I've been to 3 Mangoes three times now - twice with a friend for lunch and once with a large group for a work dinner.
The first two times the food was good (though not great), the service was friendly (but not very attentive), and the restaurant itself was freezing cold (overly air conditioned in summer and offering only the bare minimum of heat in mid-December - my friend wore her winter coat the entire time we were eating!).
I was there today during lunch. The waitress greeted us warmly, brought us drinks and took our order - all good so far. However, after our apps arrived, she brought me the wrong main dish. I had to wait about 5 minutes for her to return from the kitchen to the restaurant in order to let her know. When she figured out her mistake, she apologized, picked up the dish... and then delivered it to the gentleman at the table beside us! That has got to be some sort of health code violation, doesn't it? I mean, what if I had been sick? What if I had picked at it before realizing it wasn't what I ordered? What if the other gentleman she served it to wasn't comfortable with getting food off of someone else's table?!
After that, it was all down hill. I heard the people at another table complain that their rice was cold when it was served to them, and then question whether they got the same rice just heated up or new rice when the waitress returned to their table. My friend's pork wonton was undercooked and pink in the middle and the sauce for her Dai Jug Woey tasted "off" (she'd had it before and enjoyed it). And, near the end of the meal, the waitress came to the table to clear dishes and condiments, and deliver "to go" containers. Unfortunately, my friend was still eating, so this made us feel like we were being rushed out the door. She also wasn't paying attention when she lifted dishes and I very nearly ended up with a lap full of lukewarm soup.
Overall, not a very pleasant experience. Some of the stuff I can see past, but delivering food that was on one table for more than a split second to another table and undercooked pork is not. I would not go back voluntarily. read more
