I don't listen to 96.3 as much as I used to, but after hearing a commercial break prompt to leave Yelp reviews, I had to write an update. 96.3 WDVD is our go to station on our Echo when we are working around the house, as long as it is broadcasting online or through iHeart Radio; otherwise, the streaming doesn't work. Late in the evenings and weekends, there are good long music blocks and less talk. The programming changed a few years ago, for which was a surprise, but welcomed. More top 40 pop and less adult contemporary. A little less repetitive too, compared to other stations. It is, however, not my go to station when I need to get pumped up before a workout. 96.3 WDVD used to be my morning show go-to however, it hasn't been for awhile now. Not because of Allyson's departure but for the lack-luster show that followed her exit. A lot of people were upset she was booted, but I think it was a good move by the station. They had a chance to really kick up the morning show since booting the whining annoying lazy cat lady, but it all fell flat and I stopped listening. The station signal doesn't reach as far or as well as it used to, just a couple years ago, and something happened with our phone access to the radio station, so I don't listen for contests anymore. We can't get through on our phone lines, at all, and I don't get signal reception in downtown Ann Arbor on my regular radio. Listening online is delayed more than 3 minutes during the day, so it's not worth trying for the contests and the online streaming commercials are so long and annoying, it's not worth trying to listen at my desk. I end up turning it off after a couple songs. So lots of changes, not all good nor all bad, just flat. It's still Okay station, when there is reception, it's streaming online and when you just need background noise. read more

If I could give no stars I would. I entered to win a trip to Florida and they called me and told me I won! I was so excited. They told me I would get papers in the mail after all the other Florida trips were given away. I waited a while and didn't get anything. I emailed them telling them my situation and they told me it should be sent soon. Then they emails me again and told me they misinformed me on the phone and I didn't win. I was entered into a smaller drawing and lost. It was very unprofessional and rude. As for the radio show I feel like their personalities are bland to say the least. Also, the Deal Breakers segment is so fake! I don't believe a word of it. I will never listen to the station again! Horrible!!! read more

I moved away and came back to visit. Wth happened to Allyson? Blaine always sucked. Hum mm, what a let down. I would give it no stars, but that's not an option. And the new girl, really? It's kinda like when they had Lisa or Dana, they didn't add anything to the show, but now you have nothing plus nothing= a whole lot of nothing. Although everyone is making this about Allison, I will say that I like the music...it's the only station I have on in my car. I think there is a good variety..but I will say..I'm getting sick of Ed Sheerhan and Taylor Swift. If I hear Delicate or Perfect one more time you will see me screaming in the car. I've had 96.3 and e station #1 on my cars preset for YEARS! Until they fired Allyson. Idiots. They obviously don't live up to my standards. Loyalty, honest, integrity. After 20 years of service I can't see what would make you fire the best person in your company. !!! Since my original review got deleted because I didn't give a "useful tip" My tip would to be to hire Allyson back and maybe give her a sizable raise - she is worth so MUCH to Detroit and everyone that listens to her. The Blaine Fowler show is bland, with sophomoric humor, and Lauren adds nothing except as a generic female side kick. The chemistry between Blaine and Allyson Martinek, who was unceremoniously fired last summer after a 20-year career on 96.3, was what kept me tuned in. I hope the ratings have shown the error of that decision. read more

WDVD has been playing hit music since I was in high school, but my admiration for the station goes beyond the hits. Blaine & Allyson in the Morning is a funny, topical, and entertaining show that I enjoy very much. Earlier this year, a client of mine decided to advertise his business on 96.3, and they treated us like royalty. Blaine, Allyson, their sales rep Kristi, and production director Steve took the time to ensure my client was welcome and his commercials were effective. If you need to reach a large number of metro Detroit listeners, especially females, I encourage you to advertsie on WDVD. read more

I used to be a loyal listener and loved the Blaine and Allyson morning show. I can't imagine what prompted the firing of Allyson, particularly since she is funny, witty, charismatic, genuine and a bright spot to my mornings. Since her departure, the morning show is drab. I like Blaine, but he can't hold the show and it is quite frankly awful now. I no longer listen to any cumulus stations and whoever had the bright (said with the utmost sarcasm) should be fired. I don't care for Robbie. He tries to be cleaver and he ends of making insulting or derogatory comments about almost every topic he discusses. Very seldom has anything nice to say. I used to listen to WDVD every morning because of Allyson Martinek, until recently when she was presumably let go. She is such an upbeat and caring personality, I cannot even begin to listen to the station without her. Allyson had a great dynamic with the other dj, and that is now gone. She has a huge fan base in the metro area and it really baffles me why they wouldn't listen to their audience. I have been a DIE HARD 96.3 listener for a million years UNTIL it was found necessary to fire Allyson Martinek. After 20 years of service she was fired after returning from vacation. Who does that?!?!?! I cannot believe a company like Cumulus would do something to idiotic as to fire the main reason so many people listened. And what is even more foolish is that they are bringing in these female news people to try and do something for the show - have yet to figure out what because they are not funny or personable in anyway shape or form. When you fired Allyson you lost the entire morning show. I have tried to listen a few times and found it hard to listen as there is nothing good, funny, personable, solid about the morning show now. In all honesty it is painful to try and listen to Blaine. Speaks volumes about what kind of company Cumulus truly is and how they treat their loyal employees. I moved to the area in 2008 and after listening to The Blaine & Allyson show once I was hooked! In those 7+ yrs I have laughed, cried and everything in between. I've won a lot of contests by being a loyal, dedicated and avid morning listener. I was ecstatic when I found out I could listen to Blaine & Allyson from the WDVD website since my work in Ann Arbor had horrible radio reception. I was sometimes late to work because I was in my car in the parking lot listening to Blaine & Allyson. I felt like I really knew them both. When I found out they were on Facebook I looked them up and I friend requested them both right away. They both are genuine great great people. My daughter and I were on vacation in Orlando a few weeks ago and I can't even begin to describe how I felt when I woke up on Tuesday morning July 28th and as I was scrolling through Facebook I saw a post tagging Allyson and asking her what was going on with the morning show. When I clicked on Allyson's page I was horrified to read all the posts from people asking what was going on. Do you know that there is a limit to 5000 friends on Facebook? And that Allyson has 5000 friends PLUS more that subscribe to her on Facebook?!? Do you even know how many people care for her not even knowing her but only because she has opened her life to us every single day and has obviously made a connection with 5000 + listeners?!? Do you even care? Nope, because a company that lets a person take a vacation and then fire them the day they come back is disgusting! Not to mention she gave the station 20 yrs! 20 yrs!!! I haven't even attempted to listen to the "new" show and I will not, even the station itself. I wish Yelp would let people rate zero stars because you deserve nothing! read more

I was a morning drive listener for many years, until the end of July. In those many years 96.3 WDVD had removed less popular on air personalities with no forewarning or explanation. In July, with no regard for their loyal listeners they did it again. On Monday it was Blaine and Allyson in the morning, show as usual, and on Tuesday it was The Blaine Fowler Morning Show?? No mention of Allyson, the witty, funny better half of the show.. Just gone? A recommendation I would make to the decision makers would be to treat their listeners with enough respect to make a press release truthfully explaining why the change was made. I don't enjoy Blaine and Joe without Allyson so I am not listening to them in the morning. However, even if I did still like the show I would choose not to give my business to a company that has so little respect for me as to end the relationship I had with their morning show with no explanation.
