Car wouldn't start and had to call to be towed to dealership and used my auto club...this is second time I've had them dispatched to me in the 5 years I've had this auto club and both times they have called me to inform me of their time arrival and confirmation of location very shortly after placing call and they are very polite and informative on what is going on. I have and will continue recommending them to people. I work as a courier and have had to be towed plenty of times for work and have had rude drivers and 3 to 5 hr waits stranded before with other companies so I had a lot of comparisons and I would if I could only use I85 towing. Also, as a female I felt comfortable and didn't feel like I was being patronized either and I have in past with another company my work uses. read more

Went through progressive to get a tow. My insurance gave me an ETA and I waited that entire ETA to be told that 85 hadn't even dispatched a driver and it would be another 30 minutes. The lady on the phone was rude and not even apologetic. My insurance then told me they couldn't even reach out to them and they cancelled the road side assistance request. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

The whole experience, from putting in a request to the guy changing my tire, took less than 20 minutes. He called to verify my location, was fast, efficient. After waiting on side of road for 4 hours late at night 85 towing showed up after our roadside assistance had cancelled them. Mark Davis came by to check on us and helped us out. I had a flat tire on arriving at the hospital in Greenville this week. After finally connecting with AAA, I soon got a call from Mark Davis to verify the exact parking lot for my car. if I could, I'd give them negative stars do not ever use this tow company!!!!! I went through AAA, gave the SHOP name it was going to however my GPS provided me the old address .04 miles PAST the new location. Tow guy arrived to pick up the truck, gave him SPECIFIC instructions as to the SHOP it was going to and said I would go with in my car to show him where the SHOP was, only 1/2 mile from our home, he stated I didn't need fo do that and that he knew exactly what SHOP and where. He then decided to drive right past the shop and go to the incorrect address, when he arrived at the incorrect address, there was a big huge spray painted sign on the garage of the home that said "The Carb Shop has relocated" and provided the new correct address back up the road .04 miles, the shop that he passed on his way to get to the shop owners residence, shop owner happened to catch him and told him "no no no this is not the right address. The truck is going to my shop that you passed .04 miles up the road" to which the driver replied he didn't care and dropped it in the middle of the driveway of this man's home anyway and then told him he would have to pay $70 more if he wanted it brought to the shop .04 miles up the road. The shop owner was forced to pay the $70 then was told you have to pay in cash and we don't provide receipts so the shop owner provided a receipt, forcing the tow truck driver to sign. When I was informed of this, I contacted the tow truck company and spoke to Gary the manager who said he would get back to me after he spoke with higher ups and the driver and never contacted me again. a week later I contacted him again to which he then proceeded to tell me "well we dropped it at the address you provided. It doesn't matter that the address issue was being corrected before he dropped the car and it's not their problem that the map app was wrong on the address and the tow truck driver tried to call you, so we're not reimbursing you" I explain to him that I not only tipped his driver $20 but gave him exact instructions as to where the vehicle was to be brought and he not only ignored me and the shop owner but also never tried to call me to ask if there may be a mistake on the address. Gary them replied "not his problem and they won't be refunding me the additional $70 tow fee. I then stated that they should be ashamed that they are doing this to AAA customers especially for less than a mile total tow. His exact response to me "Go fuck yourself" then hung up in my face. Horrible customer service and scamming people for money knowing they are dropping the vehicle in the wrong place even after a $20 tip. I contacted AAA and they are going to hopefully deal with it but told them this company should never be contracted with them read more

Was so very happy with the service I received . The dispatcher went out of her way to help me I was stranded on North Pleasantburg with a dead battery . I was stranded in a very congested area and motorists were very rude. The dispatcher and the tow truck driver went out of their way to help me. Can't find our car! We use AAA and they used 85 towing. First they told us they'd be here at 5:30, then 6:00pm. They did not show up. Finally showed up at 7:15 and said they had the wrong truck and would need to get another one. They also said we would have to help them push the car into the street. It was in the driveway! I called AAA and cancelled because not only was 85 towing not being reliable, there was no apology for being very late and not staying in contact. We left for dinner and came home and the car was gone. We called the Car repair we'd asked AAA to tow the car to and the car was not there. We cannot find the car. We found the car. OURSELVES, 4 hours later. We called the place they were supposed to take it to and they were nice enough to go next door to another auto repair and found it there. read more

Confirmed with myself and representative from State Farm that my car had been picked up and was sitting in their secure lot for the night and would be towed to the repair shop the next morning. Car was never picked up and left at accident. After several attempts to have someone in charge explain, they refused to call back and would not answer my calls or representative from State Farm. It took 2 hours to get picked up by this towing company. When I called them, they sounded as if they had forgotten they were picking me up! I understand if you are busy, but if you tell someone you will be there in 30 minutes and you get delayed, maybe you should call them BEFORE it has been an hour and a half, and the customer has to call you! The gentleman who picked me up finally was very friendly. However, his driving was honestly scaring me. He was constantly looking down at his phone texting, and we kept drifting from one lane to the other, never signaling or checking his mirrors even once. I would not recommend this company for towing your vehicle, and if you have to use them, I would try to find another ride for yourself if possible. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Just like the other complaints they were called by State Farm to pick up car and take it to collision repair, but they never did. They never answered the phone when trying to get in touch. They lied to me and State Farm several times, finally I called them to find out what was going on and the owner told me it was my fault, cussed me out and hung up. It ended up costing State Farm and me $845 in storage fees because 85 Towing never did their job. My wife called a towing service and she was directed to 85 Towing. She explained that the car broke down at the vet and she and our dog needed a ride to the auto shop. Driver shows up with his girlfriend and states, "Oh, you needed a ride?" Worthless. Spoke with dispatcher and she said he shouldn't have done that...sorry about that.
