Good size store with tons of selection of Board Games, Puzzles, Records, Books, Funkos, Comics, and Cookbooks, ect.. but I will say a lot of them aren't too new or current. A lot of the books were older and the prizes were kinda high in my opinion for the ones I was looking at, but I completely understand the economy we are in and businesses need to stay open. The store itself is a little bit older and a little run down, but in okay condition. The store is large but a little outdated. Prices on older books are great ($4-$8) but newer books are still expensive. New releases , of which the selection is low, are almost the same as main stream bookstores. They carry new books, used books, records, games, funkos and mystery boxes. Fairly decent selection of new and used books. They have a buy-sell-trade program. He knout was quick and friendly personnel. Only reason for the 4 star was the no seating options. There wasn't anywhere to sit. The value was average for the new books and a great deal for the used books. read more

The greatest new and used bookstore I have seen to date in Louisiana. AMAZING. You see employees walking around, but you don't get harassed. Music, instruments, kids toys. Whole sections. Kids, fiction, nonfiction, movies, CDs, toys. This is really the best. I would like to spend hours in here. Plenty of parking in front. Masks are enforced, which is nice considering the area. I went to 2nd & Charles in Bossier City, La. - to sell some of my son's children's books and DVDs for a store credit to purchase some things in there. I was asked for ID, fingerprinting, and forms to fill out before the items were even taken. I was told that I was next and may have a short wait until she would text me with the total offer they would give me for the items. I waited over 2 hours walking around looking at everything in the store. When I asked her if she was finished, she said, "WELL NO.... I told you that you could come back". I told her that she said nothing of the sort, and I requested my bags and merchandise, purchased with my credit card the item my son picked out, and left. I then called Customer Service regarding this incident, and I feel VERY STRONGLY that my constitution rights were violated and possibly my identity could be used for theft or fraud. 2nd and Charles is fantastic for finding weird, obscure or nostalgic vinyl. I love digging through the art books. There's always something wonderful for a great price. This store is excellent! I was there browsing their enormous book selection for the first time ever, and found a beautiful Fender Telecaster guitar by surprise! I traded in a few things (which they were extremely fair on), got them to drop the list price of the guitar a bit, and walked out of there with that guitar in hand, plus the books I had originally been searching for as well. I was pleasantly surprised by 2nd & Charles and had a wonderful experience; I will be a frequenting customer in the future. Really, they are so knowledgeable about what they have in there; all you have to do is ask! I asked for the location of a pretty obscure, science related book, and was directed right to the section and shelf where it was waiting to be found. I know they have some questionable reviews on Yelp, but don't listen to them. Give this place a chance. And, if you are a musician, check out the instruments section, you may find a hidden Gem like I did! read more

Kind of a hot mess. Far too large to be so disorganized. The prices are a bit high, but if you feel like getting in a good sweat while shopping ,and being frustrated over poor alphabetical cataloging, then this is the place to come to. However, it is practically the only place around that will have new vinyl records, so for that it gets two stars. read more

So I drive the 15 miles (24 minutes) to the store, carry 2 heavy boxes of books into the store and the employee up front promptly informs me that they have stopped buying books. I ask the beta male why they literally just told me 24 minutes ago on the phone to bring my books up there, and he looks at me with his comicon beta male face and states that they stopped purchasing books 10 minutes ago. So I told the basement dweller that I would never be coming into the store again, and thanks for wasting my gas and time. Rant complete. read more

It's cool that they have a big vinyl selection, it's completely un-cool that all of the records are upside down and backwards though. Makes it frustrating and super annoying to look through them. After about 10 mins I left. You should organize better, it could be done in one or two shifts, easy. read more

We have been coming to this place since it opened. It used to be so great!! Lots of good books, we could browse forever. However, the air conditioner has been broken or not working well for months. My father in law even talked to corporate months ago and was told they are supposedly working on it, but it makes for an extremely unpleasant shopping experience. Every kid in there is whiny, parents are grouchy. I left with a headache from trying to read book titles in the stuffy heat. And it's not even that hot outside!! It has to be affecting their bottom line... such a shame bc it was such a favorite!! read more

This place is really great and is filled with all my needs..... I only rate them three stars due to the prices of some of the items. Overall very good and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has interest in antiques, or newer items that you usually can't find around Shreveport. I come here mostly for the video games and D&D items. The employees are very nice and helpful and can mostly help out with any items you are searching for. What a totally awesome place for books, games, movies, instruments, and toys. This place reminded me of a store in Texas called Hastings. As soon as we walk in like wow a collectors haven there is no doubt about it you will find something unique for yourself or that special someone. While it is one of my absolute favourite places to shop, it is kind of hard to find the things that I'm looking for. The music and movies are often out of order and require too much searching to find. There are not many employees on the floor who ask of customers need assistance, however the ones that do are very polite. Prices are also high, but the content is good enough to make up for it. The selection of books is outstanding and diverse, so it's perfect for splurging before vacations. It's also the perfect place to get collectables for multiple movies and tv shows. The atmosphere is calm and not too busy, so it's great for casual browsing. Overall, it could use some work, but I love it anyway. read more

So I went to the store on a Thursday and ordered a book for my son and paid the over night charge to next day my sons book and comes to find out it still takes several days before you get the book. The day of ordering was the 21st and the book wont be here till the 25th. False advertisement if you say next day and its not next day. Something needs to be done about this. I asked about a refund and they cant refund shipping even though I was lied too and we still don't have the book. I will never trust this company again. Wonder how much money they have made off people by telling them for 20.00 to 25.00 more you can have it next day.. Horrible service and horrible customer service. read more

I visited this store today to purchase a bible. When I walked into the store their were two employees present. One of the employees was helping another customer and the other was organizing books. Neither of them greeted me. After the customer walked away I approached the counter and neither them greeted me nor asked if I needed any help. As I patiently waited I finally said "Hello!!! I would like to purchase a new book." One of the employees replied. Ok we may have it , we may not it depends on what book it is. After telling her what type of book I needed, She the said we could order it. I sat there waiting on one of them to come over the counter to help and still neither of moved. Then I said well can someone help me with this? The employees with black hair and glasses sighed and then climbed out of her chair. I brought several nice books into sell to them. Some of the books were purchased for over $50 each and in great shape. They offered me $12 in store credit and $6 cash. I was so disgusted that they didn't offer more money. I guess they have to do that to mark everything up by 200% for resale. Not only did I not get much offered as far as money, they had me wait an hour to tell me I was getting back what I did. Very disappointing! read more

I generally like this store for my low priced movies, CDs, video games, collectables, and other forms of media. However, some of their items that had previous owners are questionable. The quality and conditions of their books, movies, toys, and CDs vary in standards. I have seen some toys with weird stains stuck to them or their original packaging. (Could range from some weird sauce to coffee WHO KNOWS?) I come in here a couple times a month though because their stock is constantly changing/cycling and I'm always looking for new additions for my game and/or book shelves. Not all of their stuff has been used though. They have a good slice of new things as well. However, if you are a HUGE STAR WARS fan, this is the definitely place for your collectables. read more

Have been spending money in this store since it opened over a year ago; went in to see what newly acquired books they purchased. Was told by assistant manager (female) that her workers cant stop what they are doing everytime you guys (customers) want something. One of the workers had informed me that the whole box of purchased books would be $1 but had not yet had the labels attached to the books. The assistant manager refused to let me pull the $1 books out of the box and attach $1 labels on the spot. 3 days later the box of purchased books remains behind the counter with no indication of when they will be available for purchase. Customer loyalty means nothing to this store :( read more

Just visited store to purchase a few books at a reasonable rate. The weather was horrible and so I asked for a bag to prevent my books from getting wet. The young college aged girl stated that bags were available for purchase and they were completely "green free". I asked her if the plastic bags they were selling, were green free as well and she proceeded to say yes and that paper is wrong to use because trees provide all the Earth's oxygen. A book store... complaining about trees being used for paper? Perhaps it's more about the money they are saving from not purchasing plastic bags for their customers??? I come in from time to time looking for records and my schoolteacher wife looks for used children's books for the classroom. Were she doing this review herself, she would give one star (actually less if she could) as she says the material is overpriced given the content and quality. I give two stars only because I usually have been able to find something when I go in, but it is ALWAYS a search. Records and artists are not consistently categorized correctly (or alphabetized for that matter), Nice selection of new 180 gram vinyl that you can find on Amazon at a cheaper price. The value section of albums (again a hodge- podge) whee you can buy 5 (under 5 bucks each only) and get five similar free usually looks like goodwill leftovers. I can't comment on their buy back polices, haven't taken anything in to sell. Now having said all that, the main complaint, as some others have noted is the (lack of) customer service. I have yet to have any of the employees on the floor ask me if I need any assistance (although I have seen them talking to each other and walking by customers) and when you ask the cashiers at checkout a question (Do you not carry 45's anymore? Uhhhh, I don't know I'm not sure, you might want to just go back and look some more, etc...) they don't seem to be interested in assisting. Bottom line: I buy a LOT of vinyl new and used so I will continue to come in occasionally. However, there are other places around here for music that do actually seem to appreciate your business more than these folks. read more
