"TOO MANY RED FLAGS
This is not a review of work performed by 805 Sheds but rather a review of the business approach and practice that caused us to decide not to hire 805 Sheds. Since this business appears to be fairly new and there are not many reviews yet, we felt this feedback to be good for folks to know.
On Feb. 6, 2021, I looked at 805 Sheds website and then called (from my (818) area code). Peter C. answered his phone while on a job and we discussed that I would email him dimensions and a photo, and that he would get back to me with an estimate and details.
Peter responded the next day to my email with a quote of $3,500.00 and included some details. I responded back that we were happy with that quote and that we had a few questions. I also called him, but he did not answer. I left a message.
The next day Peter responded to my email writing ;
"Mrs. Croy,
I will type up a formal estimate/contract tomorrow for your review. What is your address?
Here are a couple pictures. The first is with smartside siding and pvc trim. The second is with smartside siding and truwood trim."
I responded with our address and a reminder that we had a few questions. I asked if he would give me a call, or did he want to stop by ( to see and measure the work area). I also called him and left another message. This was on Feb. 11. 2021.
On Feb. 13, 2021 Peter C. responded to my email with:
"Unfortunately Reseda is a bit far for us. We are in Ojai and our territory is generally Santa Barbara to Thousand Oaks area. We have done jobs in LA and the Valley, but I would need to charge and additional $350 for travel time and fuel. I'm sorry to report that. If you are still interested, you can give me a call with the additional questions you had. 805-895-9740. Thank you.".
So Peter C. strung us along for a week, never returning phone calls, when he could have easily asked me where the job was located in our first phone conversation. Honestly, if he would have been up front about charging extra to travel out of his area ( he should list his area of doing business on his website) I would have been okay with it. But doing it this way feels like Bait and Switch.
Being that his business is new and has few recommendations this manner of behavior made us worry about how Peter C. would conduct his work and how he would follow up if there were any concerns when completed. I mean if he didn't want to take the time to return our call or come out to take proper measurements, what could we be stuck with if there were problems later with his work? read more
