Even before the community-centered art collective known as Phoenix Project was resurrected as "406 Arts," the people involved were some of the most passionate you could find.
This art space, located at 406 Haskell Ave., provides an outlet for amateur and professional artists to hold events, create benefits, and serve local or national causes with no limitations on creativity or content.
In short, 406 Arts has the D.I.Y. attitude that made punk music an optimistic movement, and gives volunteer work a sense of individualistic directive.
On Sunday, March 11, 406 Arts is hosting an event called "American Dream" with exhibits of Occupy Dallas artwork. Eccentric performances will follow, and odd people will be at every turn.
I have never been to a 406 Arts event, but Phoenix Project shows never failed to inspire me. How can one shut out the loud spirit of independence as he watches a prolonged bassoon solo in a spacious concrete shed outside of Fair Park?
Join the artists and the musicians on March 11 to see the Occupy Movement's impact on the humanities.
