The 39 Grill is a friendly neighborhood bar and grill. The food and drinks are excellent and are both reasonably priced. There's plenty to do, shoot pool, play darts, keno, games and more. Its family friendly and the patrons are respectful to kids being in ear shot. Its smoke free, and it is enforced. The staff and owner (who is usually on premises) are friendly and attentive. If you get a chance to stop in for food, drinks or both, I recommend 39 Grill.

They had a full bar so we started off with a couple of drinks. The pork tenderloin was delicious it's a little thicker than what you normally expect you get more pork than you get breading which is good. The BLT actually comes with cheese so if you are lactose intolerant make sure you know. The star is The Onion rings you have to try The Onion rings delicious. We were there for lunch so just sandwiches. Definitely would go back and try other things.

    Pork tenderloin, no bun.

Second time here and very satisfied with the service period. The food was excellent as well as the price.

Always consistently great food and service! It's an interesting mix of restaurant and bar, but it's smoke free!

Wait Staff Nice. Food sucks and slots do not work right. We have a lake house here, will never come back!

We have a gluten free eater, they were out of the buns, which was fine, but then the server came back to the table to inform us the Owner ran to the store to get them so I (others who would order) could have a full meal. Talk about impressed and a true customer focus. Wow! My burger was scrumptious, tender, juicy (Not greasy) and the fish and chips were delicious (I was told). Another had the cajun chicken pasta, they were also highly satisfied with their choice of dinner. Thank you Chris for great service, friendly smile and a warm welcome. The ambiance was welcoming and clean. Thank you again for going out of your way for myself and family needs.

The waitress was the only good part about the meal because she was friendly and always had a smile. 4 adults and 1 children was $175 for a few "strips" of catfish and 6 shrimp on a single plate that was a full meal. I grew up in the Ozarks so I know catfish and I am sure if you put all three plates together it may have equaled one fillet. Oh, but it doesn't stop there, any table over 4 is 25% automatic tip. At least the waitress in this diner made $32. I would never recommend and never return!

The poutine was fabulous. The fry coating was crisp and tasty and the gravy was full of flavor. The Reuben sandwich is outstanding! The way they cut that corned beef was nothing short of magic. An egg on there? What? I've never heard of such a thing, but yes please. And I had the brûlée corn; which I may need to learn how to replicate because I've never seen this on any menu in Chicago, but it's too far to travel as often as I'll be thinking about that dish! The old fashions were smooth! Went with vanilla and loved the subtle flavors. Everyone was so nice and the atmosphere was a delightful mix of old school pub/English castle. All of it was just what I was hoping to find. Food off the beaten path that deserves a huge shout out. In a town of bland flavors, this place shines like a real gem!

Sat in a comfy table with a padded pew close to the bar with our backs to the wall, which instantly put my hyper vigilant husband at ease (IYKUK). Chatted a bit with our kind server who was also a millennial, how do I know this? The eye contact and lovely snarky conversation. My husband ordered his med rare, which probably came out more med and not enough pink for his liking. Correction on my part, I got the mahi mahi with parmesan grits and green beans and I didn't even need to look at my pictures to recall, it was that memorable of a meal. Being early January a parking spot nearby was an easy find, I imagine though finding one come spring will feel like a miracle. I'd love to stay at the attached hotel but found it's already booked a year out. Doesn't surprise me, the old English charm with its stone and dark wood is straight up story book.
