It was great working with someone who had the technical prowess to execute on my vision. My main instruments are guitar and bass, but my favorite my music ranges from chill electronic and guitar-centric downtempo to epic soundscapes, melodic house and bass music too. I showed him a number of tracks I was pulling inspiration from and he was able to precisely emulate similar sounds and feels and helped me engineer and customize them to make them my own. His knowledge of sound engineering, plugins, music theory, the ability to play live instruments, and deep love for a diversity of music is what makes him an excellent producer and enables him to bring your ideas to life with premium sound quality. Additionally, I didn't really understand the importance of mixing and mastering. I had a few tracks I recorded myself, when I brought them to Steve he really helped bring out the most important elements and helped me understand the subtle to medium changes I could make to the structure, pauses, buildups to really bring out the emotion and drive I was trying to convey. The sessions I had with Steve over a few months gave me the tools to capture and progress my ideas and riffs, build upon them and helped my overall understanding of the songwriting and recording process. I still have a while before I finish my album but I still have sessions with him when I'm stuck or need guidance, and I'll definitely be returning to Steve to get them across the finish line and for mixing mastering.
