I have the 7-11 app and sometimes it has good deals on it. I went there for the $0.99 medium iced coffee deal on app. I got confused by the new fancy coffee machines. I asked a staff member how to dispense the iced coffee as it was not clear. So there was no regular iced coffee. There were only 2 options -- French vanilla and mocha. Take note if you want unsweetened iced coffee. Not available here or at least when I asked for iced coffee, I was only shown these two choices. Unfortunately both were out and they did not have stock. I'm still puzzled why there is no black coffee for customers to add ice and cream/milk and sugar to make it an iced coffee. I don't go to 7-11 to get coffee so this is all new to me. The coffee machine I saw has fancy flavors like English toffee, peanut butter jelly and French vanilla. Anyway I decided to just get the tried and tested slurpee. It always hits the spot on hot days.

The store was clean, staff was friendly. We came across this store after walking from the downtown Costco to kill time before catching the train to the airport. I would come back to this location as the store was spacious and easy to maneuver in considering I had a child with me, a rolling suitcase and a back pack (previous 7-11 we were in was very narrow and difficult to navigate with no additional items with us).

I know, I know, you're thinking why on earth would one write a review for a 7-11. They're all the…read moresame and they're pretty ubiquitous. Am I right or am I right? Well, I'm here to tell you that they are NOT all the same! Like Starbucks and MacDonalds, these places are practically on every corner on earth, but their lay-outs and employees vary greatly from store to store, as does the condition of their facilities. This particular 7-11 is top-notch, as far as 7-11's go. I pass this store whenever I'm coming home from my night class in Surrey, as it's on 1st Avenue (I drive down 1st from the highway). So it's super convenient. Plus it has a parking lot! Seriously, you can't beat that! (This is a real rarity for most places around town), The other night as I was driving home I realized, crap, I'd have to go food shopping the next day as we were out of basics in our house (i.e., milk, eggs, etc. Of course, I didn't know about this until I went to get milk for my coffee. My kid never informs me when we're low on items, ARGH). Anyhow, I wasn't too keen on the idea of grocery shopping when I had a gazillion other things to do the next day, and then I noticed the 7-11 sign aglow, beckoning me like the Star of Jerusalem. And when I saw the parking lot right in front, it was definitely a sign from above! I liked how this place is open late at night. And how clean it was inside. And it was larger than most other 7-11's I've been to, too. But what truly makes it deserving of 5 stars is how nice and friendly the counter lady was. She showed me where everything was (I couldn't find the eggs and a few other items when I first looked around), and was just a genuinely helpful and lovely person. Sure, the prices here are a bit higher than those at the grocery store, but my brief stop here saved me an hour or so of grocery shopping the next day, so for me, it was time- and cost-effective. At the corner of 1st Avenue, and Nanaimo Street, this location is busy just because of the post office, but unlike others, not many young kids loiter around this one, probably due to the fact that there is nothing else around the area except a street with cars going 80 km/h or more! This one always has a good consistent solid mix of Slurpee's that are not watery. This one has a real small parking lot, so not many cars can fit, and you always see someone park up the walking lane beside the handicap spot.
