It's very hard to get ahold of someone in the office. Sometimes the driving instructor simply does not show up...and then there is no one to call to ask what happened. It is very difficult to schedule lessons because they simply don't have any availability. You have to pre-pay for lessons, but there aren't any slots to schedule. read more

The manager Connie is very organized and responsive. She would always follow up with questions and would be very helpful. But since she's the only person responsible for scheduling, sometimes it might take a little to reach out. Instructor Crystal is the best. Very professional, patient, and really helps you to become a better driver/feel confined on the road. Unlike other instructors, she never made me feel stupid, never raised her voice, and left great feedback for practicing afterward. Lessons with Justin and Bill were also fine, but as a very anxious learner, I preferred lessons with Crystal. read more

Getting connected to the lessons online was fine but that is where the positives stopped. For a parent who has never had a child go through drivers Ed and having it so much different these days I would have appreciated more information on steps to be completed and in what order. Even failing that being responsive when questions are asked wound have been appreciated as well. Found out after the driving hours were done that my daughter needed to complete 9 hours of instructor led driving, which could have been completed at any time. Which while annoying wouldn't have been too bad IF they had any availability for scheduling lessons. They are either super short staffed or only schedule 1 or 2 slots a day because we notice that when a new group of dates open up they are immediately booked. We have another child and will NOT be using this driving school for her!! read more

First let me say my son really enjoyed the behind the wheel instructors at 4 Lakes Driving School (Madison,WI). All of the instructors were friendly and knowledgeable. Now that I got the pleasantries out of the way I will be matter of fact about the head office's professionalism and communication. As of late I filled out the web form to ask a question and didn't hear back after a week. I said to myself no big deal I'm not in a huge hurry for the info but would like a response. I sent an email and didn't hear anything after a week and some change. I finally called and got a response within the day....which is unusual because usually a phone callback has taken as much as 3 days previously. For $600 (online knowledge class & 9 BTW classes with no observtion) I would expect better communication. Not only that, availability towards the end of summer was terrible. I picked this driving school because of the good reviews, referrals and because they had a West Side location. The fair majority of the classes we had to head to the East side due to lack of availability on the West side which was inconvenient during the work week. In a few years my daughter will be starting to drive as well. I am definitely going to check out another driving school in the future. I understand COVID19 has presented challenges for many businesses. However, there is NO excuse for not communicating properly with your customers. Nearly Impossible to get a hold of someone. Scheduling behind the wheel lessons was extraordinarily difficult with very, very long lead times and a very restrictive set of time slots from which to choose. They said they had more demand than available staff..... my response was to NOT take our money up front and then delay out the training by several months before telling us that there were serious delays. This was the entire relationship. Very unreliable. Told one thing one day, but it never held up. I would not work with them again. Complete lack of credibility. read more

This school took payment to teach my son in the "behind the wheel" one-on-one program. It was VERY expensive, and yet, they are not offering ANY classes. Between now (mid-May) and August there is ONE class available. How are we supposed to get 6 completed by the time he can go to the DMV to get his license in the Fall? They should not be taking payment if they can NOT offer a least one class a month. I am beyond disappointed. read more

Know what you get into, don't pay and don't commit until you get all the facts. I will not recommend this company to anyone. Their scheduling BHW system is suck and no flexibilities at whatsoever. After you paid, you are it, they just throw you into the ocean and you find your way out, I'm talking about self-scheduling BHW, you almost must be on their website every minute for the 4-6 months trying to find any open spot. Worst driving school experience ever!! We had to wait for 2 months to book driving lessons. They don't even call you back. They expect us to call them to schedule the lessons as if we have nothing else to do. I had to call them 6 times to get the lessons scheduled although we were already billed for the lessons. Our instructor was Karlen. He never showed up on time and ended each lesson on schedule. So, for hour and half class you actually end up with lessons of just over an hour. We enrolled for the 7 lessons package. On the day of the last lesson, he texted us just an hour before the lesson that he won't show up because he is sick. That evening he texted and asked my fiancee to take the driving lessons the next day after 6 pm. How do you ask a beginner to take driving lessons after it is dark? And guess what?! The school didn't know he didn't show up for the last lesson when we called them on the following Tuesday. It is insane. He didn't even teach my fiancee how to do a parallel park. I won't recommend this school to anyone even in my dreams. Wow! read more

Ask for Drew, he's the best!! As an adult learner, I learned how to drive within a few months (15 lessons or so at 2 hrs/lesson) due to Drew's great teaching skill. I passed my driving test the first time. He was patient and articulated my trouble areas. He's been working there for 3 years and has been driving since he was 14 or so. Since I don't have a car to practice on, I practiced with a friend a couple of times but the bulk of my learning/ driving was mainly from my lessons with Drew. Have a really great time driving with 4lakes! Before driving with 4lakes, I didn't have any driving experience. I took several lessons with Pierre and successfully passed the road test on my first time! He is a wonderful guy, very humorous and knows well how to teach. I came from a foreign country and the rules are very different from those in us. Pierre explains everything clearly and is very patient. Besides, I use their car to take the road test. They will pick you up and help do a little practice before the test. After passing the test, they will also wait for you at DMV and drive you home. Definitely recommend taking driving classes with 4lakes driving school! read more

I am 33 y.o. and i have never driven before. My husband tried to teach me but it didn`t work out. I was very frightened and couldn`t handled being mentoring from somebody beloved :) We hired 4 Lakes Driving School`s instuctor, Bob, and he helped me to get rid of my fear of driving, made me to drive on such busy city`s streets where I never thought I would be able to drive, he was patient, respectful and very nice to me, supporting in all ways, and after just 3 2-hours` lessons I passed my test and got the licence with just 2 point down! Bob was with me there at the day of test too. Very happy with Bob and my experience with him! Now I am driving without a fear, I found a job I wanted and feel so much freer! Thanks, Bob! read more

The lessons were fine-- we went over what would be on the test, etc. Each lesson was only an hour even though I paid for hour and a half lessons. The first lesson, we spent 30 minutes getting gas. The second, the instructor was 30 minutes late, yet we ended at the scheduled time. Considering each lesson costs $80 for an hour and half, this really is not okay. read more
