Lots of thoughts about this place - both good and bad. I figured it was easier to list:
Good:
- the bartenders and staff at check in were extremely friendly, and wonderful to talk to.
- at check in, the staff provided us with a free public transportation card and a map for us to get all around the city.
- They have a pool, sauna and hot tub - which I assume many hotels in the city don't have. This area was very clean.
- Hotel was centrally located to a lot of things and very easy to get to from public transportation.
- They had a safe in the room - the first hotel in our two weeks in Europe to offer one.
Not So Good:
- the rooms were extremely cramped and small. We were told we got upgraded to a 'club room' but I can't imagine what the smaller version would have looked like.
- There was a very weird/gross smell coming from the shower throughout our entire stay - like moldy.
- The hot tub was not at all hot. Kind of cold actually.
- Shower water didn't stay hot for more than a few minutes. We had to keep increasing the temperature but had to cut our showers short if we didn't want cold water.
- The elevator in the lobby could not have been smaller. My boyfriend and I and our two bags couldn't fit in it together. My bag and I could barely fit in it together.
- There was no AC so the room felt very hot. We tried to cold it down but it was so loud outside. We couldn't decide sweating and being hot versus trying to fall asleep with how loud it was outside.
- The noise. The noise from the street was crazy, coming from someone who sleeps with earplugs every night it was still so loud. It was like we were on the street.
- We didn't know before we got there that Pâquis is considered the red light district. We didn't feel unsafe, but there were hookers visible from the hotel. So that was kinda weird.
- Finally, the shower situation. The shower had glass walls and was located in the middle of the room by separated by a curtain. I was staying with my boyfriend, so i didn't necessarily mind, but had I been staying with a parent or friend I would not have felt comfortable with how visible it was. read more
