Back in December of last year, I came to interview for a job in Van Wert, OH. I had little knowledge of the area, I was born and raised in Miami, FL and I have lived in its county my whole life. I was able to get to Van Wert in an Uber from Fort Wayne... but when I was looking to see the night before I left back to Miami if I could order an Uber to take me back to Fort Wayne Airport, I found out they didn't service the area! They will take you to Van Wert... but they won't pick you up from Van Wert. I started frantically trying to look up taxi companies and couldn't find any online or no one who would call me back. Thankfully the front desk person at the Holiday Inn told me there was a taxi company that came there once and dropped off business cards. I found the card and called. Hallelujah! They agreed to pick me up! It may have been slightly more expensive than an Uber, but it got me where I needed to go! I have since used it a few times as my family currently only owns one car and we need to buy a second. It's definitely become my way to get to Fort Wayne Airport. Being able to get a taxi company to come pick you up in Van Wert at 4:00 am especially is not easy! So I am thankful this taxi service does the job!

Didn't know if Uber would be a option at 5:00am in Fort Wayne. They were on time and the guy was nice. Although the cab was the nastiest car I have ever rode in and I'm now sitting at the airport smelling like a ashtray. I travel a lot for work and this was hands down the worst car ever. They aslo charge me a flat rate of $35 for a 20 minute ride when I could have got a Uber at the time for $16. Looking back I should have just cancelled upon seeing and smelling the car but didn't want to be rude. They couldn't even pay me $35 to ride in the car now. I'm embarrassed to even sit next to anyone at the airport and I feel sorry for whoever has to sit next to me on the plane. Also the receipt that was emailed to me showed up as gemgirl30@gmail.com and says nothing about a taxi service. Should be fun trying to get this expensed for work.

I will not however think I will be using nick again. He was very nice and professional but I would have liked more help and clarification on a few things. I was unsure of how to use a travel agent and maybe I just didn't have the right questions but getting on the cruise the my time dining to a new cruiser would have been nice to have been explained and set at a specific time. Because of this we ended up paying more and going to speciality dining often. While those places were outstanding, it could have been avoided. I would have liked more help with my flight as I ended up not feeling good about the price I ended up with, after the fact I was told I could have received more help on this. The Dekalb County Airport offers the youth, EAA Young Eagles Program. https://www.vaa37.org/young_eagles.php The EAA Young Eagles program was launched in 1992 to give interested young people, ages 8 - 17, an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation aircraft. These flights are offered free of charge and are made possible through the generosity of EAA member volunteers. Since 1992, more than 2.1 million Young Eagles have taken flight! VAA Chapter 37 hosts a number of Young Eagles rallies each year. If you are unable to attend a rally, a Young Eagles flight that fits your schedule can be arranged. Please contact Young Eagles Coordinator Laramie Resler at 260-402-3478 or youngeagles@vaa37.org if you have any questions regarding the Young Eagles program. Each Young Eagles flight covers pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight activities. Pre-flight: The pilot will explain what will happen during the flight. This might include talking about the aircraft; reviewing an aeronautical chart; completing a preflight inspection of the aircraft and identifying the parts that control the aircraft. The pilot will then help you buckle your seat belt and will describe the interior of the aircraft, including the instrument panel. In-flight: Once in the air, you'll see the earth and sky in a new and exciting way. The flight will last between 15 and 20 minutes and you may even get to take the controls! Post-flight: Once back on the ground, there will be additional time for you to ask questions about the flight. Ask away! The pilot will be happy to tell you more about flying. Each Young Eagle will receive a certificate and a logbook signed by the pilot. In addition, the Young Eagle is eligible for a number of other free benefits such as a student membership to EAA, access to Sporty's Learn To Fly online flight training course and more!
