They really enjoy this! I don't think there was a bad seat in the house. I could see the stage very well, and my seat was very comfortable. The restrooms were centrally located. No waiting. Very tidy. I enjoyed the snack bar and merchandise tables so much. How wonderful we were able to enjoy lovely teaching a meditation from Gen-la Dekyong. She is a no deed none in the Kadampa Modern Buddhism Tradition. She is like the pope of this Buddhist tradition and she's a woman. She's a gentle woman, and she really shares her vast knowledge as one of Geshle's original students in the UNITED kingdom 40 + years of practicing education, tourism . Fun and enlightening!! Such a wonderful evening. This teaching was called "a life without fear " & she gave such profound wisdom with us all. It was nice to see a souvenir on the wall. Pictures in frames of starts that recorders and performed here. Gorgeous!!! I would love to return again.

It's a straightforward theater so it's pretty easy to recognize where you need to go, but of course there is staff to help you to your seat anyway. The seats. The seats completely derail me everytime in these theaters. I'm sure there is not much that can be done as they want to keep their historical presence, but it's worse than an airplane seat. If you struggle to get comfortable in an airplane you'll surely struggle here. For a tall person, it's worse than an airplane seat, your knees WILL be in the person in front of you's neck, at least in the balcony. I am 5'8" and my legs were at an uncomfortable 45 degree angle with knees against the top of the seat in front of me. We are just built bigger than people were back then, and it makes those theaters really hard to get comfortable in. I was lucky enough to sit in the front row on my first visit, and that was much better when it comes to leg room. I didn't like the cocktail I got which was disappointing because it was $24!!!! It comes with a cute cup but it definitely wasn't worth it, I only had 3 sips. I think the bartender was heavy handed with the alcohol, which is a plus for some I guess. To be on the safe side and not waste your money, you might want to go with something that you know the taste of, like a beer or wine, but you'll still have to buy the cup (and you'll get $6 off the next pour). Overall it's a good experience, I've had a front row view and I've had a balcony view and both were great in terms of visibility.

Perhaps because of it's place in history, Marble has been able to become one of the most forward thinking and inspirational churches in America. For me, on a personal level, it is my home. Marble is one of the most welcoming places I have ever been. On a typical Sunday, there will be tourists from all over the world and probably some Hedge Fund millionaires and a few homeless all mixed together with people from every background, it is a very diverse congregation. I'm going to return to take photos. There's a quiet room. Employees are helpful and they have a restroom. I'm always saying there's no excuse for not getting the book you want. They will order it and have it ready for pick up at your local branch. Get the digital reader. They are adding to their digital library collection all the time. I'm posting some books. Some may have been banned. All are available for reading. If you can't find it I'll lend you my copy! Knowledge is Power!

The Bloomingdale branch is better than ever! This is the…read morefirst time I've been back since the renovation. I didn't go to the second floor where the Children's section and the restrooms are so I can't speak on them. But I hope they added stalls to that weird Ladies restroom. There was WAY too much room to only have a single toilet. The big change on the first floor is the new Teen room. The main area is so much quieter now. Not that the kids were ever rowdy, it's just that it's impossible for any group of teens to keep to library standards of quiet. I came to print out some documents (my Epson gave up the ghost) and to renew my library card. NYPL cards expire every 3 years. I only realized mine had expired when I tried to use the kanopy app, which is a collection of films you can use your library card to view. My timing was great because there's a limited edition card celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop. It's a fantastic looking card. Much better than the Queens Library one in my opinion. It was my first time using the printer here. There are various rates according to size and media but a regular 8"x11" black & white page is 20¢ each. The process isn't too confusing but if you need help a librarian will be happy to help you. There's a time limit on the computers and you're able to make a reservation at the screen next to the printer. I only needed the 15 min. limit computer so I was in and out fast. The hours are great. They're open until 7pm Mon-Thurs, 5pm Fri-Sat, closed on Sunday. I love the NY Public Library. It's the absolute best.

Brutally unpleasant place if you happen to be an adult; it's almost entirely geared toward children…read moreand their nannies, spacewise. Incredibly, you're banned from occupying any space whatsoever on the spacious ground floor if you're an adult and not there with a child. The basement level is given over to a 2nd-hand bookstore; this leaves a 2nd floor where the most pleasant space by the windows is entirely roped off for teenagers and their tutors after 3 pm. The section can sit there almost entirely empty until closing (see photo from 4:30 pm midweek), but that's the deal. The explanation here is that "it's for their safety." (From whom, pray?) The unpleasant mid-section is mainly given over to computer use overseen by a library worker too often on the phone. Sure, there's a table accommodating 8 adults cheek by jowl...over by the toilets, and yes, you hear the toilets. Sure, an NYC library is allowed to have designated children's areas and designated teen areas. But what if those areas eat an entire floor and, to boot, a whole third of the remaining floor space in a library that is a meager two floors, with a vastly smaller second floor? It's hard to understand how this is allowed, given who pays the taxes on these places--it's not the under-12 set, and the role of Manhattan's libraries is not to fill in as de facto day camps.

The Yorkville 81st Street Block Association has been uniting the neighborhood residents and…read morebusiness community for years. You can follow their activities on their social media page. I've also followed their activity in the Upper East Side newsletters. A few years ago there was a incident where a person destroyed the lovely birdhouses that line 81 Street between First Avenue and York Avenue. This year I was happy to learn that the association was involved in the return of the birdhouses. The birdhouses are now seasonal from the spring to some time in November. When I learned they were up to view I decided I would take the time to visit. I've been photographing them for a few years now. I have a lot of photos taken on August 6, 2023. If you enjoy this craft and birdhouses you should enjoy my photos. I'm going to post 10 photos each day for as long as I have photos from this year to show you. In the meantime I want to commend the association for bringing together their residents and our community. I'm definitely a fan and recommend you visit this street and neighborhood. The shopping and eating establishments are amazing! It's neighborhood living Manhattan style.

I always like to support Earth Day events so when I heard that the Essex County Environmental…read moreCenter was hosting such an event on Saturday, April 23, I drove over. The event ran from 11 am-3pm and I arrived around 12. At that time the parking lot was full and I had to park in the supplimental lot across the street. Even the overflow lot required waiting for a parking space. No complaints about having to wait, it was just nice to see so many people concerned about environmental issues. I thought that this was a particularly well run event structured for all ages. Rutger's Master Gardeners had a tent set up and I had a chance to visit with some friends. A booth was set up by the Essex County Bee Keepers, as well. for younger adults, Turtle Back Zoo brought animals to show case, Mad Scientists performed demonstrations and ocean and rock fossils were on display. Face-painting, food trucks, live music, a eco-market, hands-on educational games for kids were some of the other activities. There are nature trails, canoe launches, a rock climbing tower and a Lenni Lenape village set-up to explore. The event was free to the public.
