Sure enough, Mike arrived around 1pm and showed me how to see the number of cycles on the opener along with the date of manufacture on the garage door. He gave me a few options (just replace the springs, replace the rollers and springs, replace the rollers, springs and hinges, etc.) and let me choose without any pressure. He set to work (I chose the option to replace the springs, cables and rollers -- the door was 22 years old so the originals had all put in their time) and 3 hours later was finished! Talk about quick turnaround! Additionally, I asked him to replace the weather seal on the bottom of the door since a mouse had eaten away a section of it. He gave me a reasonable price to complete that work at the same time. I have no idea what the going rate is for this sort of repair. Torsion springs are not DIY-friendly so it's expected that this is a somewhat sizable expense.
