My father had his Automatic Omega Seamaster serviced here just over 2 years ago for £750. In the…read morelast month, it started losing about 4 minutes of time every day. He took it back to Hinds and they told him it was no longer inside the 2-year warranty and it would cost £500 to fix. This is absolutely appalling. He has since spoken to official Omega stores and they said that after it was serviced the time should be consistent for far more years than just 2. This is absolutely disgusting from a high street shop which my father has been frequenting for years. Unless they fix this he and his family will never be back, and we will be telling all our friends about it and warning them not to go to F.Hinds.

They have a wide range of gold and silver jewellery as well as watches and other jewellery items. They also have on display some gorgeous items that would be suitable for christening gift and other landmark occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries. It is only a small shop so there would not be much room for pushchairs but there is a covered area outside the shop which gives you the chance to browse items on display in the windows before entering the shop. I have always found the staff to be most helpful and they offer a repairs service and alteration service.

The jewellery is clearly displayed in shiny glass display cabinets which always appear to be clean. There is a good choice of jewellery and watches and they also have ornaments and figurines such as the me to you collection. The only problem I have had is when I lost a stone out of a ring 3 times, the first 2 were fixed for free but for the 3rd they wanted £50 as it was out of the warranty which I thought was excessive when the ring only cost £99.

I love this antique shop!…read more It is quite small, but crammed full of interesting bits and bobs, pretty furniture, silver, fine china and decorative glass. They also have some really nice jewellery at incredibly reasonable prices. I found my engagement ring here, after my fiancée and I had spent aaages traipsing around Hatton Gardens and other London antique shops... in London rings were either a little boring (well, similar designs again and again in each shop), or beautiful but completely out of our price range! The range of jewellery here isn't huge, but it is all good quality and really lovely, especially if you like things that sparkle from the 1920s-1930s. I actually just popped in here with my mum the first time, saw my lovely ring, and then had to wait a week before I could drag poor Marc all the way to Oundle to take a peek at it. Re-sizing was included in the price so a few weeks later we returned again to pick up my pretty, sparkly ring. Normally when you buy rings they lose half their value as soon as you walk out of the shop...but here we had the opposite experience. The insurance certificate they wrote out for us said that it would cost twice as much as we paid for it to replace the ring. This is probably correct as it cost about half the price of similar rings I saw in London. (Eep- I better not lose it!!) So Green man antiques offers amazing value as well as sparkles. The lady in charge of the shop, Vicky was really helpful, friendly and has excellent taste in shoes (well...she complemented me on my shoes anyway...)
