This place is really cool. They have outdoor bays that are lined with mulch and very well maintained with a variety of axe weights/sizes to choose from. The staff is friendly and really helpful with tips to improve your throwing. It is perfect for a group event and you can bring your own food and beverages. If you bring alcohol they allow beer and wine but no hard liquor. I came here with a group on a weekday after 5 and we had the place to ourselves. They have seating areas and cornhole behind the throwing lanes and a spacious gravel parking area. read more

This is a cool spot! I have never seen outside axe throwing, so this was a first and I really enjoyed it! Being crammed inside all year, it was white literally a breath of fresh air. The owner as our coach and he was super friendly, knowledgeable, and cared a lot about safety! This is a cool little place that's also BYOB which was neat! We also learned cool tricks and were guided on the best way to hit the bullseye! read more

We drive by this place almost every day and decided to take our oldest teen there for his birthday. We had never been to any axe throwing. Penny greeted us right away and was so sweet, and Ben was our coach and he's great! Really nice people, really good activity to hang out and pass time and energy with. My son loved it! We will definitely be returning! read more

Cool place to escape and release some stress. We enjoyed axe throwing and playing cornhole. Time well spent with the family but great for date night (looking forward to it). Penny and Weston were lovely host. Made us feel welcomed. No food but you can take your own, as well as drinks. read more

Established in 2019.

This wild and fun craze has made its way to Knoxville! Come experience the first outdoor axe-throwing venue in the area and see what the buzz is about. Axe throwing is a great activity for all kinds of groups and events. Whether you're looking for a unique date night, a fun scout-group outing or a team-building retreat, 865 Axe Throwing is the place to be! We provide the axes, targets, lanes and Throw Coaches. Reservations are best because of limited space, but walk ins are welcome. If axes aren't your thing, we also have lawn games, firepits and plenty of space for relaxing and enjoying the beauty of East Tennessee. Feel free to bring your own food or purchase some from our Snack Bar.

Meet the Business Owner: Weston and Penny B.

Raised on Babelay Farms, Weston Babelay always knew he wanted to come back and breathe the next generation of life into his home. In 2015, he met the love of his life, Penny, at John Knox Camp & Retreat Center where she served as Program Director for over eight years. After the two were married in 2018, they decided to combine their shared passions for community and hospitality, move back to the farm, and get to work. Penny and Weston spent much of 2018 visiting axe-throwing venues across the country. Now, they're putting together their favorite aspects of the sport, blending in that beloved Knoxville charm, and bringing you 865 Axe Throwing. "Coming back to the Farm has always been a dream for me," says Weston. "Getting to do so with my wife, through the lens of this awesome new pastime, is a dream come true!" The Babelays look forward to seeing you at the Farm.

I'd suggest you rent from the one near where you stay. the lake is huge so distance is a big factor.
