Just sharing our experience so others are aware. My boyfriend worked over 95 hours for this concrete company on a job that was about 7 hours away from home. He was told to bring an employee along the 7 hour road trip. He was also required to use his own truck to transport workers between job sites and their Airbnb. His truck was left in poor condition with paint and trash everywhere, with no regard for his property. I also personally believe he did not receive proper compensation for the use of his personal vehicle, which added to the frustration of the situation. Getting paid overall was unnecessarily difficult. Even though he was eventually paid, communication was inconsistent and the entire process felt disorganized and difficult to deal with. The owner/operator (Joe) came across as rude, dismissive, and difficult to work with. At one point, there were also requests for additional personal information after the work was already completed, which felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. Overall, the experience raised serious concerns about professionalism, communication, and reliability. I strongly recommend that anyone considering hiring 850Concrete proceed with caution. Our experience with this company has been extremely frustrating and costly due to poor workmanship, property damage, and a lack of accountability after the work was completed. We hired them to install a 14' x 10' concrete pad intended to support a pergola in our backyard. Prior to the project, we clearly discussed the need for proper grading, ground preparation, and reinforcement so the pad would be structurally sound and suitable for the pergola installation. Unfortunately, the work that was performed fell far short of those expectations. First, the ground beneath the slab was not properly compacted or graded prior to pouring the concrete. This is basic preparation that any professional concrete contractor should perform. Without proper compaction, the soil can shift and settle, which compromises the stability of the slab. Second, the pad was not graded correctly for drainage or pergola installation, despite this being discussed beforehand. Third, the slab was poured without wire mesh reinforcement, which is standard practice to help prevent cracking and structural weakness over time. The issues didn't stop there. During the installation process, the crew damaged our sprinkler system, which caused water to leak underneath the slab. Because the soil underneath was never compacted, the water intrusion has caused erosion and cavitation under the concrete, leaving the slab unstable and unusable. The broken sprinkler line has also caused flooding in our yard, making the backyard inaccessible for our family and pets. Additionally, excess concrete from the job was dumped into our front landscaping, damaging the lawn and blocking access to the water shutoff valve for our home. This resulted in us receiving a notice from our HOA regarding the condition of the landscaping. After realizing the seriousness of the issues, we had two independent contractors come out to evaluate the work. Both professionals agreed that the installation was done incorrectly and that the slab will need to be completely removed and redone due to the lack of base preparation and the instability caused by erosion underneath. To make matters worse, communication and follow-up from the company have been disappointing. When problems of this magnitude occur, a reputable contractor should step up immediately to address the issue and make things right. Before hiring this company, I encourage potential customers to look carefully at other reviews online, as our experience appears to be consistent with several other complaints regarding workmanship and follow-up. This project has resulted in: * An unstable and unusable concrete slab * Damage to our irrigation system * Flooding in the yard * Damaged landscaping * HOA violations * The need for complete removal and replacement of the slab Hiring a contractor should bring peace of mind, not additional stress and unexpected repairs. I sincerely hope the company takes responsibility and works toward resolving these issues, but based on our experience so far, we expect this will end up in claims court. read more

Earlier this month, my husband and I were sourcing concrete options to finish the partially paved driveway at our home. 850 Concrete/owner Joe Rizzo visited our home for a free estimate. After reviewing all of the details (which are included in the attached invoice - 4,000 psi, wire mesh, 4 inch pour, etc.) we decided to proceed. In our opinion, the results are a disaster. The concrete is already cracking, still soft to the touch in areas, has exposed rocks, even roots are exposed, holds water in low spots, has a sandy rough dusty finish etc. The concrete will wear just by rubbing your shoe on it. We doubt it will last 6 months. We will have to remove/replace the concrete. 850 Concrete didn't deliver on the following items: - PSI/Quality: The concrete delivered was 3,000 psi even though the invoice clearly states 4,000 psi. When the concrete truck arrived, I tried to get a copy of the receipt from the concrete truck to confirm the concrete quality but Joe stepped between me and the truck, stating there was no physical receipt. I directly asked the truck driver, who immediately gave me a physical copy of the receipt which showed 3,000 psi. - Wire mesh: Before the concrete trucks arrived, I asked Joe about the wire mesh. He said they were not putting wire mesh down (clearly stated in the invoice). - Relief Joints: No relief joints were cut anywhere in the concrete (clearly stated in the invoice). - 4 inch Pour: The form was built using 2x4s which are only 3.5 inches. In some areas the concrete is less than 3.5 inches thick (clearly stated in the invoice). - The base was not compacted and the excess gravel from our previous driveway was not used as a base for the areas which were just dirt. On top of this Joe wasn't present during the majority of the work, specifically while pouring the concrete. He left the property when the first concrete truck arrived on-site and returned for approximately another 15 minutes before leaving again and avoided speaking to us. His team let the concrete harden almost completely before finishing resulting in copious amounts of water being added. In our opinion, the concrete crew lacked the correct equipment and experience to complete the work. Further, they removed the forms approximately 3HRS after concrete was poured and before even finishing the top of the concrete (breaking multiple edges in the process). We gave Joe multiple opportunities to make this right (asking him to order another truck with 4,000 psi or put in wire mesh and finally asking for a refund of our deposit). All requests were rejected. Joe returned the day after and would not refund our deposit. He did offer to remove/replace the concrete but when I reached out to confirm - that if we allow Joe to remove/replace, results would meet the specifications in the invoice, he never responded. We do not trust the removal/replacement end results will be anything different. So now, not only are we out the deposit but we have to pay someone to remove/replace.
