The last four years "Tiger" was diabetic having to use insulin and tested twice a day to keep his blood sugar in check. Everyone was so kind with helping us get this procedure completed correctly. Through several major surgeries and normal visits to the vet we always knew he would receive the best care around. We boarded "Tiger" once a year while we were out of state. As loving as he was the technicians always enjoyed taking care of him until we returned. The past several months "Tiger" had become confused in where he was and would cry when he walked. His appetite diminished and he slept most of the day. Sadly, on January 19, 2026 we decided to let our loving friend go in peace. Doctor Charlie let me hold my loving "Tiger" in my arms as he administrated the last shot. "Tiger" is gone but we now have the kind memories of him and all the wonderful care he received at the Animal Medical Center in Lehigh Acres, Florida. I searched high and low for a crematorium that showed a caring attitude throughout the Ft. Myers/Lehigh Acres area, prior to my beautiful boys passing. I knew his days were numbered and I wanted to have all my ducks in a row. I won't get into bashing the others, but I don't trust anyone in the Lehigh Acres area. Especially when it shows a business in a neighborhood!? Ft. Myers SEEMED attractive and the name of the place appeared appealing at first, BUT the business (in a small strip mall) DIDN'T HAVE AN EXHAUST FLUE? This tidbit told me that it was a middleman business. The Cape has a crematorium facility, but have fun parking there AND the facility includes a plain wood urn (w/no picture slot) but if you want one w/a picture slot that's "EXTRA"!? Coastal Crematorium located off of I-41 is worth the trip. They have an oven AND you don't have to pay extra for an Urn for your furry friend. They have extra nice quality trinkets that are sold seperately, so you can wear your cremated friends ashes around your neck. Included with the cremation price, which was very reasonable, you receive a small velor bag, a cremation (death) certificate and w/the purchase of the pictur urn, these good people engrave your loved ones name on top! It's a nice touch that brought tears to my eyes! I was QUITE IMPRESSED with COASTAL PET CREMATION and HIGHLY recommend them! You won't be sorry! I didn't have a long wait and my sick bird was promptly taken care of. The vet clinic is clean and there are several people at the front desk to assist with clients and their pets. The process goes fast, considering they take walk in appointments. This is a large clinic and they have a lot of exam rooms and that's a good thing, since it makes getting in and out much faster. The staff is friendly and helpful and the vet was informative about my bird. The cost is average to above, but considering you don't have to call in and wait days for an appointment, this is a plus. You never know when your animals will get sick and this clinic is much less expensive than an emergency vet clinic. Ask me how I know. I was surprised at some of the reviews, since this clinic seems like a good place to take your pet. They accept pets with fur, feathers and scales, so that just about covers everything. Colonial Animal Hospital was a good find, I have an equine and dog vet and will add them to the mix for my bird.

This morning started out completely chaotic when I discovered my week-old baby chick had a string…read moretightly wrapped around her tongue. I tried everything, but I couldn't safely get scissors between the string and her tiny tongue. Panicked, I rushed her to San Carlos Animal Hospital hoping someone could help. Even though they normally don't see baby chicks, the staff immediately went to ask the doctor if they could at least remove the string. The moment Dr. Steely came out, they quickly took my chick straight to the back, and within minutes he had the string removed using tiny precision scissors. The urgency, compassion, and kindness they showed for such a tiny little life absolutely amazed me. Everyone there was so wonderful through the entire process, and I'm incredibly grateful they took the time to help her so quickly. Thank you all so much for caring the way you do.
