So with the clock ticking and the party time fast approaching, this shop was as life send. The ladies behind the counter seemed experienced at handling bizarre, last-minute requests like mine, and ushered me through the steps of helium balloon blowing with reassuring aplomb. Luckily I had my checkbook with me for the 350E deposit I had to leave on the tank, which they give you a reasonable 4 days to return. I'll definitely be coming back here next time a costume party slips into my agenda or I plan on blowing up an embarrassing number of balloons in an insanely short period of time.

This oasis of kid calm is aptly located in the chic Passage Vivienne next to other classy shops. The selection here is pitch perfect. Every item seems to have been selected with careful thought and consideration by the owner, a lovely woman who will, if you ask, tell you what kind of toy would be most appropriate for your child given his or her age. With my little one in tow, she selected a few toys for him to try out and we all agreed on this amazing DNA-strand-like construct made out of colored wood and bouncy string that my baby immediately gobbled up and slathered his approval onto. Not only is it super to look at, it's also one of his favorite toys. And I've never seen it anywhere else so the owner must have chosen it from some obscure manufacturer (or at least that's what I told myself to justify its slightly elevated price).
