Tomato soup was excellent. All of the pasta dishes were fresh, hot, and delicious. My truffle pasta was very good. Creamy, hot, and the fresh truffles were excellent. Coworkers loved their spaghetti bolognese and carbonara. And of course, the beer was refreshing :-)

Pizza Margherita - good but they need to let it cook longer. Was very chewy and undercooked. And we asked for it crispy.

+ delicious pizza, noisy Eversince my pizza favorite in Berlin! I love to travel and as editor of a travel guide I try to eat out at as many different places as possible to discover new gems for my readers, but in this case I cannot resist! As soon I am arriving in Berlin I either reserve a table at Savignyplatz or Friedrichstrasse since I am addicted to their brick oven 12 Apostel Pizza coming with salmon, shrimps, and creme fraiche. Both places are cozy and can get loud since people are running into their doors daily except between 3 and 5 pm (time after lunch and before dinner). The pizzas are huge and I recommend sharing one by two and if even necessary a starter as well. The location at Savignyplatz is on the opposite of the S-Bahn arches along a small alley of shops and restaurants. During summer the pavilion is transformed into an outdoor patio covered by huge umbrellas. The second branch at Georgenstrasse is located in the S-Bahn arches of Friedrichstrasse close to Pergamon Museum. Both places accept cash or German debit cards only. No credit cards! Average entree: EUR 10-13. read more

Fazit: absolut empfehlenswert! read more

Reservieren ist sinnvoll!! read more

This may be one of the better Italian restaurants in Berlin but as someone who's lived in Florence and now lives in San Francisco, I would counsel to not raise your expectations. I started with one of my favorites, vitello tonnato (hardly a commonly found appetizer). It was good but not great. The lasagna was my main. This was disappointing. I ate about half before thinking, "what's the point of all these additional calories?" My dinner partner (from Los Angeles) felt about the same as I. Our bottle of Barbera (recommended by the waiter) was fine. Service was ok but a bit frantic. The place was packed. The motorcycle theme is charming. Cash only. The decor has a motorcycling theme, with half a dozen bikes on display, and lots of posters, photographs and trophies. (I gather this reflects the chef's passion.) The food is traditionally Italian; there's a limited selection of pasta, a choice of around a dozen pizzas, but most people were enjoying traditional meat and fish dishes as mains. Our group of four had an excellent meal: starters of calamari, mixed salad, and mozzarella and tomato salad were followed by linguine with clams, porcini and saffron risotto and tagliatelle with meatballs. Portions were generous and the quality was outstanding. (Best risotto in years.) Two courses with beer and water can to €160 for four, including service. Service was friendly and they speak reasonable English, alongside German and Italian. Definitely worth a visit but it is best to book as they're packed, even on Mondays.
