Such a unique thrift store…read more The Exchange is located on Orcas Island. It's not far from the ferry drop off, and an easy pitstop when your driving towards East Sound. This warehouse is filled with two-stories of second-hand goodies from the island. You'll find a large selection of kitchen gear, board games, winter items, and lightly-used treasures. They've done a great job separating each of the spaces, making individualized rooms and isles to showcase different categories of goods. There's a large space upstairs for all their outdoor and sports gear. I even saw a number of skis, boots, poles, and jackets that instantly caught my attention! The team here is incredibly kind and will help you hunt through their many isles for the perfect find.

They are the most loving cats I have ever known and it was a pleasure working with cats cradle associates to get these rescues from a kill shelter. Now onto the thrift store, this place is a jackpot. Our vet had to chase medical records from the CCAR vet which were FINALLY transferred. Our cat came to us with a significant urinary tract infection. As well, he requires major dental surgery. It pains us that our cat may have suffered unduly for weeks, or even months, before we adopted him. It is VERY evident that appropriate medical attention was not provided while our cat was in the 'care' of CCAR. We will 'do right' by our new family member and ensure his health is restored. This is the first and last time we'll deal with this organization. Beware should you choose to adopt through CCAR.

I was under the impression that this organization follows through on commitments…read more I called to book a pickup and was originally told I was "out of the area" and probably wouldn't happen. I am in the same zip code!!! Finally talked to an "informed person" and got this scheduled. In the mean time another volunteer called to schedule (which was already done). Apparently lack of communication is a real problem amongst these volunteers. I worked very hard to make it simplier to take my items and don't appreciate the efforts I've made to be wasted, I don't have the luxury of free time, I need to move ASAP! On the day of the pick up (scheduled between 9-12), no one arrived. Then the call came it would be 1:30-2:00. That also didn't happen. Again, Dave called and cancelled completely too much stuff already in the store. Why didn't they notice that before agreeing to take my stuff in the first place. Unprofessional and rude to say the least! Suggestion: Don't accept assignments if you don't have the time or space to follow through. I rather doubt homeowners are calling and scheduling unless there is a real need for your services! Very disappointed in this organization and highly recommend if you need the services in a timely manner, best to look elsewhere.
