The most notable and definitive action that makes me like or dislike the church is during the homily. If the priest can't keep my attention, then it's not a good fit. The outside of the church is nice, but the thing I don't like about the interior has always been the tiled floors. It always felt like it didn't belong in a church. It reminds me of a school, more than it does a church. I am forever seeking out a church that feels like home to me. I have yet to find it.

The community is incredibly warm and welcoming, especially at the Men's Prayer Breakfast, which is a wonderful opportunity for fellowship, faith, and encouragement. Monsignor Todd, Father Pat, and Father Tommy consistently deliver powerful and meaningful homilies that really speak to the heart and help bring the Gospel into everyday life. You can tell they care deeply about their parish and guiding people closer to God. One of the most special parts of this church is the Adoration Chapel. Spending time there in the presence of Our Lord is truly amazing and peaceful. It's a place where you can step away from the noise of the world and simply pray and reflect. If you're looking for a parish that is faith-filled, welcoming, and spiritually uplifting, this is truly a beautiful place to worship. God bless this wonderful community.

We couldn't participate fully as the congregation sang this or that, or responded with this or that, but no instruction was given re where to look in the hymnal or wherever so that we COULD participate. Someone in the front row wasn't singing enough for this priest, and he - very loudly - pointed to her and announced that she was to be singing now!!!! Who DOES that to a grieving family member? Shameful behavior. There were other rudenesses which the family told us about later, and it just made the whole day that much harder on the entire family. Lovely sanctuary, but my goodness.....a church IS the people, and this man was not a good representative for Christ that day.

It was my first time here,…read moreand I always wanted to come to visit after seeing Bishop Don Shelby, Jr. (Senior Pastor) and his family on the reality tv show called Preachers of Detroit. I thought he was very genuine and I admired how he loves and spent time with his family. This is a nice church, and it wasn't as big as I though it was going to be. Which is great. I like smaller and medium size churches because usually its more personable and you don't get lost in the #'s. First of all we got here late, just at the end of worship (around 1030a) and as soon as we walked in we were greeted, and greeted again before going into the sanctuary. It was good being in the house of God w/ God's ppl. We came not to look for faults or to be a spectator, but a participator and for hearing and receiving a Word from God through the man of God. Bishop Shelby's message during this service was titled "In Between the Lines" which was a very simple but powerful message. It was timely and needed, and I thank god for his obedience to the Spirit of God. Being there, I sensed the presence of God, and the love they had for people. If I lived in the Detroit area I would definitely come back, and maybe even consider this house as a home church. I'm not saying this church is perfect, but it makes a difference when the Pastor has a heart after God.
