He was trained for several years in Italy before being allowed to call himself a "barber" and he's forgotten more about cutting men's hair than most U.S. - trained barbers, beauticians, stylists, etc. will ever know. He's very professional, friendly and extremely reasonably priced considering the quality and attention to detail he provides. I live and work in the downtown and near-north Chicago areas and travel all the way to Oak Lawn, where I grew up, to see Mike every five weeks. I constantly receive complements and inquires as to who cuts my hair from people paying three and four times more for downtown, near-north and Gold Coast "stylists." Would give him 10 stars if possible. Highly recommended.

I don't have to go to Supercuts anymore and sadly learn that the "stylist" who did a half decent job cutting my hair the last time got canned, ran off to Vegas to become a dancer, or got a higher paying job at Taco Bell. Joe's has been in this same storefront near 95th and Kedzie since 1957 or so, and it doesn't look like it's changed much. So the place is the totally old school, and that's a very good thing. You get all the colorful regulars that you'd expect to find at the barber shop. The place is always crowded, which is a testament to the quality of the haircuts and neighborhood barber shop experience it offers. True barber shops like this have become very rare in the modern hair styling world, and I'm glad I found one. Overall, a great place. Here's to it being around for another 50 years!

It is a very cool concept, really tailored for guys with the nice sitting area and the TV's at the stations. The biggest thing that will draw me back is the experience I had. My stylist, I believe her name was Lauren, was awesome. I am not an easy sell but she really seemed like she wanted to know why I was in there as opposed to my other place and trying to sell the experience to me. There is a shampoo with the cut which is nothing new but it seemed like she really took her time to do it right. My head tingled from the shampoo then she did one last look at her cut to make sure I liked it. When you get a haircut, it is supposed to make you feel clean and like a brand new man. I definitely had that feeling leaving and I was so amped up and feeling good I believe I may have gotten a red light ticket driving home! Best part about it is that they do free neck cleanups and for someone like me whose hair grows very fast, I need those! I will be getting my cuts from there as long as I am around here.
