Pretty good into to a decent %age of merch here

There's a feature in Arizona named "Rawhide." It got rolled over by development near Scottsdale and was moved next to the Akimel O'odham's Wild Horse Pass Casino. It is a kind of movie set where one can imagine themself John Wayne, Yul Brynner, Audie Murphy, Roy Roger's, Dale Evans or Trigger. A friend of mine from England loved Rawhide, loved taking his family and doing the Rawhide thing. 50,000 Silver Dollars is not that. I learned on this journey that Montana, like Nevada, has legal gambling. 50,000 Silver Dollars has cast it's shining lure before the public since 1952, sixty three years after Montana entered The Union. It is a Bar, has a few slot machines, a restaurant and a quarter acre of souvenirs. It is a piece of Montana history. A waystop on the wayside of the first road across the northern Continental Divide built by Army Lieutenant John Mullan and his crew from 1859 to 1862. The road has been upgraded, from 1 wagon to two or more paved lanes wide. 50,000 Silver Dollars has been along for 45% of that history. If you like souvenirs, Montana souvenirs, Out West souvenirs, 21st century souvenirs, plus the kind of souvenirs Great Grandpa might have bought. As one famous Westering Man said, viewing the Salt Lake Valley. "This is the place."

5 stars for being a family fave for decades. I honestly can't count how many times I stopped here, traveling for vacations and heading east to family in the midwest. The kitchen is always a pretty safe bet, and the least you can expect is to be full and satisfied. It is diner food, after all. I think folks come here for the gift shop more than for the bar or restaurant. You could spend an hour looking around the trading post kitchy stuff lol. It's always a fun stop, and you will always spend a few bucks.

Multiple times stopping here and always a nice place to walk around and stretch out for a few. Rural Montana roads make this tourist trap an oasis. No pressure to buy anything and plenty of things to look at. We ate at the cafe this time and had fun with our server and the food was very good. Prices are reasonable and was clean. We even had a sundae from their ice cream bar. Two scoop sundae at $5.50 is a good price for the location ! Staff is nice. Lots of little things to look at and Montana gifts and such. Silver dollar are a nice draw and neat to look at BUT prices are pretty high for their coins. Gas station / motel / casino machines / bar / lots of large vehicle parking. So stop on by and see what you find!

It's one of those tourist traps.. but it's a really cool one and definitely worth a stop. They have an Inn, a restaurant, a huge gift shop, and the namesake Silver Dollar Bar. I'm guessing at one point they had 50,000 silver dollars displayed around the bar but when we were there they were up to 83,774. We walked around the gift shop and then stopped at the bar for a beer and a bit of history. The woman behind the bar was great, she was a bit older but still had a bunch of spunk. Apparently we sat right where the oldest silver dollar was and the first one that was put into the bar.. best seat in the house. We'd definitely return for the beer and history alone. Definitely make it a stop on your trip and grab a beer.. you can thank me later.

This place is a joke This is supposed to be a Philly cheesesteak. Basically two pieces of steak-umm on a piece of stale bread.

This place is a joke just a tourist trap for people on the highway. This is their version of a Philly cheesesteak two pieces of steak-umm on a stale bun with cold fry's.

No this isn't a 5-Star hotel, but for the price I would definitely say it's worth giving a 5-star review. When stuck in a snow storm we were able to easily get a room at a very low price. The rooms were very dated, but clean. For our fur baby we were even given a basket with items like a sheet for him, a towel to dry him off when coming in out of the snow, a waste bag, a bowl, and a few doggy treats. We were also given a voucher for 2 hot breakfasts at the restaurant next door associated with the inn. It included 1 egg, choice of meat and 1 pancake. In the building that houses the restaurant there is also a store and I think it said a casino. I even saw that there was an RV park out back, I believe you could stop in and set up for free. (but I suggest calling to double check just to be sure) Would stop for the night again when traveling through.

    Worth stopping to see

Definitely a great tourist trap/attraction. That said, most items in shop she China made trinkets. The cafe waitress was the highlight. She was friendly, hard working, and a definite asset to the cafe. Both our burgers were a bit dry/over cooked. Daughter loved the mac and cheese meal. We love silver coins, glad we stopped in. I don't think I'd go out of my way to travel here, are however staying two exits away made it okay.

Well... I've been wanting to go to this place forever. The place is located conveniently in the middle of Missoula and coeurdalane. It's a perfect place to grab some gas, stretch your legs and let the dog out. Let me start off by saying it's super cool looking. Ton of parking. They even have a shade area to park under if you have animals in the car. They also allow your dog to come into the store and restaurant. Just stopping to take a picture of the inside is worth it. Cool souvenirs and trinkets if you want to spend some money. With all that said. It's a cool Place to stop and grab a snack and visit, but save yourself $100 and 2 hours and skip The restaurant. Our waitress was kind, but lacked all common sense it takes to be a server. Was not helpful in food selection, and it took about 30 min just to bring our drinks and take our order. I have 4 small kids under 9 and were very hungry. We also brought our our heeler with us who sat under the table. I saw people come in after us, immediate order food and finished eating even before our food came out. It took over and hour between sitting and food coming to our table. We ordered, had zero utensils, no napkins and no refills. The food is extremely expensive and was not enjoyable at all. We ended up leaving most of the food and eating snacks after. That was after I dropped almost $100 on the lunch. Nachos - $14-15 Something that you would order at a snack all at a Highschool baseball game. Except you got more of it here. Nacho cheese with some flavorless hamburger meet sprinkled over the top with some other toppings. - at 1/4 of it and left the rest for them to throw away. Kids meals were 8.25 a piece and hardly came with any food at all. My kids are petit and small And we're still hungry. The club was pretty tasty. Just a generic club, nothing special. Did the job , nothing more. But after spending $18 on a sandwich, I was very disappointed. Ordered the onion rings as a side. Disgusting! It was a mushy, oily and terrible experience. Barf! Also ordered the fried cheese curds. $10. Not bad , but it was just a friend cheese curd. Way over priced for the dozen small tie bits that came with it. After we went acrossed the highway to the place that sold shakes and cherries. Now that place was worth the stop! Will definitely be stopping by here on my drive thru for some snacks , gas and to stretch my legs. But will never ever ever be eating here again.

This dam located just 5miles outside of Polson, MT is a hydroelectric power plant supplying up to 100,000 homes. Originally named after Frank Kerr, former president of the Montana Power Company. Acquired on September 5th, 2015 by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai tribal council. After the acquisition the council henceforth named the dam to reflect it's new ownership. This dam that is fed by the Flathead River and increases the size of Flathead Lake boast recreational uses and amazing views. Just like the river and lake it supports, the dams recreational area is dazzled by pristine clear water and gorgeous views. There are several viewing areas one of the most popular is the overlook but see if you can the others as those or the true treasures. The dam itself may not be accessable (or so I will need to try next time) but the viewing points definitely do it justice. Be forewarned though that the area still has wildlife that visit so keep an eye on the kiddos and do not stray from the path. Along with the warning of the wildlife the walkway is flanked on both sides by steep drops. This along with a swift current in the river makes you want to stay on the path. Beautiful land, gorgeous water, and views that will take your breath away make this a guaranteed visit for locals and visitors alike. Don't take my word for it, make the 353 steps (almost about 400 total walking steps) walk down to the overlook and enjoy. Just please be kind and pack out what you bring in. A Boy Scout tradition is to always leave a place cleaner than you find it.

I wanted to see the tourist sites before returning home and my friend, who lives in Missoula, took me here and it was a good experience. It was on the Monday after, in the afternoon, and it felt like everything was deserted. Only a few cars that were parked in random places. I had a feeling that this place closed shop early. While I know it's just a historic site and tourist attraction, there could have been a bit more of a crowd, but sadly there wasn't. Probably it was due to being on a Monday during work hours. It was nice seeing Fort Missoula in its beauty. How the Fort was back in the 1800's and how modern day barracks crop up around the property really reflected the changing landscape of the old and the new. I got a kick out of seeing the log cabin and the old locomotive that was sitting out there in the sunshine day after day. There wasn't much to see, since majority of the original fort has been removed and retrofitted with the modern day fixes and amenities. I'm not really sure if this is currently a real life functioning military base of some sort, but it's great to bear witness to some bit of history while visiting Missoula, Montana. I spent about 3 hours waking around and the museum was closed for the day. I guess I just missed them. I felt the history through my eyes and it helped clarify stuff that I never thought of while reading the history books until now. Worth an hour of your afternoon to explore and rediscover history. So just keep in mind that you are in for an adventure and everything should be viewed skeptically and with a healthy dose of rural Idaho grace. We came for the cave, and walked away shocked by the museum. Idaho's Mammoth Cave is located near Shoshone ID. You'll take H-75 and see two options to the left to get to the caves. The first left is a smaller, bumpier road, so I suggest waiting for the second turn. You'll pull into what looks like a bunch of dumpy outbuildings and a giant round hut. Turns out...it is a bunch of dumpy outbuildings and a giant round hut. There are tons of falling down structures and old farm equipment, dotted by giant rock heads and strutting peacocks. This place also stylizes itself as a bird sanctuary, but we only saw peacocks. A lot of peacocks. You'll go into the giant hut, which is the entrance to the cave and to the "museum". We were greeted by a kind young man who gave us his canned introduction of the place, handed us a lantern and pointed us to the cave. Unfortunately this place is not ADA compliant. The path down to the cave is a dirt path, pretty steeply sloped. The entrance to the cave has steps and the cave itself has very uneven walking paths and is rather narrow at a few points. You will immediately feel a temperature drop. The cave trail is only about 1/4 of a mile, but you lose the outside light quickly. Definitely keep your lantern on and don't turn it off on your unsuspecting partner who will shriek, hit you, and then wrestle the lantern away. :) The cave is cool, with some homespun signs with some (questionable) information. After exploring the cave, you'll return to the surface along the same path. Then you can explore the "museum". I put this in quotes, because it's more a freaky curated collection of things. There are three concentric circles that you will navigate to see SO. MANY. THINGS. Many of them fake, some of them probably pilfered, and all of them so dusty. You will see a lot of taxidermy. No doubt those things are legit. I have serious doubts about the dinosaur bones and ancient artifacts. There is no attempt to protect any of the artifacts and my historian's heart was screaming at the lack of order, proper dating and classification, and controlled containment. Regardless of the legitimate status of this place, it is a true Idaho experience. Owned by a private family, out in the middle of the high desert, with zero attempt to pander to the masses. This place screams Idaho and is absolutely worth a visit.
