I needed transportation and was never able to talk to anyone at A-1 as they never answered their phone. An answering machine picked up the call every time, left a message every call, they never returned my calls. I was left stranded for hours before I found a ride. A-1 doesn't seem to be in business any longer. They were the only taxi service left in Norman, Ok and if they have gone out of business, then Norman has no local taxi service any more. read more

I've only had to use them a couple times and I would use them again. Great dispatch service. Friendly and accommodating. On my first use, I had scheduled for an 8 am pickup, but then that morning, I was able for an earlier pickup and they got someone to me right away. The second time I called, they told me it may take about 25 minutes to get to me. So they did let me know there would be a delay. Both times, the drivers were courteous. I was picked up in a cab that REEKED of cigarette smoke. I smelled it the moment I was loading my luggage into the trunk because the driver didn't get out of the car to assist with that. I asked the driver if he was smoking in the cab and he said yes. It was 430 in the morning and I didn't have time to get back out of the cab and call another--so out of necessity I road to the airport with my window down--in 35 degree weather. The driver was polite and apologized for the smoke issue--but that did nothing to resolve my burning eyes, or the fact that my clothes and hair reeked like smoke upon arrival, and certainly didn't resolve my coughing and wheezing. A-1 taxi is a locally owned service that runs like a typical car service of yore. No website, no email requests. You call; they come. We took a cab about 20 miles from hotel to Norman for about $60 with tip. Kind of pricey, but the driver was friendly and ready to pick us up whenever we wanted. He was helpful in pointing out landmarks of interest, too. Nice guy. read more

It's not as if I don't appreciate local businesses. I do - which is why I gave A-1 a chance. As an out-of-town businessman who wanted to enjoy a few cocktails and watch some hoops, I thought that the prudent thing to do would be to call a taxi to safely enjoy my evening. I called the dispatcher at a quarter past midnight to have a taxi pick me up for my mile-and-a-half ride back to my hotel near I-35. Understand that this was a quiet Tuesday night. After two phone calls and an hour plus wait a taxi finally picked me up. All I ask of a company that finds itself, for whatever reason, unable to provide expected service, is a brief, polite apology and a recommendation for another service capable of satisfying my needs. Instead of an hour plus wait, a sincere "I'm sorry," and the phone number of another company to provide taxi service would have rendered a Yelp accolade instead of a rebuke. read more

We started using this cab service when we got tired of yellow cabs rudeness and no shows. At first A-1 cab was great. They were on time and polite. Now, we called started calling at 1 pm for a cab to pick us up for a meeting at 6:00pm. 7 pm rolls around and we are told he is on his way. 7:45 comes and no cab... Missed important meeting. I did like these guys until today. I called them at 1:00 pm for an important meeting and I needed someone to pick me up at 6:00 sharp. My es sir, no problem sir, just call again later to make sure we have you covered. 5 pm comes and I call again. We will be there in an hour. It is now past 8 and no cab, missed my meeting and the opportunity it presented, and no phone call from them apologizing. read more

I've used A-1 several times. Each time the driver was exceptional. A-1 drivers are very nice and kind people. I will only use this company.

My experience was very terrible to be honest, the driver drove the wrong way the whole time going very far out of the way of my destination and made very intentional turns to make the trip even further.. She even acknowledged that she knew where she was going... I was quoted 6 dollars and I ended up paying more than 10 and driving twice the distance to the destination I would not use this taxi service or at the very least I would not tip if the driver does something greedy like mine. read more

On January 10, 2018 my boyfriend and I called A1 Taxi to pick us up at La Quinta in Norman and take us to Riverwind Casino. My boyfriend's cell phone fell out of his pocket and was left in the cab. After several calls the cab company said that they had the phone and would bring it to us for a $5 delivery fee. When the phone was returned, it had been turned off and the SIM card stolen. The supervisor said that maybe another customer had taken it.  I know the driver was clearly on some kind of drugs and didn't even know how to get to our destination that was 2 miles away.  I realize that it's my phone and responsibility but I also believe the driver took my SIM card.  The supervisor was less than helpful and basically said "too bad"    Terrible customer service. read more

I called for a taxi and they told me the wait would be 20-25 min. I explained that I was late to work and that my ride did not show up to get me. The dispatcher was friendly and told me that she would rush him over right away. 45 min pass and I am standing outside and the cab still has not shown...So I go back to my room to make a call to them to find out what the problem is and this time it is a new dispatcher and she then tells me that it is going to be another 30 min on top of the 45 min I have already waited. There are other cab companies in Norman that can provide better service than this Company. They make promises they cannot keep. I am positive that I was bumped for another call. I am writing this review 1 hour and 10 min in and still waiting on the cab. They did not call to even tell me there would be a delay. read more

Unreliable. 100% of the times we have called for a cab, the taxi was late. Not just a little late--EXTREMELY late. When your car is in the shop for a month and you need to get to work, it's a big deal. Questionable ethics. The service knew we needed to go to a bus stop, and by being late we missed the bus each time, which meant they had to take us across town to work. This happened, without fail, every single time we used their service. I find it hard to believe that even though we called as much as an hour or more in advance and planned extra time in case they were late, they we would "just" miss the bus each time. Unprofessional. The driver also talked non-stop about his political views (which I did not share) and ignored polite attempts to change the conversation. Expensive. The driver also took the long way to my destination, adding to the cost of travel. Poor customer service. When I complained to the service to the company and how much their mistakes cost our family (being late for work, paying extra, etc) and how unprofessional they were being, the lady said, "I already apologized. I don't know what else you want." If I could give this service 0 stars, I would. I would rather walk across town than take this service again. read more

i called them at 4 pm and it is 8 pm and they are still not here. They are always shorthanded. They are flaky .They are cheaper then yellow cab . They are all we have. So some days they show up and other times they are totally unprofessional. I miss seeing taxis everywhere like in New york. read more

AWFUL!! they never came to pick us up and take us to the airport! We missed our flight and can't fly out till the next day. We are out over $400 now. What and awesome start to our honeymoon. When we attempted to call them they wouldn't answer.. And when they finally did they proceeded to put us on hold. Never use them. They put make locally owned business look terrible. read more

I have been using A-1 taxi for almost a year now, at first the service I received was excellent. They were reliable and friendly. I even continued to use them after I was involved in an auto accident with this company. As time went on the drivers became very rude and arrogant (mainly Sam #31). There are a few others but he is the worst I have ever encountered. I had time calls set every morning for 8:00a.m. and they had given my time call to another individual and so my time calls were made at 8:20a.m. A-1 taxi was never reliable once it came to this time change they would arrive between 8:45a.m. and 8:50a.m. putting my job at risk. This morning I had the rudest driver which I only had 3 times and he called Ms. Debra to let her know of my complaining due to the time in which they arrived. I attempted to call Ms. Debra who heads up the office and my call was disconnected. Ms. Debra had called me a few seconds after my attempt at calling them letting me know that they "were done with me". I attempted to let Ms. Debra know what had happened and she would not even hear of anything that I had to say. Last time I checked this is no way to run a cab service. Cabs should be prompt and reliable IF a time call is set. I understand they may be a little late but not 20 to 30 minutes late once it comes to placing a time call. Customers should come first and be heard at all times just as their employees are; especially when it comes to someone using them so frequently for almost a year. This cab company I would not recommend to anyone IF you are looking for a reliable mode of transportation to get to work. read more

I called to get a cab to take me several blocks to a football game. It was going to be less than a $10 ride. They told me it would be about an hour then when I was finally called and told a can could get me, I said I was sorry but we didn't need it anymore and would like to just cancel it. The man paused and rudely said "fine" then hung up on me. I understand cancelations are probably annoying but that is no excuse for being rude and hanging up on a customer. Customer service goes a long way with me, as you can tell from the rating. Will not be using them again. read more

I want to love this local company. I've used their services several times in the past, but I'm finding it impossible to maintain a positive attitude after the last experience I had with them. I called three hours in advance to schedule a taxi to pick me up from work. Ten minutes after the scheduled pick up time, no taxi. "Eh. No big deal", I thought. I called to make sure they were still on their way, and the dispatcher told me that my driver had to take someone to the emergency room, and that he was running behind. I was assured that he was on his way and would be there "within ten minutes". Fifteen minutes later, no taxi. I call again, and the dispatcher says, "Let me call him on the radio and get his exact ETA". She tells me, "He's 5-6 minutes away, I'm so sorry for the delay." Okay. Whatever. Another fifteen minutes passes. No taxi. At this point, I am completely frustrated, so I call the home office again. This time, I'm given a story about the owner of A-1 being rushed to the ER "via ambulance", which totally negates the excuse I was given initially and, honestly, pissed me off more because the whole thing sounded like complete and total hoodrat sketchiness. The dispatcher assured me that the driver was "around the corner" and would be there within minutes. At this point it's 45 minutes after my scheduled pick up time, and I just want to be home after a long day at work. The driver eventually arrives (53 minutes past the scheduled pick up time), I get in the car, and the first thing he says to me after looking at his little chart was, "Oh, man. Looks like someone forgot about you!" I wanted to SCREAM. A-1 Taxi is the worst. Call literally anyone else for a ride before you call this trashball of a company. read more

Waited over an hour for cab to arrive. Accidentally left my phone in the cab (yeah... dumb). Manager was very rude and condescending when I called to retrieve it the next day. Said "The cab was cleaned when brought in at the end of the shift and GUESS WHAT WAS NOT IN THERE?" Jerk. Won't use them again. read more
