Not as much variety as the one near the KFC in the Northern road. Has an ATM machine. Small variety of Chips. Plenty of Magazines available. Easiest to access when heading east on the highway. Stocks Krispy Kreme. read more

However, they are pretty efficient. Open 24/7 and one of the few places in the area that doesn't run out of ice over the christmas long weekends!

Cafe Aurora is a cosy little cafe that never gets too busy. Located on the Great Western Highway,…read moreit's nestled between a pharmacy and a butcher, and it couldn't be more charming. The staff are always smiling, even if you just happen to catch their eye when you walk past, and they're even friendlier if you actually sit down! Not much can be said about the food, it's just about average. The coffee is fine, the sausage rolls are fine, the toast is fine.. it's all fine. The reason I go is because I like the atmosphere, and I like the service.

Open 24 hours and right across the road from Narwee train station…read more Their prices are comparable to any 7-Eleven. The most popular items here include their fresh Krispy Kreme doughnuts, pies, muffins and fresh fruit. Their yogurts also sell well, and so do their hot dogs - of which you just simply heat up in the microwave if you can't be bothered cooking. Also love the heatable chicken satay roll, again when I am too tired to cook. Otherwise your chocolate and ice creams are here. They always run out of the Maltesers Malt easter Bunnies. $1.80 a pop does seem steep, yet that is the cost of convenience. The cheapest price to pay for this treat is in Riverwood, a mere 30 minutes walk away, or 3 minutes on the train. Speedy service and no doubt Narwee's most popular take away as it is always open.
This is my favourite 7-Eleven for being the quickest in and out. When I'm rushing to work i know i…read morecan be in and out of this place in a minute or 2 :). There's always someone on the counter and they're always chirpy no matter what time of the day. Fair few taxi's go here throughout the day but more in the early mornings but not to many to be to much lol. Also it's always stocked with lots of variety of each product :), might sound weird but some 7-elevens have a couple flavours of protein shakes or couple cereals when this 7-eleven has all or almost the variety of each product :D!
Rayes is one of the few remaining mixed businesses, or 'corner shops', in Concord. And the fact…read morethat it's actually on a corner makes it all the more charming. An old-fashioned Slushy machine adorns the entrance, and dozens of Zip Lock bags, filled with milk bottles, sour worms, lips, ears and peppermint leaves line the counter. Pop Rocks and the individually wrapped watermelon bubblegum (that looses its flavour after 12 seconds) are two of my favourites. Rayes also stocks an impressive range of rare Wonka candy. But you might want to check the use-by dates. Or better yet, determine the confectionary's age by the amount of dust resting on the packaging. On a recent visit to Rayes, I picked up a packet of Sour Skittles that had obviously melted and fused together. It was just one big, bulging skittle. Despite the questionable freshness of much of Rayes products, I will continue to support this local 'corner shop' for as long as the Slushy machine stands.

The main ingredient in your dish! Beans a la beans! They're not the cheapest and, like any coronership, they don't carry a large range/ But with that said, they are convenient, they sell Ice Creams, Newspapers and other price regulated items and in the world of corner shops, they are supreme. But most of all, they are full of character and the people that work and live there are part of the community, they're not the faceless companies that, while cheap, expose you to horrific fluorescent lighting as you wander their expansive aisles full of mathematical puzzles such as the timeless, 'If a 250 gram jar of beans is $2.20 and a 300 gram jar of another brand is $2.50, which one is the better value?" So corner stores, for reasons of convenience, community and maths eradication, you are a valuable asset to any neighbourhood, and the Friendly Service Centre (Painted on a sign above the door) on North Street and Allen is no different. A friendly greeting when you enter, a smile when you leave and a cheerful wave when you're just passing by.

Banana Joe's was first opened as a fruit & veg market by Joe himself back in 1984, and has since expanded to include a great deli section and butcher. They have a huuuge cheese selection for a local supermarket, plus plenty of olives and a great range of organic products - ahh, Marrickville I love you. They also have some of the best Turkish delight I've ever tasted. Available in almond, vanilla and rose, it'll set you back just a few dollars for a plate and is great to take along to dinner parties. (Look near the dried fruit and nut section in the fresh fruit department.) The Banana Joe's website has a great tabouli recipe too!
