Lyall was great: we didn't feel rushed, he had some really cool history to share with us, was super helpful when we were faced with stairs (we had a double stroller with us -- he always helped us up and down stairs). Lyall was a super tour guide and the Central Park walking tour is enjoyable even for us natives. Very good price on top of that. A+ all around.

This, hands down, was worth the time and cost and we are so glad we did it. A tour was a much better idea than just roaming around. We saw many things we did not come across before! The bikes used on the tour were much easier to operate and the gears came in handy- the general city rentals are heavy and have no gears! There was no significant skill or athletic requirement so this tour would be perfect for all ages assuming you can ride a bike. I was thankful we were not required to wear helmets. The info was insightful and enjoyable; we learned a lot and there was a great balance of biking and then talking/walking. Lyall was full of great info including insight for cost of living around the park, local residents and he was also able to answer all our random questions! The only thing we missed (but had seen before) was the iconic fountain featured in the TV series Friends. We look forward to checking out other tours he/they may have or repeating the tour when we return with our children.

I had been to my grandparents' apartment but not to other important locations. I made a list and contacted Alexandra Maruri at Bronx Historical Tours for advice. She was able to propose a personally guided walking tour of the landmarks, sights and important family locations in the Bronx. The price was amazingly reasonable and so away we went. We walked for five hours, during which time I found that she grew up blocks from where my father had. She really knows the Bronx, its history, troubled times and the renewal ahead. I felt she provided me with information better than others might provide and something better - great memories. Highly recommended. Michael Guerin Upland, California

If you can, I suggest going on all three tours, because they all tie together without being repetitive. But each tour is a stand-alone experience and fascinating story. Each of the tours I went on had a different dynamic based on how many people were on the tour and the energy and knowledge level of the group. I would do all three tours a second and third time. Nerdy Thursday is fun too with great people. So, whether you're visiting from out of town, or a long-time New Yorker, the Black Gotham Experience will teach you something new and introduce you to a side of NYC you won't forget!

You want to see NYC skyline in daytime and at night! City Pass helped us when our friends got sick and had to rebook a tour at another time that weekend. They answer their call line, speak fluent English, and can't recommend NYC enough! Upon another return to the big apple, my husband and I will utilize this tool when we bring our kids! It was easy and worked well. We debated between the 3 or the 5 and are glad we settled with the three. This pass cut down on our expenses, and we went to the Guggenheim Museum for practically free on Saturday night which is "pay what you wish." ($1/person or more) There were several museums we weren't able to see, but we got into epic places and saw so much in NYC that we have no regrets from our well-planned 5day 4night excursion to the concrete jungle! Thank you, City Pass!

PLEASE AVOID THE BLACK ONYX GROUP TRAVEL AGENCY !!…read more I just got back from an almost two week trip to Ghana with this travel agency and I can honestly say it was a trip from HELL! From the very beginning it appeared that the 150 group trip was a massive undertaking for The Black Onyx Group. It would have been better if The Black Onyx Group would have declined our contract and not planned the trip. The owner, Lisa Laws, was extremely unbearable. She's rude, obnoxious and very disrespectful. I personally limited my interactions with her because I watched how she engaged with my colleagues and it was totally unacceptable. The worst part of this trip was the hotel accommodations. The Black Onyx Group assured us that they made a site visit to the hotels two weeks prior to our arrival. The Black Onyx Group placed a group of 150 elite professionals in a less than 2 star hotel in Africa; not once, but twice. We paid premium dollar for this trip of a lifetime to be placed in hotel rooms with blood and urine stains on the carpet, no hot water and filthy beddings. Not once did The Black Onyx Group take accountability. Lisa never acknowledged any wrongdoing. I had to stay up all night to escalate my complaint to hotel management to get a decent hotel room with basic essentials. I had three different rooms in one night because of these disgusting accommodations. Not once did anyone from The Black Onyx Group step in to assist. They were well aware of the issues with the hotel and did absolutely nothing. There's so much more that I could say, but I digress. PLEASE AVOID THE BLACK ONYX GROUP TRAVEL AGENCY !! Not worth the headache!

We have much respect for the Chassidic community. Everyone that we met was so warm and friendly. I was invited to wear tefillin at the main synagogue. I've never seen anyone do that at my temple, so I was unfamiliar with the practice. They were nice enough to let me use a set and they talked me through the blessings. I have since ordered my own set of tefillin from Israel and I am excited to use them. The falafel sandwich that I had for lunch was the best one I've ever had. My girlfriend said she hadn't had one that good since her Birthright Israel trip. The Chabad movement and the other Chassidic Jews are truly keeping Judaism alive, and I must tip my yarmulke to them. ;)

He "brings home" why some of the Jewish observances are so important. The tour gave so many of our observances MEANING. I learned so much!
