We told them several times that our budget was $150, 000 and that we couldn't afford more. They agreed and made up the drawings for the place. After the drawings were done, they suddenly tell us that they now have to charge 30% more due to COVID -19 and the price of materials going up. This would have added another $45000 to the price of the house plus tax, so we were paying close to $200000 for the job which they promised would cost us $150,000. We had already gotten quotes from others in Waterloo who were willing to do the job for $200,000, but we declined. We couldn't afford it. We reported them to the Government Ministry in hopes that they would agree to mediation, but they wouldn't agree. We are now out $6000 for the drawings they made that are virtually useless because we can't afford the the extra 30% for the price. They wrote a long letter to the government falsely stating that they weren't charging an extra 30% but I have the email to prove it. I believe that in the end they really didn't want the job and artificially raised the price so that they could end the contract. Stay away from these guys. They are not trustworthy.
