After turning off the radio so I could see better, I turned the radio back on for my driving around on Long Island. I had a good signal from Suffolk County through New York City and enjoyed my time with WBAB on the dial. Rock and roll is my jam. Sadly, I do have to say I listen to satellite radio in my car more than 'BAB but you can stream 'BAB from your computer at work! Some people stop discovering new music somewhere between high school and after college. They just kinda give up as if "I have all the music I like--I do not need anything new". I totally understand this. It's not a bad thing. Adulthood does stuff like this to us. However, depending on your age is what will dictate your "I'm happy with my musical library" cut-off point. Your "cut off point" could be 1992, 1987 or 1969. WBAB is clearly for people who were in high school from 1976 thru 1981. Period. (And shut the hell up because I myself am that age! Even though I don't like this station & I DO like music from this period very much!) --------------------------------------- Lastly-------------- I realize that this is not really a thread but I ask you Yelpers: Which is the most played-out song that you wish WBAB would discontinue? WBAB calls themselves "Long Island's #1 Rock station". Technically, they are right, as they are the highest rated rock station on Long Island. From my perspective, they are actually a good station. The lineup consists of typical classic rock DJs. I do have a few problems that I would like to point out. The station does not know whether it's classic rock or mainstream rock. I'd call it a classic rock station that plays modern songs by classic rock artists. The DJ's don't seem to have any personality unlike those at the old WNEW 102.7 (although this is par for the course with most radio stations owned by Cox Communications). The playlist is good, but it can get repetitive. However, the station does play some GREAT classic rock. You could hear a old song from Billy Joel or Pink Floyd. The station is great if you want some classic rock fix. And it is true to it's name for 50 minutes of classic rock. So, overall, give this station a try. You may like it, you may not. read more
