Denny's restaurants as those in the know will concur are pretty consistent wherever you go. We had a good time visiting this one. It may have been the fact that we had kids with us and we made it in and out without them screaming or making a mess, but they were other aspects that made it a good stop. Despite what someone else wrote we got so many coffee refills I had to start turning them down before I floated away out of my chair. Good coffee too. We ordered big breakfasts all around which were delicious and filling. I got a skillet and joked with our server that I could eat another one. I actually wasn't joking. The Denny's is part of a building that houses a gas station as well so to use the washroom you have to walk out the restaurant and down a very small hallway to what is an acceptable if not reasonably presented spot. Really friendly and knowledgable staff; considering we were asking about directions and road conditions while getting our coffees filled up. I don't know what other places and Brooks are like but this Denny's is worth it if you need somewhere to rest and fuel up.

Today wasn't the case as a full bar was in operation. The restaurant is cozy with nice colour with a friendly staff. No liquor today as I have to drive. I started the meal with a tossed salad. This starter salad was probably the best I've ever had. Very colorful and with real green lettuce and multicoloured tomatoes etc. with a good house dressing. I ordered the short ribs. Without getting into too much negativity, the meal lacked texture. It was like eating porridge. Will not order short ribs again. I've had breakfast at other Ricky's before and they're excellent. We slid into a pole while going through the drive through at the Brooks McDonalds there was an…read moreexcessive build up of ice there that we didn't notice so when we drove forward after paying for our food our truck slipped and hit a pole.We have been asking for their help to pay for the damages but they are trying to get us to raise our insurance premium and deductibles by using our vehicle insurance instead of taking responsibility for having an unsafe environment. The manager of that store will not help us pay for our damages and she doesn't seem to care about running a customer safe environment.I have also tried to contact McDonalds HR but they will not help or take any responsibility for having an unsafe environment. You get the same person every time you call who has a file of canned answers...say hi to Ian if you try calling there! I've talked to Ian 3 times since this happened in March. I have seen Tim Hortons employees chipping excessive ice in their drive through so I think the McDonalds should do the same.
