Maybe, I'd find it appealing if a coffee shop had an open mic night for poetry and prose, sort of how the Beatniks did it in the late 50s to 60s, but that's just me.

The beans were ground fresh for me. I love French Vanilla coffee, but it's not my wife's favorite. So it was nice to be able to get a cup and enjoy it. I also ordered biscuits and gravy and a glass of milk, which were very tasty. I brought my wife home a cinnamon roll which she enjoyed. She said it was good. The front of the house is pretty bustling and lively. At the back of the restaurant, there's a quieter room and outdoor dining on the patio. I will definitely be returning to this location. That pic was taken before she took a single sip (yes, I know the straw I used to show the amount looks used; I did use it to search for a tea bag in my tea fog. See below!). My cinnamon/butterscotch tea fog was, to put it politely, unimpressive. I left it steeping at least 15 minutes because it was way too hot to drink. And then I had to get a straw to search for tea bags, because it tasted like hot foamy water and I was convinced they'd forgotten to put the tea bags in. Well, they hadn't. There was one tea bag. My standard of comparison is Gusto over by Longview, which makes the best tea fogs in town. They use two tea bags and it tastes like heaven. Whatever they served me at Whistle Stop tasted like perfumed water. So overall, I give it a 3/5. Points for location and decor and nice chairs. But the main attraction should be the drinks, and they were both kinda terrible. And there's just no excuse for serving someone 2/3 of a cup when we're paying $6 for a small drink.

Although milk tea is not on the menu per se, it is available. So milk tea with boba. Cool beans! The server brings out this big cup of milk tea with the perfect ratio of tea to boba. Boba was a little soft for me, but it was still good. Spring roll time! I decided to get shrimp as the meat choice for the vermicelli rolls, and boy, they don't skimp on the shrimp! Hearty shrimps in the vermicelli spring rolls. A word of caution, pour the peanut sauce onto the spring roll. Do not try to dip because the shrimps are big and heavy and have a tendency to want to fall out. The rice paper is freshly made, the veggies are fresh, no old edges to the lettuce, noodles taste good. Hubby says the shrimps are high quality too. Peanut sauce has fresh crushed peanuts on top. Yum!! Also their menu item named spring roll is a tofu version of their vermicelli rolls. Combo Pho time! Just as an FYI, where I am from, combination pho means a combination of different beef meats to include tendon, tripe, beef balls, and steak. This combo pho has chicken, shrimp, beef balls, and steak. I am not complaining though. For me the essence of pho is in its broth, so gimme some good broth and all is forgiven! A lot of pho shops mess up so they have either too much MSG that I am dying of thirst by the end of my meal, or too watery, or too rich of a broth where they boiled off too much of the water and you end up thirsty. These guys got it right! Good amount of saltiness, good beef flavor, and I'm happy to say that one would not need to add anything to the soup because the broth is tasty by itself. Service was good. I love that they have tap to pay. The open until 9 pm is awesome, especially since I am from a different time zone and I haven't acclimated yet. Room for improvement?
