We can't say enough great things about 555 Photography. We had a very out of the box carnival themed wedding at the San Mateo County History Museum and both Hui and Wen were able to work with us to come up with creative and gorgeous photo opportunities throughout the day. We even had our engagement shoot at the San Mateo County Fair and Hui captured amazing action shots of us on different rides and food stands. They also visited the wedding venue on their own to experiment with camera angles/lighting options, so that they were more than ready on the big day. Above all, we love how passionate and organized they were with every little detail. We were given a multi-page worksheet to fill out that helped them keep (and us) track of each moment we wanted to capture (from different group photos to first dances to small objects at the wedding). They were very friendly and courteous with our guests. They were even able to speak Mandarin to our guests who had difficulty understanding English. I found 555 Photography at a Bridal Show with my mom about 2 years ago (we had a long engagement). Hui and David were really friendly so we put my name down to win a free Engagement Session, and we won! David, Hui and Wen met us at Stinson Beach and spent over an hour with us taking many different kinds of shots in lots of different places incorporating different angles, classic and artsy and capturing some really awesome moments. We got the photos before they told us we should expect them, which was amazing! They were on the ball and had a really quick turn around. We decided to go with 555 Photography after the we saw how professional they were and after falling in love with the end product. They are easy to work with and were very accommodating. About a week before the wedding day, I got an email with photos from the Church and the Reception site. They went to check out both locations to figure out where to get the best pictures with the best backdrop. We thought that that was very professional that they took the extra time to make sure we would be satisfied. On the wedding day, they split up: David went with the Groom and his Groomsmen and Hui and Wen stayed with me and my Bridesmaids. They were able to capture some great shots. They stayed out of the way and were still able to capture amazing pictures!! We got 2 teaser pictures the day after the wedding, talk about incredible turn around and then less than 2 weeks later we got 20 more teaser pictures. They are fast and efficient. Something that I really appreciated! They were very on top of everything and very professional. We plan to use them again in the future for our other photography needs! I asked Hui to photograph me while I was pregnant with my son, Cash Ryder. I wanted shots that were creative, soft and something I could hang on my wall proudly so I could always remember how awesome my pregnancy was when I looked at my photos. Both Hui and Wen were very professional, flexible and creative. My photos turned out beautifully!!! Shortly after my son was born, I asked 555 Photography to come back and photograph Cash before he goes through his "infant acne" stage. I feel soooo lucky that we found Hui and Wen. They did a wonderful job at our wedding!!! Hui made time to meet with us before the shoot to learn about what we wanted, and then he and Wen went to our location before the day so that they could scout out interesting, beautiful and different places to take pictures. We used 555 for some photos of our 10 month old son, as the first "Family photo" shoot we've done. We were having a hard time getting the photos done because we don't really like the traditional family photo setting you get from most photographers - you know, the loving poses in front of the lake with swans, or the grey background in awkwardly matching sweaters... not really us. Fortunately Hui delivered with plenty of unique, creative shots that were artistically beautiful, and yet still something that shows us and the dynamics of our family. Hui, Wen, and Heather are incredible photographers. From the first meeting with them until the very end, the surpassed our expectations. They are very organized and very professional. They had comprehensive materials available at our first meeting and their follow through was fabulous. They were able to help us plan out all of the photographs and get everyone together when we needed and make sure all of the photos were taken. We had a great time with them too! They were very responsive the craziness of the wedding party and all of the guests and everyone had a great time during all of the photos. We wanted to go for a short vacation in San Francisco and do an engagement photoshoot there, the problem was we didn't know anybody. We found Hui and Wen through their website and were impressed by their portfolio of creative, stunning and beautiful photos. As we are not locals, a lot of planning was done through E-mail correspondence prior to the trip. Hui was very helpful and patient in putting together a realistic set of locations for us within a timeframe that works with us. He also made sure that we knew how to get there and how to meet up. As soon as we started our session, we knew that we picked the right people. Hui's style is exactly as his portfolio shows - he is an inventive and creative visual artist, constantly experimenting with new and innovative angles, locations, light placements and effects. But he is also a very considerate person, and always made sure that we are comfortable with his suggestions and the pace of things. Meanwhile, Wen has also been a super "sidekick" for Hui, always helpful with the lighting, belongings and being a great company. This is an awesome team! As a young couple, we can't ask for a better experience. After the photoshoot session, Hui was extremely professional and promptly followed up with sample photographs and final package. We received our first set of samples even before our one-week vacation ended, and the quality of the shots was out of this world! The timeliness and professionalism of Hui and Wen's has been the most impressive, and is a bonus on top of our very beautiful engagement photos. Hui and Wen were our engagement and wedding photographers. My husband and I are not what you would call - comfortable in front of a camera. But we had such a great time at our engagement shoot - Hui and Wen got us right away - and even suggested we include some running photos because we like to run together. Their photos made our wedding look so much funner than it probably was :) This is important for those who have traditional weddings in religious buildings like MANY Catholic churches: Remember to hire a photographer with low-light camera equipment because many churches do not allow flash photography. (Tip: When reviewing photographer portfolios, ask to see indoor pictures. Oftentimes they are not as vibrant and high quality as the outdoor photos.) We were sold when we found out that 555 Photography does have state of the art low-light camera equipment. We have to admit we were very nervous how our church photos would turn out without flash - but they came out great! (2) Excellent, Professional Service. I first met David and Hui at the Claremont Hotel Bridal Faire. 555 Photography is the preferred vendor of the DoubleTree Berkeley Marina, the venue I had booked for my wedding, so I was introduced to them by DoubleTree's wedding coordinator. They were really fun and personable, so I thought I would talk with them anyway (even though I am not typically one who buys into "preferred vendors"). When we met for our consultation, my now husband and I immediately clicked with David and Hui. They're young, they are fun, willing to try creative things but also respectful of your preferences. They are not pushy like some wedding photographers I've met during my multiple bridesmaid stints who make you do crazy crap that makes you look totally unphotogenic just to capture the shot they want. We have been to weddings where the strict officiant has yelled at photographers for being "distractions" and "not respecting the sacredness of the ceremony." While our church had many rules, David and Hui were very respectful of our priest and venue, yet were still able to capture all the moments we wanted. (3) No stress, drama-free experience. David and Hui have been amazing all throughout our wedding planning process, to the day of, and after the wedding. They were always available and accessible for advice - whether it was for vendor recommendations, or suggestions on what to wear for our engagement shoot. David and Hui go above and beyond and do their due diligence. We originally wanted to have engagement photos at the Palace of Fine Arts. David checked out the venue a few weekends before our appointment to scope out the venue - to find out that it was being renovated! This really saved us a lot of stress and gave us sufficient time to select another venue. They also scoped out our church in advance and contacted the priest to understand the rules and requirements of the ceremony venue. WE ENJOYED WORKING WITH DAVID AND HUI so much that during my husband's thank-you speech at the wedding, he thanked the vendors referring to 555Photography...even before thanking our family and friends! We have worked with several photographers, but Hui and his photographers were amazing. We did baby/family portraits and were so pleased with their patience and ability to make the babies feel so comfortable. Especially at an age where babies can be very shy and attached to their parents. The turn around on photo edits were amazing and the final products were stunning. I, myself, hate taking pictures, but somehow they all came out looking great. If you like a modern, unique, clean, simplistic style these guys are definitely the ones! David and Hui did a photoshoot with my husband and I in our wedding attire after our wedding. We found that there was too much going on at the wedding to get the shots we really wanted of just the two of us. David and Hui came to our house, so we were able to do some shots in regular clothes and then do another set of shots in our wedding clothes. We also went to a local park. They did a really excellent job throughout. The pictures have really great effects and are very strong from a technical standpoint. They also did a great job putting us in poses we wouldn't have thought of ourselves. At the time we felt a little campy, but the pictures turned out so good, it was worth feeling mildly embarrassed in the moment. For those of us who aren't models, it helps to have photographers who know what they are doing and make you look great. David and Hui have a humble and gentle approach that puts you at ease. Their wives are also hugely helpful in making everything comfortable and relaxed. The best part of working with them is the book they made for us. I typically am displeased by photos of myself and have been looking to replace my decade old online pics for quite a while. He has a great eye and wonderful suggestions for different poses. My husband and I are extremely pleased with 555 Photography's services and result. We had our engagement photo shoots with 555. The photographers: David, Hui, and Christen are very professional and easy-going. Before the shooting, my husband was a bit anxious because this was gonna be the first time that he had such a "formal" photo shooting. Yet the photographers made us felt at ease and my husband was relieved and had fun during the whole process. We had many discussions and saw various sample photos before the shooting. David was very patiently explaining the effects and possible outcomes of shooting in different locations. We eventually chose Sausalito and Berkeley, and hoping to finish everything by 2.5 hours. Unfortunately the shooting date happen to be Columbus Day and the traffic was blocked everywhere near Sausalito, and thus all of us couldn't get to Sausalito on time. Hui suggested another SF local place for great view of Golden Gate Bridge and Sunset. The location was not in our original plan but the photos came out perfect! We were really happy about the result, but still wanted some shots in Berkeley since it was my school with lots of memories. David offered adding another day to finish the Berkeley part - at no additional charge. The total hours remain 2.5 but we spread them into two weekends. We were really grateful for this offer. Hui and Wen are amaaaaaazing. I do NOT like getting my picture taken. At all. I always look really awkward. And we needed pictures for our engagement shoot. So that's when 555 Photography came in... To start off with, they are very professional and were super accommodating of our tight schedule. They were really efficient about responding to emails, sending us info on recommendations for clothes, locations, whatever. And then came picture time. These two made it SO FUN! They made us relax, joked around, gave us pointers on how to pose without making us feel self conscious. They even chased 3 additional locations for the GG bridge because the fog rolled in really fast and I had told Hui I really wanted pictures with the bridge. He finally got the pictures for the 84 seconds it was visible that morning! And instead of feeling like you've been posing for photos all morning, we felt like we spent a few hours hanging around SF with friends. And then had amazing pictures to show for it :) The quality of service continues after the pictures are taken.. They processed our pictures when they said they would (I think Hui even got sick for 80% of that schedule but still got them done) The pictures are great quality, creative, posed, candid, formal, informal... it's awesome. My wife and I had the pleasure to work Hui and Wen for our San Francisco wedding last year. Actually our two San Francisco weddings: City Hall and Wente Vineyards. Ok - so I am a photographer specializing in action sports and am very comfortable BEHIND the camera, but not in front of the camera. I think that only a handful of photos exist with me in the picture, and almost none where I am the only subject. When my kids were toddlers, I had professional photographs made, but from then on - I took them. When my eldest daughter went to college, I was feeling nostalgic and wanted our family to have photos together, including me. I have to say that Hui and Wen immediately made us feel comfortable, and it was an hour and a half of snap, snap, snap ! It was painless- actually pretty fun. My husband and I are NOT picture people. You will never see us squishing our faces together while he holds out his iphone to snap a photo of our faces in front of famous landmarks. I think we had 2 pictures of us together prior to our wedding. No lie. So the idea of having to hire a wedding photographer seemed more like an obligation than something exciting. I was referred to Hui & Wen though the coordinator at our wedding venue. I got in touch with them and met for a meeting. They were so easy going, straight forward and attentive to all of our questions. They are the furthest thing from being 'divas'...they truly listen to you and want to make sure that they are a good fit for what you need. She was 3 months old for the first shooting, and was 4 years old and extremely shy for the second.
