I don't think I have ever met a more attentive and pleasant staff in my life. Not only was my cashier quick and efficient, he was such a pleasure to talk to. I even left an item behind and he ran outside to give it to me. I have been to other 99 cent stores and they were nowhere near as amazing as this one. I used to love going to this store most of the employees are great the prices have risen more and more and they are always saying "Sorry we haven't been able to change all the prices." Do you see Walmart having this problem NO because they do their job? This store has the worst smell ever it always smells like spoiled milk, and the floor is dirty. One day when buying grapes and cherries the bag was filled with mold. Most of the can goods be expired. I witness the manager yelling at many employees I don't understand how they do it cause I could never work for someone like that. They work hard and still always have a smile on their faces. If price is all that matters, you're in the right store... even though they mark SOME stuff up as high as "regular" stores. Even though it's CALLED 99 cent only, it's not. No problem; I just don't buy that stuff there, but why customer service seems non-existent in almost every discount store with "dollar" in the word OR in this case "99 cents", is... well.... come to be expected, I guess is the only phrase I can think of! You hardly EVER find such rudeness in larger chain stores and I just don't get it!!! Sometimes, it's not worth the effort to save a few bucks and sometimes, ya' just gotta' take the hit! The 99 Cents Only chain stocks a rotating array of quirky, discounted items and some unusual gourmet and international selections of food; for instance, tins of mussels, oysters, sardines; large array off Mexican spices; and cans of unusual coffee in all its forms. The candy aisle has more varieties of candy that I've every seen in one place, including much high-quality chocolate. The northmost aisle has soy milk, dried fruit, steel-cut oats, specialty jams, vegetarian refried beans, salsa, and just about any dried bean you could want and pasta,including whole wheat pasta. Also always in stock are whole wheat tortillas and regular corn tostadas.The produce is reliable. Maybe the potatoes are not perfectly shaped, but just as good. (Newsflash: fruits and vegetables are natural products, not meant to be perfect.) The apples are amazing. In season, this store stocks more exotic fruit, including pluots (a plum-apricot hybrid). A few months ago, I contacted the home office in California asking if this store could be allocated some cart corrals, as the only existing corral was in an inconvenient location. The parking lot was filled with errant carts, as returning the cart to the corral near the entrance was too inconvenient. Less than 72 hours later, the 18-wheeler from California delivered three cart corrals, which the store employees installed in the parking lot, Now the majority of customers wheel carts to the parking lot corrals. read more
