I consulted an aroborist, and after giving the tree some time he came to the conclusion that the tree was not able to be saved. I asked Arbor Lawn to remove the tree free of charge. I could've asked for them to replace it, but I didn't. They told me that the company had changed ownership and all they could do was give me a discount. I accepted a 20% discount figuring it wasn't these people's fault as it happened under previous ownership, and this was likely the best offer I was going to get. Well, when they came out to remove the tree (that they killed, that I loved), the same guy that mortally wounded my tree in the first place shows up to do the job. My neighbor even recognized him. Despite having an entire open field to one direction of the tree for it to safely fall on, instead he sends the top of the tree falling the other direction damaging a newly planted red bud tree. I will never use or recommend Arbor Lawn. Their work crews are reckless. I honestly feel like I've been taken advantage of.

I'd done a lot of research into replacement windows -- what to ask when interviewing companies, what a quality installation looks like, which windows are the best quality. I'd been saving up for eight years for this because I wanted quality -- and it isn't always the name brands you know that are the best. I chose this company for these reasons: 1) Reputation. The company has been around since 1961 so they aren't going anywhere. 2) I researched the brand and type of window they install to verify quality and these were recommended by more than one person. 3) I asked about the install itself -- who measures, to what detail do they measure, type of caulk, how they insulate. And they never once treated me like "the clueless little woman." The rep respected that I did this due diligence and even gave me MORE information about their installation process, which I double checked, and yes, it is above and beyond. 4) The payment plan was simply unbeatable. 5) They gave me a DETAILED quote AND personal references. Other companies I spoke with did not. Communication was impeccable. It was a wait of a few months, but they kept in touch. Installation took only 3 days for 19 windows and 4 entry doors. These guys work FAST, without sacrificing attention to detail. When we had a mishap with one of my cats escaping the "safe space" they worked with me until I could corral him into another safe space. The crew chief, Chris Riley, is personable and managed the job well. The work site was left CLEAN. The full screens I asked for were installed later, and they're great. I had many windows that hadn't been opened for years because of being painted shut, nor had they been cleaned well. Now I can clean my own windows, the draftiness is gone and I am comfortable because that this company stands by its work. I am an anxious person. This was the biggest job I've ever had done where I didn't already know the person doing the work. They dealt with my anxiety beautifully and kindly. I have already recommended this company to others and will continue to do so.

My dealings with the administration side of things, on the other hand, left a sour taste in my mouth. They were slow to respond to my initial requests for a quote, and when we finally did connect they acted like I was born yesterday. Their quote was the highest out of all of the companies I had contacted, and I got the "let me talk to my boss" line more than once. I wound up going with them anyway because they were willing to match the lowest offer from another company. When it came time to do the painting they sent one guy. He did good work, but it was really a two man job and he was out there all day. I suspect they just didn't want to pay for a second worker. There was also a miscommunication regarding the back side of the deck stairs, which wouldn't normally be stained but I still wanted done for anesthetic reasons. They tried to sell me on the idea of taking the entire stairway apart to do this. I had to insist that they only do the painting, and they eventually did, but the red flag here should be obvious: More work means more money.

This experience was unexpected, especially since I had previously used Miguel's services to install…read moreseveral cameras, and that transaction went very smoothly. Approximately one year later, I contacted the company to have the cameras reset, as I did not have a ladder tall enough to reach them, and to install an under-cabinet ducted vent hood. The microwave previously installed in that location had already been removed, the duct opening was prepared for the vent hood installation, a 120V receptacle was already in place, and no electrical work was required. All of this was explained before the job was accepted, and I confirmed the quoted cost for both services on two separate occasions. Unfortunately, there were several instances where Miguel did not arrive for scheduled appointments and failed to notify me that he would not be coming. This continued for approximately a week and a half until he unexpectedly arrived one day. He successfully reset the cameras; however, when it came time to install the vent hood, he stated, "The office quoted me the wrong price, and I charge $250 per hour because I am a technician." He also mentioned that his teenage daughter had accompanied him. I had not hired or agreed to pay for an additional person to assist with the work. Miguel then refused to complete the installation at the quoted price and requested an additional amount equal to 100% increase of the original quote, effectively doubling the cost. I declined and paid only for the camera reset service that had been completed. I am disappointed by the lack of professionalism and poor communication. Had there been unforeseen issues or additional work required, I would have understood. However, that was not the case here. If there was a pricing discrepancy, it should have been communicated before the appointment, giving me the opportunity to decide whether to proceed. Increasing the price on the day of service, without justification, is not a professional business practice. Based on my experience and some of the other reviews I have read, this appears to be a recurring issue. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this company.

JC was the first to respond to my request and once I met him, we knew we didn't need to look any further. He came to the house, inspected the property, talked to us about what we were looking for, took some measurements and within 24 hours, we had a quote. While he was here, we mentioned that we would eventually like to add a deck to the front of the house and we were thrilled to learn that his company does decks also. I'm not sure there is much they can't do. JC and Karen (the office liaison) were very responsive, very patient and very understanding. The fence was easy to decide and most of the details were ironed out with the first conversation. The only thing we weren't sure of was the number and size of gates. JC talked us through the decisions and the night before they arrived, we finally made up our minds. JC and his team of 6 (Fidel & Juan had deck duty; JC, Alex, Samuel and Jorge had fence duty) showed up promptly that morning and by the end of the first day, the holes were dug and supports were placed for everything. They worked sun up to sun down for two days and finished everything the second day just as the rain began to fall. The finished products are so much more than we ever dreamed. The quality is outstanding. The team was aincredible; professional, friendly and dedicated to doing an amazing job. We could not ask for better. We will have them back here to stain all the wood for us, to power wash the house, to add a roof tot he deck and potentially place latticework around the deck. Give them a call.
