the owner, when I was unavailable. Due to the owner's forgetfulness (which he himself admitted), I was nevertheless bumped from the job queue, with no apology offered. After a month of repeated calls on my part were ignored, it required an ultimatum from me ("please let me know if you wish to pursue the completion of this job, or else I'll seek another service") before action was taken by the owner. Finally, the cost of replacing an electrical unit in the stove suddenly jumped substantially from the price quoted by the owner on the previous day's service visit. ("My mistake," claimed the owner; forgetfulness appears to be an all-too common trait with him.) Between the owner's constant attention to his cell phone (he took nearly a dozen calls during his initial service visit to my home) and his frequent "cigarette breaks," it appeared that he was unwilling or unable to focus on completing the job that he was being paid to do. The fact that this job, which was not extensive, extended needlessly to six weeks appears to support this observation. This company appears to believe that the few establishments who do this type of service in the Silver City area guarantees a market for their business. But despite the good work performed by the several technicians who visited over the course of four visits to complete the job, the company owner's irresponsibility, unprofessional behavior and entire lack of courtesy towards clients have convinced me to seek from now on the services of any of the other companies in the area that perform the same work. I would advise anyone reading this review to do the same if you wish your service to be completed in a timely and courteous manner. read more

As the only chimney sweeps in Silver City, this company thinks it can waste customer's time by not showing up, not calling that they're not coming or not calling when they're running very late. We need new chimney sweeps in town to put these bozos out of business. read more

After having trouble with the "other stove" places in town, I called A Better Chimney to come out and repair my pellet stove, They arrived on time and were able to fix my stove right the first time and did not charge me a arm and a leg. I suggest calling them the first time and saving yourself a ton of money! read more
