I only come here at 1.45pm (or 1.45 am), and one feels a lot safer, whereas the other feels a lot quieter, than the other.
This street crosses the Harlem River and it's a Swing Bridge. It's also known as the Lenox Avenue Bridge, a name which is no longer used, but it still is used colloquially by everyone I know in Spanish Harlem or The Bronx, because it does connect with Lenox in Manhattan.
It's often very busy with traffic, partly because it's one of the free ways (not freeways, but toll free ways) into Manhattan, and who doesn't want a free way into Manhattan! The alternative might be $15 or $8 or something!
There's no great views a the skyline or anything, but it's free so I have no issue with it. In fact I give it five stars for that reason, despite the really bad paving in parts of the bridge and the roads leading up to it. Free entry to Manhattan is always five stars for me. read more
